I know the weekly server restart is mentioned in the chat tabs when system warnings are enabled. But those warnings should also be visible as raid warnings with a warning sound ingame 15 minutes before a weekly server restart happens.
I just got disconnected during a major story cutscene from Dragonflight due to the Server being restarted and my chat tab apparently has system informations disabled (I have been on my Story chat tab for NPC speech the entire day). Now I have to make a note and hope that I can give up the quest and restart it tomorrow after work, so I can watch the cutscene ingame (btw, good work on those Blizzard).
I really don’t get why World of Warcraft has no UI indicator aside of the chat for such important system warnings. Sure, there is also a “Message of the Day”-tab on the login screen. But then again that message-board is only visible in the login screen.
Too simple, too old, too reasonable and too important of a feature to be considered by Blizzard. How do they handle such features in their small zero sum quota for sanity? If they do such extremely positive additions, they have to do another incredibly stupid thing somewhere else.
Now imagine making it an option you can turn off in case it interferes with cinematics, recording or such. That’s completely unthinkable.
Of course ultimately you have to blame yourself for getting so immersed in a resource-starved construction site.
