Raid Lockouts in ICC for Mount Farming on Alts

Can anyone RECENTLY mount farming ICC with alts using the TWO ACCOUNT raid lock-out method help please? No matter what I try, the second alt either gets stuck in normal difficulty, gets into heroic but nothing is down, or my first character that’s meant to keep the lockout at 11/12 ends up locked to 12/12 bosses down. Do any of the old methods still work, or do we have to clear it all now? (Assuming I’m not doing timewalking skips)

What I expected to work was:
#1 Clears 11/12 on 25 normal;
#2 Goes in on 25 Heroic, kills a boss and comes out;
#1 Invites #2 to a group;
#2 Goes in and accepts the warning message about getting locked to 11/2;
#1 promotes #2 to leader and leave group;
#2 Comes out, switches to 25 heroic, goes back in and straight to the Lich King;
Then repeat for other alts

Didn’t they stop this a long time ago?

I used to have an alt with all those saved instances before the last boss, used the premade groups to self invite, and killing the last boss for each of my other characters.

Can’t do that now.

Ah, OK, thanks. I gave up on the mount a long time ago, but I was bored this week after I did what I wanted in the pre-patch event and thought I’d try again.

I’ve done it in Ulduar and Firelands within the last few months, so quite recently (not ICC for a long time).
In those raids you do it slightly differently to how you did.

  1. Clear up to 2nd last boss on Heroic.
  2. Hearth out and form group in LFG.
  3. Log in Alt and apply to this group.
  4. Log in original character and Accept application.
  5. Log in Alt again and enter the raid, accept message warning of incomplete raid.
  6. Wait for to be Party Leader and kick original character from group.
  7. Kill boss and get no mount.
  8. Rince and repeat.

You can keep the lockout on the original character and reactivate it next week, saving even more time.

Unfortunately this doesn’t work in Dragon Soul and Blazing Drake is the mount that I need for Achieve.
I don’t know if this works in ICC, I’ve heard things have changed.

Thanks. I’m really good at step 7, but I’ll try the rest. Will have to wait for the reset now, and by then it’s TWW launch, but one day I’ll be riding that mount….

What is the intent of this technique? I guess so that you only need to clear the raid once and kill the last boss with two chars in seperate runs, but don’t your chars share the same ID after grouping up anyway and after you killed a boss it’s dead for the 2nd char, too?
I’m genuinely interested to this as I don’t know much about tips and tricks like these, so :sweat_smile:

You can clear a raid up to the 2nd last boss.
Then you can share this raid lockout with a bunch of alts (not just one) and each of them gets to kill the last boss without using the original raid lockout (so it can be shared again and again).

I used this to get Mimiron’s Head in Ulduar.
I left an alt outside Ulduar and every week I would do the method I outlined above and enter the raid and kill Yogg. Took me a few months but the mount dropped.
I could have done it on more alts but I don’t like that fight much so I did it once a week for a few months.

Can’t really be called cheating these days since they’ve added skips to SoO and most newer raid come with a skip built in.

Huh interesting, thanks. Gonna try that on some occasions.

Who would’ve called this cheating in the first place? Seems not to be an exploit of some sort otherwise it wouldn’t’ve stayed possible to do, especially not for such a long time.
