Rares in BfA only drop grey stuff

I am leveling a new alt in BfA (currently 35) and of all the rare mobs I have killed so far… none dropped anything but grey vendor junk. I thought this was only supposed to happen at lvl 50 and above.
Is this the new normal while leveling pre-50?

Using warmode btw, not sure if that matters or not.

Which rares are you killing, and what do you expect with the drops? If I recall correctly, even during BFA alot of the rares didn’t drop any valuable loot, excluding Azerite (which was the main progression for the necklace). If you are looking for gear, you should gear up via other ways, and if you want any specific loot, you should pinpoint which rare you have to kill. Keep in mind that most of the rare loot is not a guaranteed loot, meaning you will have to kill some multiple times in order to obtain items you need.

I must have been confused with the Azerite drops then combined with recently playing WoD content where rares do drop gear, toys and such.
So basically rares in BfA are not worth anything since the removal of Azerite?

Not sure, maybe there’s some meta achievement for killing them all.

Well as said, it depends on what do you want. If you want gear, I would personally say that they are pointless. Many rares in the main zones of Zandalar and Kul Tiras are pointless in any regard to be honest. If you want toys, mounts and pets, check the ‘extra’ zones that BFA provided. I’m talking about the 2 Warfront zones (Revamped Arathi Highlands & Darkshore), 8.2 brought Nazjatar and Mechagon and the zones that 8.3 brought, the 2 N’zoth revamped old zones - Uldum & Vale of the Eternal Blossoms). These provide with the vanity items, but those were designed as the ‘Endzones’ of BFA, not levelling zones.

That’s probably azerite concerted into a grey item.

They weren’t worth anything even when BfA was current content.
