RIO ratings form a pyramid. Lower levels of the pyramid are wide, higher levels are narrow. RIO removes people at all levels of the pyramid. RIO provides an incentive for people only at the top levels, because without RIO only the top levels of the pyramid get an effect from manual player selection, the scarcity exists only there.
If we compare RIO to Blizzard-made rating = rated solo queue, even those 0.02% of people who only do M+ now because of RIO and who wouldn’t do it if it were gone, even those people will not have any reason to leave. Because there will still be a team queue where they can use their beloved RIO and whatever other bs they want to their hearts content. On the other hand, a huge number of people who are being washed out of M+ now will have reasons to do it again because they will stop being washed out.
They aren’t terrible at that, just in case. Aren’t the best, but aren’t bad either. Queues in HS work great (granted, only casual poses any type of challenge, ranked is self-defining), queues in SC2 work great, etc. HotS is a mixed bag but that’s because the number of players is low. Arena queue in WoW does its job as well. They aren’t terrible at automated matchmaking.
I am not even going to consider linking my account here, with 1 raid boss kill and less than 10 Mythic+ runs. But in Shadowlands, you will see me at the top!!!
Congratulations, you’ve explained how better players form the top, and the average the buttom, i have yet to see anything that shows conclusively that more people leave with RIO than without.
Not sure how that’s relevant to what i responded to in any way, but what ever floats your boat mate. You then go on to talk about solo queues for some reason?
Still waiting btw, since your post had nothing to do with what i responded to.
On the whole RIO issue in general :
Why not make everything simple. Make it so your dungeon stats can only be shared with 3rd party sites such as RIO if people enable it on their battle.net account… easy peazy … people claim millions leave because of RIO, and a tiny minority enjoy it, so let us “tiny minority” people keep it, and for the rest of you it’s disabled
That way the claimed “majority” dont have to fight with it, i’m sure it’s gonna be great.
In a system that actually works, that guy would never have made it to that rating. He made it to that rating because it doesn’t work. Every single case of players like this existing at higher ratings in OW shows that the system is broken.
You are mistaken. In a system that works, that guy would have made it to that rating, it would just happen rarely. To assess how good the system is you need to assess how rarely that (and other discrepancies) happen. That’s why you need statistics.
That’s excluding being piloted plus he could simply have been drunk or something that evening. That also happens.
So people unable to climb to the next level are in your mind “removed”
So your actual problem is that, if a player is not very good at the game, they cannot get to the “next level” ?
w/e i’m outta here, arguing with you is like arguing with a 2 years old.
Ok that was harsh… no 2 year old should be compared to your level, they’re way ahead.
A request to anyone that tries to defend raider.io:
Stop defending it here. These people try to make this a discussion about whether or not raider.io is bad or not, which this thread isn’t supposed to be.
It sucks. But pleeease stop replying to those people. This shouldn’t be a place to discuss this stuff. Even if you’re just defending rio, just don’t.
Flag for spam and move on. Replying just makes it worse (and I’d even argue, you can’t win an argument with these people anyway).
