So, about a year ago I recruited my friend into the game. He has had an active subscription ever since. I have already received the rewards that the old system offered, which was ONE free month and a mount.
My question is, why shouldn’t I receive 1 month for free for every 3 months he’s subscribing with the new system? I can understand why I won’t receive the collectibles, mounts, pets, tabards, titles, etc. However, I can’t stop feeling “stupid” for recruiting him when I did, especially because of the new system’s free game time. Why shouldn’t I receive that reward? By now I would have received about 3 free months more than I have. Again, I won’t mention the mounts, because that’s just the way things are, besides I now have an unobtainable mount, which is cool too, haha.
What do you guys think? I assume there are others sharing my predicament. I find it unfair to not reward older recruiters, especially since this isn’t a recruitment that happened 5 years ago and is currently inactive.
I would love a blue response and maybe even a fix, which will let me receive my free game time every 3 months, since I don’t think he will stop playing any time soon.
Simply put: Blizzard doesn’t care, the people who want the rewards will recruit themselves or someone else.

This is like asking for a limited time offer to be applied to you a year after you did something.

Cause he is no longer meet a requirement for a newly recruited friend if he has played for year+
As ppl are saying, the system wasent like that age ago, then they removed it for some time, then they re-added it with new rewards and new goals.
Also, if you didnt recruit him back then, you will not have the reward you have now, so, atleast be happy with that ^^.
Its like saying "hey blizz, i did the old raid tons of time and NOW you add pet to them?, please add all pet to my pet tab!?
Pet didnt drop back then, so, why do ppl suddenly deserv to have those raid pet aswell :P?..its more or less the same.
Just see it like this, now you got a chance to recruit new ppl and make friend with them :D!

no offense, but thats absolutely silly.
you knew the conditions and everything that comes along with it, then accepted the deal and received the reward for said deal.
if something “better” (or different) appears in the future then thats noones problem but yours. its unfortunate but nothing that requires compensation from blizzards side.
like Dejarous said. you dont buy a car and use it etc and after a year you see the new model for the same car and now you want your money back/exchange it for the new car.
my suggestion is to bite the bullet and move on or recruite someone else/yourself.
I have friends who I recruited that according to the set terms of accounts being linked still fall under being linked. However Blizzard replied to me that I will not be receiving rewards under the new RAF system because I received rewards under the old RAF. Despite their accounts still being fresh enough to fall under the requirements to be eligible for the new RAF.
It’s like blizzard doesn’t care about their own statements anymore.
So you got the old deal for your friends recruit and now want to change it up? They were recruited during the old program not the new one so obviously you shouldn’t get the new program
Then why will it apply to someone who recruited someone but that person has not subbed a single month under the old RAF system but if he subs now it will count. Blizzard is just being greedy.
Because the reward system doesn’t active until you buy the first sub. Have you checked how RAF works?
Obviously I’ve checked it.
However. Their own post states that linked accounts are eligible to the rewards. A few of my friends their accounts meet the terms stated by blizzard to be linked. Nowhere in said post does it mention anything about excluding people from the old system.
Either they need to specify it or give us what they wrote we should be getting.

It is so NOT the same. First of all, the party that is on the good side of this deal is Blizzard, not us, the recruiter or the recruited. Blizzard is making profit, because I recruited someone. So, since they’ve decided they would change the reward system, like I said, the collectibles are out of the question, but the 1 free month for every 3 he pays, is a system designed to make even more profits for Blizzard.
So, since they ARE making said profit, why shouldn’t I get the benefits too?
I do not ask for anything else, because that was not the deal I made back then. But from what I can tell, if I recruited him yesterday, I would for as long as WoW is up be getting my free months. So that’s a long term commitment. Makes no sense to me.
And for a couple of replies that seemed a little “aggressive” or derogatory, I really don’t know what to tell you, other than why?
I understand this too. I had a lot of unclaimed rewards, but as I already had them all they didn’t bother putting any new ones in… so with the new system that’s lost.
Would have been nice for them to do something for people who have been a subscriber for a good while.
Because that was the offer then and you benefited from it.
If you buy a tv and see it cheaper 15 months later do you ask for a refund?

Don’t let facts get in the way of your ‘wants’
This scheme started way after you did what you did. You can’t backdate the benefits in your mind and decide you’re entitled to them.

To specify the particular part a few of us are on about here.
Ensure you have a space for your new recruit by checking your total number of linked friends in the Recruit a Friend tab in the Friends List (default hotkey O). You can only have 10 active recruits at any one time. To free up a spot for a new recruit, you must either wait for an account link to expire, or break the link to one of the current recruits through the in-game interface. Account links last until a recruit has added 12 months of paid game time.
Nowhere in this blog post is it mentioned that active links under the old RAF are to be removed automatically and thus no longer eligible for the new system.
Even that FAQ states what
Your friend must be eligible to be recruited. This means that their account must be less than 7 days old, or must have been without active game time for at least 24 months prior to the last 7 days.
