I started leveling a new character for the first time in years, a warlock.
I have to wait 5 minutes for the system to notify me that there is not enough players in the chromie time-line im doing and ask if I want to queue for the other expansions aswell.
Then I finally get into a group.
And then the next issue comes up…
Everyone is rushing pulling several packs, skipping as many bosses as possible to get to the end boss.
Dying several times from pulling to much in one go, which means I lose the darkmoon faire buff and have to jump out, get on that ride to get it back and then jump in only for the same thing to happen several times until we are finally at the end boss.
It has been a terrible experience for me even though I’m used to this, but I did not remember it being this bad.
And if I am frustrated and confused by all this I can only imagine how new or returning players feel.
While it’s gonna be hard to make players stop rushing it like its m+.
I think they should make the bosses required to get the end of dungeon experience.
Freehold they skipped all the way to the last boss, died 4 times on the way because some werent good at sneaking past patrols.
Underrot we only killed 1st and last boss the two runs i joined.
If a boss can be skipped the majority of times it will.
All this rushing, dying and skipping means its very common that people just leave. replaced the full group 3 times during one run due to people leaving.
Luckily no one got kicked for low dps even though they tried, I really dislike when people try to kicked low dps in leveling dungeons since the scaling is so bad for some specs that they cant do anything about it.
I agree.
It’s players who are ruining the experience.
And I understand why they are rushing and skipping, because the experience is at the end.
I get like 700-3k experience for a boss, but I get 36k for finishing the dungeon.
If it were more spread out it might actually be worth killing the other bosses.
I wish one could just queue up for all dungeons immediately, rather than only for those of a specific expansion.
And yeah, skipping bosses is kind of lame. I wish Blizz would spread the XP rewards.
Also, itemization is kind of bad in leveling dungeons. In some expansions, one gets a loot bag at the end of the run, which contains mostly boots, bracers, or gloves, but nothing for other slots like weapons. In newer expansions, there is no end-of-run goodie bag. I wish loot upgrades would be more consistent in the dungeon leveling path.
Yeah that is another good point.
If I didn’t have full heirloom I would probably still run around with half of my gear being 20 levels below my current level.
Due to skipping bosses you already miss out on loot, and the goodie bag is usually just the same slots over and over like you said.
I hope they take a look at it now that they are adding shadowlands to the chromie time aswell.
Personally I don’t mind skipping. I don’t find levelling fun and I’d rather get it over with as quickly as possible.
The ‘fix’ for it would be pretty simple, though. Still give the same XP for individual bosses, but only give the XP for completion when they are all dead.
Yeah, this must be annoying, but if you’re going to end up doing BfA dungeons anyway, there’s a workaround for it. Go and unlock whichever timeline you want to quest in, do the intro quests so you can access the zone, then return to Chromie and switch to BfA. I don’t know for certain if you reach a point where you don’t earn full XP any more in some of the earlier timelines, but I’ve levelled multiple characters to 50 by questing in Legion zones while queuing for BfA dungeons.
