From experience I always find guilds falling apart or losing members after 6-10 weeks+ of raiding a Tier on mythic. Reasons are usually when we get stuck on one of the later bosses an example being Tindral. This is usually because at that point majority of the raid is fully geared and now their is very little excitment for killing the boss other than getting a 3ilvl upgrade or just to get the achievment and then the boss is never touched again. I think to combat this and maybe keep players engaged is to have a system where after say 4 reclears of a boss it unlocks a form of “mutated” gear or something along the lines (augemented gear) where the items that can be obtained will now have a stat increase or random proc effect. like “Casting spells an abilites grant upto 4 allies 3%leech” “healing allies has a chance to shield them for 2% max hp” This would also help guilds that maybe only raid say 5/8m and are stuck around that mark, as they keep reclearing and getting this “upgraded” gear might be the push they need to get CE. This will obviously trivilise the end game for people like Liquid. but again for the mutated/augemented gear to show up a boss must have been killed atleast 4 times. That way it would never affect world first race.
Few things would need to be implemented though - all items can be effected even trinkets. Though because of the borrowed power your character can only have up to 4 equipped. Once a new season begins the borrowed power will now just be labled on the gear as “Faded power” in place of the effect granted. This would stop going into a new season feeling giga powerful. plus would also make sense since the raid you were drawing the power from is vanquished so their is no power left to drain. if possible don’t let it effect arenas or battlegrounds.
I personally think this will help high end raiding and will make achieving things like Cutting edge much more enjoyable when all your hard work for reclearing makes it that little bit more helpful in clearing those last few bosses.
Now obviously this is a bit similar to corrupted gear but not as extreme. It should also be for mythic only. as it’s suppose to encourage reclearing bosses. On a side note I do love M+ But being able to gear from that to be just as powerful as mythic raiding has really sucked the life out of raiding to the point I have had to move to 3 different CE guilds in 1 expansion because the last few bosses at 200+ wipes make people not interested to play anymore due to having nothing to gain from it.
if you are serious about raiding CE content, the last thing you want are guild members who are there only for loot.
Only mediocre players have that kind of mindset, so the solution is not for blizzard to create another carrot for you to chase, it is for you to start taking mythic raiding seriously, or give it up.
If you want to give people an incentive to stick around and get CE id rather see them make getting CE more rewarding. As standing (not including the top 100) the only unique reward you get from it is the feast of strength achievement. Both the mount and title can be easily obtained by anyone in the next expansions.
“The weak are getting culled” you do realise big top rank 100 guilds are collapsing as well because the difficulty to reward ratio is not worth it. I have always been apart of 2 day raiding guilds and if not achieved CE atleast 2nd last boss on mythic. It’s a video game there should be incentive to play especially when the content is as difficult to the point you need 6+ weakaurus and multiple macros. Getting an achievement and minor ilvl upgrade is not enough to get players to push. Also weaker guilds should absolutely be allowed to get to these bosses and be able to beat them. Which is why the solution I gave is actually beneficial to everyone. You feel strong at the end of the season after many reclears. Out the top 100 guilds very few of them actually reclear all bosses some bosses are permanently skipped like zskarn. I don’t understand the toxic mentality of keep it extreme so those that have the time to raid 3-5 days a week and 30+ stable players can be the only ones to achieve it every season. The game should either remain hard but be more rewarding to further help progression or dumbed down to make it feel that clearing bosses and obtaining the items feel like a difference. This is also without even talking about the impact m+ has on raiding.
Or perhaps they’re making the decision to stop pushing for HoF because they’ve been doing it for years and doing the same thing year after year stops being fun after a while.
Speaking for myself, having progressed mythic for most tiers since it came out, I just don’t want to raid anymore. I mean, I want to want to raid, but the fantasy is more appealing than the reality.
M+ is closer to raids than ever before in its rewards, especially this season with bullions, and I couldn’t be happier. The commitment required for M+ vs raids is huge, I doubt I need to explain.
The solution? Eh, I dunno. Here are my half-baked thoughts:
Make raiding more good
Make raiding less bad
Do something with weakauras (and mechanics that almost mandate their use)
I hate boss guides they bore me to death my brain won’t listen I hate boss guides
Extending lockouts to progress on the same boss for the 300th pull makes me want to #redacted#
