Honestly, why do I bother grinding all the delves and PvP I can, getting myself to 600 ilvl in 3 days, and doing top DPS, if I can watch someone walk away with 4 items while I get exclusively low rolls for the entire raid? Makes me want to sit at the bottom of the meters and idly spam some random ability while others do the work for once.
With personal loot you at least didn’t have to watch the rolls happen, and you could have a bad luck protection system. Bonus rolls were great, too. I know we have the vault, but delaying the reward by several days doesn’t make the raids feel any better. At this point I started to auto roll need on absolutely everything I can, so I can hopefully walk away from the raid with SOMETHING to show for it, instead of grinding the raid for few hours only to walk way with couple hundred gold.
The way this loot system works, and especially the way it is displayed, is the worst it has been in a long while, possibly ever. It is certainly the worst I’ve ever felt while raiding, and I’ve been playing on and off for 9 years now, across multiple expansions and difficulties. I never got burned out after ONE raid night.

So… you rolled low and you came to the forums to cry about it is all I’m taking from that rant of yours.

Pugs vs Guild runs;
Pugs will always have a fresh batch of random people looking for gear, where as in a Guild it’s just the lot of you gearing up… so if you don’t get your drop this time you’ll have a good chance the next time.
But yeah, Bonus rolls reeeeeally needs to make a return.
I kinda wish they brought this back. Even if they only worked like 10% of the time I would still prefer them to be back.
I agree about the nature of pug raiding, but that’s the thing in pugs sadly. Everything that drops will be needed because else these people wouldn’t be in that pug (mostly).
And if they don’t need it and can press need they will sell it.
All of DF I didn’t raid in a guild and just geared through m+, which was bad too with 2/5 chance of getting loot, but the few raids I did do were mostly for the vault. I never won anything. That’s why I joined a guild this time around. At least when I lose a roll I know the guy in my guild will not roll again when an item for that slot drops a week later.
Look for a raid group that uses loot rules that work for you.
I preferred Personal Loot also, but it’s not an option right now, so the only two options are to look for a raid group/guild or accept that loot in PUGs is usually free for all. Sometimes this will work in your favor too.
My raid group has 10 or 11 people on “my” set token, so my set pieces will probably come from the catalyst (M+) or the Great Vault.

Btw no, never saw one people leave a raid with 4-5 loot with pl ever. Max were 3 from 8-10 bosses.
I have been complaining about this since they removed personal loot. It’s an awful useless system now.

Group loot with strangers is a stupid system
Thats what the Vault is for. To guarantee that each week you get at least 1-3 bis items. You also want guaranteed bis rolls with every boss drop? Thats not how MMOs work. You have to grind it until it drops. Its always been like that and always will. If you dont like that you obviously just dont like WoW
Update: so I wrote that during a break, but now it’s actually 5 items, and not 4
This kind of loot disparity should never be possible for multiple people who do one activity together.
Blizz already had to implement the catalyst because otherwise people would end up without their set pieces after weeks of raiding. If you’re going to just give out those pieces weekly because RNG itself isn’t good enough, do it during the raid instead, with bad luck protection or bonus rolls or something. At least then we can have some excitement after a boss kill, rather than a disappointing evening, and a journey to some NPC few days later. The catalyst doesn’t even feel rewarding.
Raiding hasn’t been worth since m+ came.
Has anybody ever not prefaced a loot whine with “I waz totes top dps man!”?
Sometimes you’re lucky, sometimes not. It would be the same with personal loot, the same person would have outrolled you on a different system.
I really miss personal loot, while rolls seems also fair it’s much harder to get piece of a gear these days.
Not to mention how lootcouncil gets abused.
My druid had 36 Bosses without Loot. Amazing experience
Huge skill issue, did one full run of normal raid with my warlock, got 4 sets + weapon + 1-2 gear that was an upgrade.
You completely missed the point where, in a couple of weeks, people will be ninjaing everything they can roll need on, even if they have full mythic gear in a normal pug/lfr. Remember when bliz removed master loot because of ninjas? then they reintroduced this.
There’s no guarantee that any of the items in the vault are going to be bis and it has never been implemented that way ever. They might be better than the item you have but bis is a completely different thing.
So ?
You expect to get something 1st week ? Dosent work like that my friend.
Not even in Guild Runs. There are simply not enough items to go around. And even less if you think about the chances of getting leather stuff for your rogue.
It is perfectly possible to clear a whole raid and not see a single mail armor piece… Who cares if I win the rolls or not ?
If you want loot from raids its gear up by attrition. You have to go many times… Not just once and expect something.
we need personal loot for pugs! easy fix
True I used the term bis too generously but you know what i mean. A top item. Whether or not its bis for you yeah that is still down to luck. But youre still gonna get top level item gear so its not like youre gonna be outgeared.
Certainly not at the level 99% people play at
