I recently dusted off this Warlock for the purpose of PvP, but so far I’ve found it incredibly frustrating. I thought I’d be able to observe how other warlocks play in BGs / arena, but so far I’ve seen very few - in most BGs, I’m the only warlock!
Every BG I’m chased down by warriors / rets / DHs and I just spend the entire time running or trying to juke kicks. In the small amount of time I’m not being trained, I start building up for my demonbolt burst window whilst dealing ticklish damage - mostly not even breaking enemy absorbs. If I manage to prepare a burst window, the fight is often over or by this time, the melee are alerted to my presence and are chasing me like flies on a pile of crap!
Every BG is the same, and in random BGs I don’t have anyone I can yell at for a peel. I just spend the whole time either dying, or trying to build up a burst window.
Is this the same experience for other warlocks? Is this why I do not see any other warlocks in battlegrounds?
It is your ilvl I can take some dmg from the melee train, but without a heal or peel I get nuked down from them.
I mostly play 2vs with a survival hunter. It’s not easy against melees or in lower cr. But when you get to 1900+ the fun part starts, the melees don’t always rush at you, because they know this could be their end.
If you have a main pvp char buy some gear for the warlock from the vendor in oribos next to the flight master
I can see how it might be strong / enjoyable if you have great awareness / skill & communication with your partner, but at lower ratings & playing with randoms from group finder, I feel like I don’t even get a chance to play or use abilities. I’m just constantly trying to ramp up when I have a demon hunter / warrior sticking to me.
It feels like every other class has stronger sustain damage, but also can burst on demand (usually the moment the gates open - and I can’t survive…)
That’s why I play summon Felguard into Fel Lord, the Fel Lord helps you Summon your Tyrant. For me it works, my mate is going ahead against melee to slow them down. This doesn’t work always.
With random it is a lot harder, it’s try and error. Just try different talents, you will find your way to play the class
I don’t really have issues kiting and survivability is great when stuff is off cd. I’m running rift and fel lord for extra kiting and survivability. Always keep curse of exhaustion on your target/targets. My bolts crit between 15-20k depending if my tyrant is out with a bunch of demons.
Only classes that are tough right now for me are rogues when axe toss or grimoire is on cd and feral druids.
Join with some friends. Any BG that isn’t a semi organised rated one is like this. With no coordination, everyone is just zipping around doing nothing important.
