Raoadmap for WotLK

Dear Blizzard Team,

Ulduar is out for 3 month, and raid groups are breaking up, as more and more players are tired of Ulduar and taking a break of the game. They have cleared it in the first 6 IDs, Hardmodes are on farm status even in PuG raids.

The community has no insights of the next patch and what you have in mind. It feels super bad. We had 3 class tunings in the last 3 month but no infos about the next patch and plans.

  • When will ToGC be available?
  • Are there any adjustments planned of iLvl in ToGC and following up on ICC as well?
  • What will happen to the HC+ dungeons and Loot table?
  • What about the loot and iLvl of the new dungeon ToC?
  • When will be 232 relics, sigils and a like be purchasable?
  • Any infos on RDF for leveling, capped till 70 and available again for HC and HC+ dungeons?
  • will we get another 50%+ XP boost for alts?

There are plenty more open questions i think within the community, but we need you to help us Blizzard.

With retail you showed a very transparent way to the gamers but for wotlk only silence in the last month. You can do better.

Good questions but one thing I can already tell you:

No. They openly communicated about the ilvl buff before Wrath released.

They also said no class changes :man_shrugging:

They never said that for Wrath. (For some reason Classic players are very good at inventing blizzard statements)
And also the main reason they are not doing it is because for Ulduar they had a real problem to solve: In their eyes ToC gave way too good gear compared to Ulduar. Buffing the ilvl of ToC would just cause the same issue.

I’m more concerned with how future content will feel with all the buffs they’re rolling out now. I think it will be too easy and even more people will leave the game after getting bored, which is why I think they should rebalance the encounters or nerf some classes to keep the average raid damage output about the same as before the buffs.

And then there are people like me who got their guild disbanded due to terrible situation with faction balance on realms before they even fully progressed to the hard mode in Ulduar.

I’m not tired of Ulduar, because I actually never had much chance to experience the raid beside like two or three runs on 10man version before the majority of Alliance players left Mograine and my guild got split to those who changed faction, those who transferred to new realm and those who stayed.

That position is highly unfavorable for getting raid group, thus I would appreciate as much time as we could get to find new realm to transfer at least main character and try to catch up with others in gear progression.

That is a real concern.

To be honest,

the problem is not valid anymore. Ulduar as it is, is for a lot of people easy, we are rushing HMs in PuG raids, for the rest that are struggling atm. there are propably coming some nerfs, so it is becoming even easier.

So, Ulduar that easy and a lot of people have a lot of the HM gear it is again not attractive to go there after ToGC is released because the majority of Raiders have Ulduar on Farm, all the gear they need.

The idea was to have ToGC and Ulduar running at the same time, making Ulduar for a longer period relevant and attractive. But that is not the Situation anymore.

Ulduar is not relevant for a lot of people and there main chars. Even Alts having HMs on farm as its that easy for a lot of people, not everybody i know but for a lot.

Therefore a iLvl change in ToGC and a difficulty increase seams reasonable to me.
Ulduar with some new Affix and new iLvl could be also interessting.

We need some communication. Roster boss is already decimating a lot of guilds, we need an update soon. When do you plan on releasing ToC? When do you plan on nerfing this current extremely long raid? Come on this is not Live WoW, we know what’s coming, announce something soon please.

Your points are definitely valid. However, you miss the mark here. You have to position yourself as game dev not as wow enjoyer.
They solved the problem that ToC is just insanely better than Ulduar by buffing it. When they start buffing ToC (and by that logic ICC) you will have a terrible imbalanced state of Wrath and that would cause people to quit even more. People forget that ToC is catch-up raid. It is not to meant for progression. It just existed so people have time to gather gear and defeat the Lich King.

And yes, Ulduar is easy. So is most of Wrath. It’s a 12 year old game.

Yea except that pretty much every spec have 3-4 BiS from Ulduar that lasts until ICC and you still want Valanyr. I hope you were lucky enough to get them in 13 weeks. My guild is still waiting for many pieces. Also, don’t forget the ~60% people that still haven’t killed Algalon. There are plenty of reasons to go do Ulduar.

I never said anything about difficulty increase. This will most likely happen as it that happened to every single raid in Classic.

God no. This is still Wrath Classic not Season of Mastery Wrath Classic

Roadmap for WotLK
(source: my dad works at Blizz)

  • 25 May: ToC global release
    – ToC iLvl stays the same because Blizz already said it stays the same
    – HC++ with new mechanics, boosted mob damage and WHOPPING +100% hp boost on top of HC+ hp boost
    – HC++ will drop Ulduar 10 gear with last bosses in dungeons dropping Ulduar 10 HM gear
    – New dungeon iLvl will be brought up to match HC++ loot
    – Relics, sigils and the like will NOT be purchasable, because Blizzard will have forgotten about these. Will add them to the vendor at a later stage
    – RDF will not be added in whatever shape or form. Do the quests! You hear me?? DO THE DAMN QUESTS!!!
    – A new joyous journey buff might be added to keep people playing the game, because ToC will fail to do so. Blizzard will monitor the situation closely.
    – Fire mage’s ignite and warrior’s deep wounds munching will be hotfixed, but the hotfix might be reverted if warriors make it into top 5.

  • Sometime in early summer: Blizzcon and Cata Classic announcement

  • August-September: ICC release. It has to happen at that time so as to boost subscription numbers for the third quarter reports.
    – No iLvl boosts here either, but HC+++ dungeons with more obnoxious mechanics and YET AGAIN +100% hp boost. They know we love it.
    – No more content after HC+++, because they focus on Cata Classic development.
    – Also no RDF, just to make you angry. But you finally get in-game quest helper, after you have levelled all the classes this game has to offer.

  • January 2024: Ruby Sanctum. At this point, the game will have turned into Cata waiting room entirely. Do expect, however, a lot of forum posts from warriors and ret paladins demanding WotLK-Era servers so they can swing their hard-earned Shadowmourne axes whenever they please. Blizzard will not cave in to these demands though

They should buff TOTGC bosses, otherwise the place is going to get roflstomped by average guilds like mine, and I mean roflstomped. Ilvl252 loot in Ulduar is better than the TOTC normal loot, I have better weapons going into T9 this time around than I had going into ICC in the original WOTLK.

Infact my weapons are also better than ICC10 weapons. If they don’t buff TOTGC bosses, it’s gonna be the biggest letdown. They should leave the loot as it is, no loot buffs, just buff the bosses according to the upgraded loot.

Honestly like idk why im still being forced to play the game some people want to play the game. I enjoy spamming dungeons and not having to manually form groups, stop what im doing and move to the other side of the map. It’s not like it promotes me from being any more social than i already am.
Not having LFG was nice at the launch of woltk, it was a niche system and it worked the way it was intended to. However now it’s kinda just a eh whatever, kinda outdated, a change of pase is needed and its actually time to implement the system that originally were in woltk.
I do personally think and feel HC+ should still be having to travel to the instances themselves, which is what most people are going to run either way for gearing alts or getting some mats or some other piece they’re missing.
I rather take RDF over 50% exp boost for alts because then i can play the way i enjoy the game i always have and thats not afking in cities.

Don’t worry, you don’t have to play the game, nobody is forcing you to, really. Where did you get that idea?

I have great news for you - there is a game mode where you can do just that. Since nobody is forcing you to play this specific game mode where it is not possible, there is no issue in you moving to the game mode where it is possible!

I quit already because of various reasons, but yeah blizz needs to be more clear with communication. That said the main reason ppl are quitting is either due to boredom (who knew wrath was a raidlog expansion! /surprisedpikachu) or the community.

The community either wants to buff all wrath content to mythic raid level so they can grind the brick wall with their teeth piece by piece like it’s a Dark Souls MMO (“I want my HM or HC purple to acually mean something reeeee!!8”) or they swipe and promote GDKP’s. Toxicity and elitism in a 15 year old reimagined mmo, of all places.

I guess the hard content from cata will win over a lot of these “we’re toally semi hc but require you to do split runs with us 4 nights a week from 20.00h - 00.00h”- guilds.

This is why they never should have fiddled with Ulduar ilvl drops. It will make gearing more boring in ToC
