Evening soon to be fellow Warlocks,
I've decided I would like to join the "dark side" and try my hand at playing a Warlock as the class has always appealed to me. I've heard a lot about Warlocks being in a poor state at the moment but that doesn't concern me.
Anyway, back to my point, I'd just like to know your thoughts on what race you play for your Warlock and why. I'll only be playing Horde (sorry you pesky Alliance players) and I'm thinking either Orc, Forsaken or Blood Elf.
Now, I'm not hard core into my lore but I do like to play a class + race combo that makes sense to me or just feels right.
Any input appreciated!

I play Orc basicly because of badass, Gul'dan the first Warlock in the world was an orc. So in history Orc Warlocks have always existed and always were the first. I find that alone very tempting to be a Orc Warlock, however forsaken has their cool stuff with being raised and channeling dark demonic magic but its preference i guess
Undeads makes a lot of sense for a warlock - no moralconflict and a lust for power.
Blood elfs also have a lot of power lusting and before the sunwell's restoration every BE used demonpowers.
But I do find orc warlocks to be the coolest but perhaps also the trickiest of the 3 races. A warlock going after Garrosh for revenge makes sense but why would they stick with us and not join Guldan?

Thanks for the replies guys!
All great points.
I agree with the Undead point you man Ghorluz.
Wouldn't the Blood Elfs hate Fel energies now though considering the destruction they wrought upon their people?
I also see what you mean with the Orc Warlocks there. I understand they were pretty much the originals but they do feel a little out of place now for me.

You're all wrong, expecially OP.
A class which is characterized by delving the depths others are afraid to, in search of a great wealth of knowledge & power. It can only be Dwarf; all other races of warlock are mere pretenders to the mighty Dwarven throne.

undead affli lock >>> all :)
female blood elf of course. we're the master race.
the first warlocks created were eredar, second were night elves turned into satyr warlocks after that the orcs came.21/07/2015 22:03Posted by KalyohI play Orc basicly because of badass, Gul'dan the first Warlock in the world was an orc

First MORTAL Warlock. The eredar was the first warlocks.
Undead Warlock, mainly because these things go hand-in-hand together. The unending torment of being undead, we don't sleep, we don't breathe, our pain is in our mind.
The dark magic only plays on these aspects, so self sacrifice for power to help progress our vengeance for the Dark Lady, and revenge for being brought back in the first place into a world of hell.
Maybe I wanted be brought back, I don't remember but I sought to fight and be a powerful as I can until I remember if I am a hero or a slave.

Warlocks of azeroth do not use fel magic we use 3 main source of energy : Demonic magic(demonology), Shadow magic (affliction), Chaotic energy (destruction), the whole undead warlock cliche is just nonsense, anyone can dabble in the power of shadow and chaos .
give your enemies pain and agony, haunt their souls, set them aflame and call forth the demons of twisting nether to swarm at your enemies, unleash your demonic fury, for your are the embodiment of all that is dark.THIS IS HOW YOU WARLOCK.

Orcs are the first mortal warlocks.

exactly this.
+1 :)
Excuse me!
gnomes make perfect warlocks.
I mean, there are so many unexplored possibilities on the energy flows in the twisting nether! Much more potential than in this so-called arcane magic.
Sure, the demonic power has its minor fluctuations.. but nothing that couldn't be fixed with minor control tweaks. And the rewards, they speak for themselves!
What could possibly go wrong!? *cackle*

Considering one of the most powerful warlocks in existence was human with power that easily eclipsed Gul'dan, I think human makes a strong candidate.
a really awesome post Onestep, you really took the effort to delve into the warlock lore from all points of view :)
as an undead lock, the part about us made me smile because this is how i have always viewed my Veer. thats why i have alwyas been affliction, not only because i love it for pure gameplay, but also because it fits perfect in the class/race lore which is a huge part of why i keep playing.
and the part about dwarves made me literally lol irl :P
a strong +1 from me, big cheers :)

Personally,i'd say Troll warlock.
Their casting animations are awesome.
Also you can patch their lore holes easily, you could just say that your character was a regular loa worshiper (official troll religion) who was tricked by demons into worshiping them while thinking he was worshiping loa instead. Or you could just be a fanatic gurubashi/atalai exile that was exiled because he used fel powers.
I could think of many other different backstories for a troll warlock.
Besides, having a mini bloodlust is always helpful.
But if you want a classic pick, it's orcs. Standard warlock since warcraft 1. :P
