Racial class abilities?

I’ve heard something like this existed in Vanilla. Why not add it again? Just to make races a bit more unique

As far as i know the only class that had racial abilities was priest. For instance dwarfs had fearward, nightelfs an AoE damage spell.
That is the only class i know that had them.

The problem was, fearward was so good, people wanted dwarven priests only

Yeah it was priest only and it was horrendously unbalanced.

Humans - desperate prayer and feedback. DP ok, FB pants
Dwarf - DP and fear ward. Fear ward insanely strong, hence dwarf priest being so popular.
Nelf - starshards and elunes grace. SS okay for an additional source of damage but mainly for the healer specs as mind flay is outright better for shadow. EG is situational as heck.
Draenei - symbol of hope and fear ward. SoH unique spell which at least was actually okay and useful in PvE
. Fear ward godly.

Troll - hex of weakness and shadowguard. Hex is pretty weak, SG is free damage, mainly useful in soloing and PvP.
Undead - touch of weakness and Devouring Plague. Touch is better than hex, and DP is extremely good on shadow in PvP.
Belf - feedback and consume magic. CM ate a buff of yours for mana, very situationally useful.

So dwarf, draenei and undead priests were miles ahead of the competition. Dwarfs in particular as PvP healers so much strong than other priests.

Then I guess they should create more balanced ones for all classes

it becomes incredibly diffiult to actually balance any of the game, take horridon in throne of thunder for example, he was classified as a beast, and there for either trolls or orcs i forget which dealth like 5% more damage to him, which meant that one of the more difficult bosses on the then heroic version of the raid was made a lot easier for horde than it was aliance,

take the previous priest abilities, fearward made dealin with fears a whole lot easier, so people would feel force to play that race for any fight that included that mechanic, or blizz wouldnt be able to include any of those mechanics because of the inbalance

it depends on how they do it, realistically you could just have it be something that changes visuals without increasing character power.

take the druid forms as a good example, all they do is give you a different look, but it doesnt mean that you are tankier or you do more damage.

I was thinking about some windrunning ability for blood elf hunters like the one that we get in Suramar as an mm hunters but I guess we already have trailblazer and aspect of the cheetah anyway so maybe they could a wind trail effect to one of theese abilities
We also need more animal forms for druid
Only allied races get unique stag forms while base races are stuck with a low rez one

that could well be something that they look into in the future, its a matter of prioritising certain parts, like they are working on making the artifact appearances usable across different specs, so it will be nice to see a moonkin able to swap into wearbear, might make me play my druid more

yeah there has been some posts on wowhead i had seen about it, im not sure how long it will take to get right, and some of them might still be a bit difficult, i know for example you cannot mog to a artifact appearance if you are using a wand as your main hand, so it might not be that great regardless if you are a caster

The playerbase is already melting down because there’s a feature in SL similar in importance to selecting your class and you want to bring back race specific class abilities ?

They have been removed 13 or 11y ago for a good reason, there’s no need to make races more unique imo especially not this way.

People are crying for years there is inbalance in racial abilities, calling horde bias BS and what not, and you want to bring back racial class spells, thats realy bad idea :smiley:
