J I have been playing random dungeons today and done quite a few. Thing is I rarely get anything. The last five I think I got a ring. And the very last I got some deeprock salt. Also the goody bag always gives me something I don’t need normally a cloak or shoes. Just that I see what others are getting and I’m kinda getting a bit frustrated.
Are the loot drops set by the person in charge of the group. Are there any other factors. I do enjoy dungeons but the killing bosses is starting to be a touch pointless. I don’t get excited cus I know I’m going to be disappointed. Odd that.
I really want a staff. Can’t get one. Or a chest piece. Wish there was some way to work toward a reward rather than have to live in hope. I can see this getting real old very quick.
I presume you are talking about classic or maybe TBC dungeons. If so that is mainly the fault of personal loot. In Cataclysm they reworked some of the loot tables of the Vanilla instances, but several were left untouched, even thou originally they were planned for group or master loot.
Now in the last at least three expansions in a normal dungeon run, out of normally five bosses you are supposed to receive 1-2 loots. 1 boss can drop around 12-15 pieces and with your armor type and weapons you can use, you are eligible for around 4 pieces. In old instances a boss could drop around 4 things and that is it, beside the end boss that usually have a bigger loottable. With that getting items from bosses that have 1-3 items became extremely difficult. This might be your case as well.
Also if I recall rightly the bag you get at the end of instances have different pieces associated with each level bracket. Between level 10 and 19 it is very likely you will get cloaks while between 40 and 49 it is rings. Something along these lines.
It was worth coming on the forums to raise the issue cus my other character went back in to a dungeon and got a very good staff the first boss killed. Then a ring. So it really is RNG at work I guess.
