Rank the TWW zones by your own merit

For me Hallowfall is “the human zone” and all stuff from humans usually get a bad ranking from me.

Yeah I don’t care. I knew why you didn’t like it even before you decided to share.

  1. Azj Kahet:

I expected more, much more from this area. I was expecting ‘the Suramar of TWW’ and it’s been half-finished. It’s still my favourite zone, but if the next big patch really does take us to the ethereal world I’m afraid that statement will change xD

  1. Undermine:

I wasn’t expecting much from this patch and when I got to try it out it was a big surprise, for the better. The music and story are great, the graphics are very neat and… goblins, I didn’t know how much I could like them until they finally got their deserved lore patch.

Even so, I have 2 problems with this zone:
1- The car, the damn car, I hate it.
2 - There are too many hostile npcs in the whole area, so if you want to go for a quiet walk you will be in combat almost continuously. The only way to avoid it is the car, but… I’m back to point 1.

  1. Hallowfall (at night):

I want to distinguish this because at least for me the feeling I get from the area changes completely. While during the day it’s default human zone #100000, at night it conveys something different, closer to things that were seen in Legion. And I like it.

  1. Isle of Dorn:

What can I say… average expansion starting zone. Neither good nor bad, it fulfils its function but nothing more.

  1. Ringing Depths:

I’m not a big fan of underground zones, but at least the other two try to have something special. This one doesn’t. It’s like the Niffen zone from 10.1 but slightly more boring to me. I was expecting more.

Well you see we already have like a dozen human zones that all look the same cuz blizzard carefully made sure its usually fertile and easy to settle in. Humans in WOW never faced real hardships.

Nah last patch we go to the world soul chamber for sure. It would drop too many important lore dips if we cut content again like in WOD and Shadowlands.

K great. I don’t care.

it is Pretty in my opinion.
and its the farming zone and world pvp that i go everyday and since mostly is for paladins .
i like it.

Paladin bias is a real problem yes.

Yeah, Undermine is by far my favorite. A zone that is a city. Or town. That’s not done enough in WoW.

After that it’s the Arathi zone, really like how it looks, then it’s the surface area. The other two zones, don’t like them much. The spider area could have been really good but they kind of missed their show with the lackluster ambiance.

I’m going to rank them by their likelihood to survive a flooding from that underground sea.

  1. Siren’s Isle - It’s far away and above sea level so it’s safe.
  2. Isle of Dorn - Dornogal might flood through the coreway depending on if it’s below the sea level but the rest is safe.
  3. Undermine - It is underground, but it’s so far away that the tunnel might collapse as the water rushes through.
  4. Hallowfall - a pocket of air might form above the tunnel that leads upwards.
  5. Azj-Kahet - might have the tiniest pockets of air, but otherwise is mostly flooded.
  6. Ringing Deeps - nope, it’s a goner, both the coreway and a lift shaft means it’ll be flooded through and through.

Yes I just point out here Blizzard plays favorites with male human paladins. That is why Hallowfall even exists.

  1. Isle of Dorn
Pros: It’s outside, above ground, it’s a nice island, music, storyline
Cons: Feels empty at some parts, coastline is meh, some stone structures are too edgy, Dornogal! - I hate the city with all my passion, sorry

  2. Hallowfall
Pros: Music and the environment, The Undersea it’s just magnificient, love the architecture and story
Cons: Annoying voice overs e.g. Faerin and that Elf announcing the objectives in the Northern Part of the zone

  3. Ringing Deeps
Pros: Kobold stories are nice addition, I like the whole structure of the zone, like flying throug a massive vibrant cave - mix of stone and greenery
Cons: Sometimes too much machine stuff with feeling of walking throuhg an industrial park

  4. Azj-Kahet
Pros: It’s dark, could be even darker, music and maybe story, entering the zone down deep feels just right and immersive
Cons: Not enough spider webs around

  5. Undermine
    Pros: Goblin theme, nice colors
Cons: D.R.I.V.E. - maybe it’s just me, I’m still learning, Music - hate Jazz - it’s first time I turned off in game music, I was getting headaches, it’s a nightmare to listen to, feels small and calustrophobic, like a giant metal bubble

  1. Undermine by a large margin, like it’s not even close to the other ones. I like when zones are small, have character and are up to a point where you actively remember places and buildings because they are somewhat relevant. It’s got style, sick music, full of nooks and crannies to explore! I’ve actually spent one whole week running around by foot to get a precise lay of the land, I’ve made a demon hunter to explore the city from above, I love it. I intend to set it as my new standard for characters’ background (before I used to ask myself, would my character fit in Booty Bay somehow with its transmog and backstory? If the answer was yes I’m good, otherwise I needed to adjust it a little bit - I think I’m finally ready to update or extend my standard to Booty Bay and Undermine)
  2. Ringing Deeps, I’ve loved the Kobold lore and stuff, though I would’ve loved more if that candle city was a bit more like a proper city
  3. Hallowfall because of the aesthetic and the fact that it plants seeds for future mysteries to be expanded in time
  4. Azjkahet, I didn’t really enjoy it that much but it’s ok I guess
  5. Dornogal, I don’t really like the city a whole lot (too many big empty spaces and closed doors, with only 2 or 3 types of buildings) but it still is an ok zone
  1. Isle of Dorn: This is my feels-good zone, because I really like the vibe of the original Dwarves, and this one gives a new spin to them. Though I think these dwarves are not remotely as cool as the ones on eastern kingdoms. I think giving every female dwarf a beard would have been funny 10 years ago, but under current post-modern context it’s more of an eyeroll.
  2. Undermine: I like that they flesh out the world of azeroth more in this patch, even though I think the story in the campaign is good, but not great. Just solid. The zone overall is really good therefore.
  3. The Ringing Deeps: I like what this zone tries to be a lot. This is an ancient civilization with secret engineering-wonders shaped by some of the original titan-creations. Sadly the execution does not do it justice, it should have been way more ordered, structured, and high-tech for what it represents. I like though how it’s connected to undermine
  4. Hallowfall: The steampunk-architecture is also kinda cool. The huge mountains and extreme canyons are very epic. I like how the ecology seems to have adapted to the radiance of the crystal. The light vs darkness vibe of this zone is also cool. The side-stories are so horrible though that I can’t rank it higher.
  5. Azj-Kahet: This zone is supposed to be a void-corrupt ancient spider-people empire, and that idea is great. The plants and creatures also seem cool. This specific vibe of ancient insect/spider empire underground is very over-used in sci-fi/fantasy.

Pretty much all zones are good. Blizzard’s main-problem is the vibe of their story-telling

Tbh I was expecting more from you, you could easily put Dorn, Ringing Deeps along with Hallowfall in trash, because earthen look too alliance aren’t they?

Here is my ranking of zones:
1 Isle of Dorn - quite decent, but might get boring fast, another generic green fields/forests zone, the city and some other zone features like theater were something interesting though. Liked the earthen aesthethics.
2 Ringing Deeps - even though there are some interesting things featuring kobolds and such, but I was not too invested in “machine speakers” lore tbh, felt boaring
3 Hallowfall - awesome landscapes, and Arathi imo were bringing different angle to your usual human kingdom, the battle between light and dark was really cool. And I love Dawnbreaker dungeon for being so fun and quite easy, but it is just my opinion, I just was good at flying and not getting lost ig.
4 Azh’Kaheth - tbh, lacking, I was expecting bigger of nerubian zone, something like maybe we had in wotlk with An’Kaheth dungeon, which was really interesting to do and explore, and here, everything feels bland, and boring again, color palette was also a bit too saturated for my eyes too much of greyish blue tons. Even the raid felt a bit incomplete in terms of overall aesthetic feel. Too spacious with not much of the substance
5 Undermine, did not visited yet, but from the videos looking really cool, and I always liked goblin architecture, kezan was probably one of my favorite zones back then, so it is nice they bring another goblin zone in game

Undermine
Azj Kaheth
Hallowfall
Isle of Dorn
Ringing Deeps.

  1. Undermine. Hilarious and very well delivered.
  2. Azj-Kahet. Good zone, obviously less so if you’re arachnophobic, but I’m not!
  3. Hallowfall. Very beautiful, but the story is absolutely grotesquely bad, and the light turns dark too infrequently (though I’m sure the residents would disagree  )
  4. Isle of Dorn. Pretty boring zone really, but it’s alright. If I didn’t know better you could’ve told me I was in Khaz’Modan.
  5. Ringing Deeps. It’s just bad. Looks ugly, doesn’t even look like a cavern, and there’s pretty much nothing interesting about it.

didn’t you also had lush forests for your starting (eversong forest says hi)? So speak for yourself, other hordes got real wasteland like orcs or undead enduring the bleak dark forest, And goblins just have their big city vibes
