Rain sounds but visual is missing

Bit of a strange thing going on, and I’m not sure if there’s anything I can do to fix it.
After a bit of googling I only see people asking for ways to turn weather effects off, but I need them to be turned on.

Every time rain is happening, I do actually hear the sound of it raining, but I don’t see it happening. My graphic settings are all on Good/Ultra, so it shouldn’t be that either.

Anyone knows what might cause the weather visual effects to not appear?

I’ve also had this issue since the pre-patch went live. Skies are cloudy, the sound of rain is there, but no actual rain. Using the same hardware and settings as before the pre-patch when everything worked fine.

My graphics card is Geforce GTX 750 Ti with latest drivers installed. Would appreciate any help.

Hey there. I understand that you’re quite busy these days, but could we please get a reply? I really don’t want to miss rain effects in Shadowlands zones (if there are any).

I’d like to add that I have the same problem. Even tho I’ve tried to reinstall the game and use different console commands, with no luck.

Has anyone found a solution for this yet? I’d really want to be able to experience the weather effects with Shadowlands releasing tomorrow.

Nope. I made a ticket on the issue, but doubt it will be looked at any time soon considering the expansion launch and stuff.

Edit: actually got a reply to my ticket. They said that my video card is now below the minimum system requirements and that might be the cause. I have my doubts though since one of the still supported old video cards is very similar to what I have.

That makes no sense at all.
I run with a Geforce GTX 980 which is still above the minimum requirements, so that can’t be the cause.

I’ve been able to pinpoint what exactly was causing this in my case. In-game, under Game Menu - System - Advanced, I had Graphics API - DirectX 11 Legacy selected. Changing that to simply DirectX 11 fixed the issue. Try that, maybe it will help you as well.

Unfortunately, I still have to use DirectX 11 Legacy since DirectX 11 is causing me some other graphical issues :frowning:

Thanks for the tip! This has worked for me as well!
At least as long as I don’t go to Zangarmarsh in Outland, because all the wooden buildings are invisible there with this setting.
Talk about weird!
