Hi guys,
I’m wondering if other people are experiencing this as well. Lately, I’ve been having very small (1 second) hiccups that completely freeze my game and then continue afterwards as if nothing has happened.
It happens randomly and doesn’t seem to be tied to specific events. Sometimes it’s after loading a new zone, sometimes it’s during combat, sometimes it’s when I’m just walking or even standing still. It can happen a few times within a minute and then not happen again for like 30 minutes. It seems inconsistent, but does occur quite regularly.
It seems to happen without addons as well, on a clean install. I’ve tried to repair the game, but that didn’t help. It doesn’t happen in other games and there’s no programs running in the background. Processor and GPU aren’t overloaded or anything, neither is my SSD.
I think it might be the client instead of my PC. Maybe there’s memory leaks, or something?
Thanks for any insight.

I tried disabling addons and it’s not it. I’m having this issue, not sure what is the cause

Heya!
Based on your description, I would also come to the conclusion its software based however not so much with the client but rather something else on the PC. If the client were to have memory leaks or other issues, we would be seeing every single player of the game affected!
Best thing to do in these cases though would be to update drivers and operating systems. Your Operating system will take care of most driver updates except the graphics card which you will have to do separately.
If you need guidance on how to do that, I recommend a guide we have here.
Hope that helps!
Thanks for the reply. But I don’t think it’s my PC.
I noticed it again earlier when playing on my Horde character and I flew around Dazal’alor. Afterwards, I was watching Asmongold’s stream and in the exact same areas (right when you move out of the front door), the game starts to hiccup for him too. Please see this clip below (remove the spaces). There’s a hiccup around 6 seconds in and around 16 seconds in.

Now obviously he has a lot of addons running, but I find it quite a coincidence that’s it happening for him too.

Same issues here. People are skipping around my screen like mad, I sat and let everything load for a good 10 minuets before moving. I froze during battle, I froze up really bad after calling my mount , picking up items was super slow. Given up for the night, it was not doing his during the day.
Same issue here too. I was playing the game perfectly but since 2 days fps spikes started happening. I have updated every driver and software the problem doesn’t go away.
I fixed this issue by changing nvidia control panel settings to balanced from app controlled and using geforce optimal settings (i had to increase resolution and crank a few settings because wow wasnt taxing my card enough
)
Out of curiosity, have you installed the game “Valorant”? The anti-cheat kernel level software installed by it was causing allegedly frameskip issues to some players in WoW. I don’t know if it has been fixed, but if you are playing the game it might be worth it to uninstall it’s anti-cheat software and see if that fixes the problem.
Thanks for the info, but no, I don’t have it installed.
