Rastakhan was wasted

He was only killed to give the alliance another undeserved fistbump moment. Hate me if you want for this but it is the truth.

this thread sums it up perfectly.

Remember what the panda told you, sound more appealing and inviting…

Next topic. Once my main account is back on track. General is so active new topics disappear fast.

I have expected this to be posted by you, friend. There’s a pattern by now. Only thing I did not count on was the lower level…

Though to say something relevant to the topic - yes. The King was indeed wasted and would have been wonderful to have more screen time. I for one would have loved an arc that would also focus on his dealing with the curse he brought upon his family and… Yeah okay, I would have loved for him to stay alive as he was pretty cool. All he needed in my opinion was to open his eyes, not to get removed.

The Horde Raid should have made it in time to save him. We went godspeed the minute we returned from Nazmir. But since Blizzard is pushing their woke agenda all new leaders have to be female these days. Men are just not allowed to stay alive it seems. Especially now that 50% of the Horde leadership is genderbent.

So that’s what it was all about…

To make one thing clear. This topic is NOT about alliance bias. I am posting this because even 4 years later I am still angry that they killed Rastakhan.

I think something along those lines would have been awesome. Maybe some kind of sabotage being successful so that the Alliance would not go empty handed, but the king could have stayed alive.

:face_exhaling: Here we go again…

Some female characters for sure deserve to shine more. Honestly I’d love Tess Greymane and Lorna Crowley to have more spotlight as an example. Others? Not as much. Talanji for instance would have been great even as a princess in my opinion. Instead of replacing Rastakhan immediately, she could have simply managed to influence him to open his eyes. And of course get in the throne someday, but not so soon. Still worth noting that she was the successor.

Warcraft always had strong female leading characters. Just remember Sylvanas, Maiev and Tyrande back in Warcraft 3. But what we have seen right now is off the rails. It is very obvious where they are going when a beloved character that has existed since the RPG core books is removed to make way for his boring mary sue daughter.

Many franchises has been going down this path. Warcraft seems to follow.

You literally blow up the golden fleet in the intro of the raid. Without the ships the Horde came for the war was as good as over because the Kul Tiran navy was superior from that moment onwards.

Katherine stepped down for Jaina. But to be real here, there was no reason for Rastakhan to do the same. Considering he did a pretty good job fighting against Zul, the other traitors and their allies.

No just no

Spend some time looking up devs on Twitter, you’d be surprised.

Yes. It is very obvious if you look for it. Male leaders get removed especially on the Horde side. Talanji, Rata, Rakera, Loti and Zolani are all essentially the same characters with no personality beyond “strong grumpy woman.”

That is true indeed. Overall the writing could use a bit of improvement I’d say, though.

Look, I am also unhappy. Rastakhan was very cool. Model, voice… And I think it would have been cool to see even someone like him capable to change a little - being a good ruler for his people.
However I would not say that Talanji is necessarily boring. Could use some improvements, of course, but still. The best would be for me if both of them remained alive.

I simply do not think it is worth stating this again. The last two threads of that kind had about 800 and over 1k replies. I feel like that got enough spotlight already.

The Alliance needed a reason to do the raid is all I mean. Perhaps it could work that some of those “stealth agents” actually got captured, including Shaw? He could have a lot of information and thus would be needed to rescue. So the Alliance would have a reason to go in there while the Horde wouldn’t need to be decimated.
Of course though, this is something I only gave like 2 minutes of thought. So all would need more work. Even the idea could be a lot better.

Aye. Like I mentioned - would have loved to see more of him.

Well… We know how that went (not really good for him). But really, a part of his arc could have been simply helping solve the problem alongside the new Horde allies and meanwhile growing as a character.

Since the ending for Bfa she has been benched. She has no purpose outside of the Zandalari plot since those are either dragons or the cosmic forces like it did with shadowlands. 5 years of doing nothing and being forced to accept a peace treaty that spits on the suffering of the Zandalari. I am willing to say that as far as the bigger story is concerned we will not see her doing anything noteworthy again any time soon. Shadow’s Rising exists to show that her own people are still unhappy with her rule and that the Horde has to use violence to make sure the Zandalari don’t straight up leave the faction and go back to isoloationism after the alignment to the Horde has done nothing for them. That is what Talanji has to deal with. Her rule is not secure because of the Horde council accepting peace over revenge for Rastakhan. Because in the 200 years of his reign he was actually beloved by his people and Zul had to rely on blood trolls and Sethrak to bolster his numbers to even reach Zuldazar and destroy the seal that kept G’huun imprisoned. Which is also wasted potential considering we didn’t even get a cinematic after Uldir was over. The one good thing the Horde does and it is ignored by Blizzard.

Edith: What I basically want from the story with how Talanji acts towards the Horde council is this:

real talk, have we heard of anything from talanji after the end of BFA?

Nothing. Which just further proves my point. She only exists to make Rastakhan look bad and having someone as Zandalari leader who is able to accept the peace treaty.

Are there any female characters you like in WoW?

Sylvanas, Draka, Moira, Maiev and maybe Li Li.

current writers have wasted the entire horde lore anyway

trolls got hit super hard, between rasta and voljin blizzard didnt care much about the oldest race in their game, butchering a mythical king and an over the top leader on paper of one of the og race
