Hello,
Currently on reddit there are some players advocating for all raids to be 10 ppl in SoD, including the vanilla 40 players one.
Could there be an official statement about the endgame raid size ? I’d like to know because I’m not comiting to SoD if 40 ppl raids are scrapped.
Thanks in advance for any clarification

They won’t touch 40-man raids, except for bumping HP/Damage values to compensate Runes a bit.
There is nothing to worry about.
And quite frankly - all those raids can be done 20 man too as is, if they so desire.
I really dont understand their args to be honnest… Most of them are like “grouping 40 men is so hard …” but 2019 classic was by far the easiest moment to join / set a raid…
With 25 tbc raid came the 5 sham raid…
And with 25hm wotlk came the “if only 1 guys mess up or if we dont have all buff we wont go”
… But 40 men classic raid were hard to set …? Like srsly?

I mean we are already seeing
“LFM BFD - Be geared - 7/7 Exp, bring consumables, checking gear”
for a 10 man leveling raid…
God knows what requirements will be for a 40 man end game raid.
I am hoping for 20 man raids, i probably wont bother with 40 but i understand thats my preference, I dont like playing with randoms and i think 20 man with runes, would be fun if they just kept their HP etc or maybe even buff them up depending on our power levels by 60.

Pretty much that.
I don’t understand what people are expecting here, this is the meta - it’s how it goes in Classic in 2020s.
They can make 10 more Seasons of Whatever - it will all be the same and people who expect any different are quite funny.
I am in one,
Raid leading my army of 10. We run together every raid etc, no pug BS
but i already get annoyed with people not signing up for 10 man raids, i so wont be arsed trying to organise 40 lol
I hope not I really dont like this 10 player meta.
Are we really gonna get the same raids again and nothing new on 60?
Gonna be a lot of unsubbing then. Noone wants MC and Zulgurub for the millionth time.
the raids are already there, you will probably see it adapted like the BFD dungeon.
New mechanics etc given to bosses. They wont just scrap all the existing raids for new ones, it would be much more work and a waste
Theres no much point in raiding after first clear. Also the golden rule - if you want to have stable raids - you need x3 amount of people then your raid size. Also half of levelers will quit before cap.
So to have stable 10 man you need to have at least 60 person guild. 240 for 40 people raids.
I mean that seems a bit excessive.
for a 10 man raid, having 30 people is overkill, I have 10 people and generally 8-9 will show each time, depending on what they have going on at that time. Then we source the extra from the guild but i dont have 2 people on standby per slot lol
I just think its a crap load of hassle to organise 40, id much rather see it at 20
I do… I am also weird… :')
yeah would love a clarification, as someone who raid leads and has always raid leaded even back with classic I would rather eat my shoe than having to pinpoint 40 people to join for a bloody raid. 10 is nice but 20 would be fine for me. 40 is too much of a hassle for raid leaders and everyone who thinks different never leaded.

I don’t want to start a debate or whatever. What I simply want is for blizzard to state its intent so I don’t waste my time leveling to in SoD if 40 ppl raids are removed.
Also usually people can afford to be elitist in low raid sizes, but are way less for high raid size (because you need the payers, its only logical).
Just voting - I would be perfectly fine with 10, with optional 20, 25 or 40.
Having so many is charming, but can also make things a bit one sided. In WLK 25 man raids had dedicated healer roles whereas in 10 man we shared responsibility.
Granted, 10 might be too few if classes are too specialized. Although we have runes now.
A pro-contra argument about 40 man is that individual performance doesn’t matter.
I attribute that to server size. But I agree with the balancing of effort and requirements.
In our WLK server we had like 50 raiders overall. We had to nudge sometimes but we were fine.
This time you can afford to require anything including blonde female with a ponytail because out of 1000 raiders for hire, there will always be someone meeting those conditions.
Classic raids should remain 40 man, period.
For two reasons.
- It’s cool.
- If you so desire, you can do them 20 man anyway, because they are easy AF.
You keep talking like you see into the future and know how things will be. THIS IS NOT CLASSIC ERA MAN. You don’t know what runes will be op or not, or raids will be hard or not, or how classes will turn out.
On topic :
40 man raid is chaos, as others said individual performance doesn’t matter much, harder to get together, harder to coordinate.
So… You either make the the raid piss easy, which is boring, or hard, but then nobody will clear them.
Also it’s gonna be a gdkp paradise unless you massively buff the amount of loot/boss.

Can’t we just have flex raiding, keeping everyone happy?
I have no desire getting together 30 more randos just to fill the roster, I wanna play with my friends in a 10man raid, is that too much to ask? I mean, 40 people always were excessive and half the raid did nothing, getting carried by the half that gave a crap.
