I was thinking that it would be pretty cool to have racial Ghost Wolf forms, the same way Paladins have racial Divine Steeds!
It’s an interesting thing to think about. Druids take on the forms of animals for their natural strengths – bears for resilience, cats for ferocity, owlkin for their closeness to Elune(?). Paladins adopt sturdy and valiant mounts to be their Divine Steeds.
So what is the Ghost Wolf, to Shamans?
Orc Shamans would choose the Wolf due to its importance to them as a companion to hunt with, bond with, and ride in battle. So it’s a culturally important ferocious predator whose nature serves as an example to all within orcish culture. In that line of thought, I came up with a few culturally important ferocious / resilient / appropriate animals for the rest of the Shaman races!
Here’s what I got:
Horde
- Orc – Ghost Dire Wolf
- Tauren – Ghost Lion
- Troll – Ghost Raptor
- Goblin – Ghost Hyena
- Highmountain Tauren – Ghost Snow Leopard? (I like Ghost Fox for them, but Vulpera is the obvious choice)
- Mag’har Orc – Ghost Dire Boar
- Zandalari Troll – Ghost Feathery Raptor
- Vulpera – Ghost Fox
Unaffiliated
- Pandaren – Ghost Tiger
Alliance
- Dwarf – Ghost Ram or Dire Bear?
- Draenei – Ghost Marsuul or Panthara
- Dark Iron Dwarf – Ghost Hound
-
Kul’tiran – Ghost Mastiff
(All of these would be powerful versions, not just Ghost Puppers)
What do you guys think? Can you come up with any better fits than these?
