Racials need some adjustment

Hi there,

Today I logged on my Draenei Shaman I used to play in WoD and I was truely sad when I saw how much Gift of the N’aaru heals. It used to be a real CD as it scaled well with Versatility. Saddly not anymore. 3 min. CD for 100 k healing is a joke. I’d love to play my Draenei from time to time but them I log on my Dwarf and it feels way better to play.

In PvP currently Night Elves, Orcs, Humans and Dark Iron Dwarves rule and I don’t see it changing as their racials are just way better. Imo less represented races need some love. Mentioned above Draenei needs more healing from Gift or it’s CD reduced. Blood Elf 2 min. CD on dispel is also a bit underwhelming. Maybe it should be 1 min. Mag’har Orc racial that gives random 2ndary stat if gave your best 2ndary stat would also be great and competitive.

Not sure what races rule in PvE but that’s why I opened this topic as I’d like to discuss and see if PvE players feel the same way about races.

100k healing is not that bad, for an instant cast without any costs and a mediocre CD.

It isn’t supposed to be a main heal ability. Just a bonus heal ability.

Just for comparison, Gift of the Naaru heals for my Draenei Paladin atm around 70k HP within 5s.

That’s almost 3x Flash of Light amount of healing on Retribution without having to do anything but clicking a button once.

Another reference, Light’s Judgement from LFD does for me around 200k damage on 5 mobs nearby. Also with a single button click and just waiting.

Seems quite fair to me.

Racials should only work in casual content.

Disable them in Ranked PvP, M+ and Mythic Raiding and you fix the problem.

Then compare it to Dwarf racial. You can remove Silence, Bleeds (even Death Mark). Or compare it to Night Elf - you can get out of combat to drink or avoid CC/damage. Gift not only has longer CD but think about it what are our HP Pools 600-700 k? What is 100 k on 3 min. CD? On R Shaman my Riptide initial healing is around 60-90 k.

Imagine how broken it would be if Draenei would get a super strong heal racial on EVERY class (that they can pick from).

It is fine the way it is.

Nope, couldn’t care less.

Some racials are really strong but most people pick a race they enjoy the look of.

Racials matter at the very highest level, but unless I’m trying to push very high content on a class that’s particularly weak in a certain area that a racial can compensate for, I just play whatever race I prefer to look at.

As I mentioned some racials feel already like that - Dwarf for example. You can deny Assassination Rogue main CD so technically you get 1 super strong defensive. In PvE probably it can save you from some mechanics as well. Night Elf allows to restealth and to dodge some spells what is even stronger. I don’t see why it would be op. It was that strong in WoD yet Draenei was only popular choice for Enhancement Shaman.

Alright, I see your point. Seems like I am just “within my bubble” since I barely play other races.

Just of the top of my head:

Naraxas poison.

Bleed on sentinel talondras.

Diseases/bleeds in brackenhide.

Diseases on underrot 3rd boss if you clear mushroom(s) by running into them.

Bleeds in freehold.

racials are not well balanced that’s true but even the best one doesn’t have enough effect to force me to choose that race

I think that racials are the artifacts of the past. RPG-past, to be precise, and today they either have to be the same for all races (same effect/same cd/same type of ability, etc.) or removed. I still rember the howling around BElves’ torrent and its inevitable fixing…

But on a lighter note, racials, indeed, have some value only when you play high-end content and maximize your…well…everything. For me, it’s mostly about the appearance (straight backs for trolls and undead!) and the lore (belves <3) rather than an extra button on the panel.

How dare you suggest removing my ability to toss a vial and do 30k damage/heal!? :rage:

I chose Vulpera for their utility.

They make the best race for Collectors!

[Extra bag space, being able to make a camp (secondary hearthstone) anywhere outdoors, said camp can be used as an inn to disable WM to quickly change phasing for rare spawns]

They’re also adorable so win-win.

Camp in Loamm has been useful for getting to raid nights and the once-a-week researchers event.

Admittedly it felt a lot more useful in the first week of 10.1 when it seemed like daily visits to the cavern would have value… sadly, denied. Might be more useful on a double gatherer, but my vulpera tend to be either double crafting, or just… not anything.

I would either suggesting removing racials all together, make them very, very low impact as in “1% vers” or what not or if racials absolutely have to exist, rename them “heritage traits” n simply let us pick racials like PvP traits, hell give it a cooldown if you want so people cant swap around freely.

I only do PvP n the racial power difference is just massive. I would love to play forsaken but with how much stronger orc racial is for warrior i cant justify it, even just the blood fury is extremely strong now a days as the main stat bonus it gives scales with the PvP trinkets set bonus.

Alot of people claim its low impact but being able to dodge a chaos bolt, sniper/aimed shot or hell a polymorph with shadowmeld or dealing a fair bit extra damage while bursting as an orc etc are not low impact. Racial should be about preference in an mmorpg, in a singleplayer game its whatever but in an online PvP setting im not going to pick a race with a disadvantage. Intill racials are tweaked or removed my dream of being a forsaken warrior shall remain a dream!

Wouldn’t mind racials being ditched in favour of a mix and match style system similar to the runes system in League of Legends where you select an Offensive, Defensive and Utility trait.

Blizzard should do a quick rebalancing of racials
