Rate all expantions /10

Quick disclamer , Im rating the expansions 10-0 , 10 being the best expansion , not being 100% great expansion.Yes , my №1 pick has problems and is not 100% great.

MoP - 10/10 - Best expansion ever.Best PvP by far.Best Raids.Best story(WoTLK wins points over MoP for continuing WC3 story , but objectively MoP has the best and most impotant story(especially considring the books like Vol’Jin Shadows of the horde and Chronicles))

WoTLK - 9/10 - good PvP , not great though , some big imbalances , great story , great zones , awesome expansion

Cataclysm - 8/10 - 4.0 was great.Best raids.Kalimdor and Eastern Kingdoms all new.Great game.Love it.After that though?Nope.Dragon soul patch?Best PvP except for MoP.BUT.NO world content.Very very bad game.Over all?Great expansion at the start , one of the worst at the end.

TBC - 7.5/10.Yes , I know people love it.And I understand why.BUT!Its the worst expansions for PvP.An unballanced mess. The story is a mess too.Zones are cool. And its the first expansion.A breath of fesh air.Its great.Yes , its not as high in my list as people would expect , but thats not because its bad.Its not bad.Its great. Its just that the other ones are better rose-tinted googles aside.

Legion - 7/10 - Good PvP (3rd best after MoP and Cata).Good-ish story.Good new systems.Too much time gated.Overall good expansion , but not that great either.Too slow.Too much gating. Not to mention the prunning , which ruined the game and got even worse in BfA.

WoD - 0/10 - This is not WoW.I wont comment on this piece of sh*t , because if I tell what I think I will be banned

*I do not include Vanilla nor BfA.
Vanilla is not an expansion.
BfA is not over , they might turn it around , will comment on it when its done

It’s good that your mind is blown.
For fans take great lengths to provide an honest opinion of the franchise that they love.

Like why in God’s name would you play Battle for Azeroth right now [/quote]
I don’t really play it, login sometimes to check if my arena partner is on and log back out.
That’s about it  hoping for some good pvp changes in 8.1, the way we gear to be precise and maybe some azerite stack changes. Then it’d be way more fun to me

I fail to understand how you can claim to be a fan of WoW and profess a love for the franchise, whilst at the same time rate the past 8 years of that franchise the following way:

You see, I would claim to be a fan as well, and I love the franchise too. But I feel like I can back up my self-proclaimed fanboy-ism and love, because I actually express a liking for WoW!
If you’re a fan, it means you’re enthusiastic about something. You’re clearly not enthusiastic about WoW when you rate BafA 1/10. So you’re not much a fan, are you? More like a hater really…

Grading on a curve?

Comparing the expansions to each other one can and possibly should use the full range of 1-10 available.

Comparing expansions to other games is a different thing.

I’d rate everything after Mists pretty low, but only in comparison to other expansions. I’d rate any WoW expansion or patch 1000 out of 10 in comparison to some game I don’t like at all.

No, I am a fan. Bfa is rated low to state the obvious fact. Otherwise, we would be getting an actual release date for wow mobile very soon, Isn’t it?

Even if that was to be the relative comparison, it still doesn’t make sense. Because fact of the matter is that the recipe for any WoW expansion is much the same. It has leveling zones. Dungeons. A raid tier. A gearing process. Some Pet Battles. Profession stuff. Etc…

I mean, they’re expansions. They expand on what already exist. They don’t really re-invent the wheel of anything. I mean, if you enjoy WoW, then you will probably also enjoy more WoW! That’s what expansions are – more WoW!

And if you like WoW, then you generally enjoy those standard ingredients of leveling zones, dungeons, raid tier, professions stuff, and so on. Because that’s what WoW entails! And that stuff makes up the vast majority of what any expansion consists of!

There’s no way the difference between any 2 expansions is so massive that they can swing a person’s feelings toward the game from 9/10 to 1/10. The gameplay is – and always has been – the same tried and true WoW experience since the game was released in 2004/2005.

You can’t claim both sides of the argument here. You can’t say that you’re a fan and that you love the franchise, whilst at the same time trash the game for what it is and take jabs at Blizzard.

That’s like saying you’re a fan of spaghetti and meatballs and you just love the dish. But for the past 8 years, whenever it’s been served you’ve given it a mediocre or terrible rating.

Then you’re not a fan of spaghetti and meatballs.

The Burning Crusade: 8/10
Wrath of the Lich King: 8/10
Cataclysm: 6/10
Mists of Pandaria: 9.5/10 (I LOVED playing Feral in Mists )
Warlords of Draenor: 5/10
Legion: N/A
Battle for Azeroth: 7.5/10

The only expansion I truly hated was Warlords of Draenor. It was such a missed opportunity, and they ruined Feral in ways that are still felt today.

I hear Legion was great, but due to my personal life circumstances and having moved to another country, I was not able to play.

Battle for Azeroth has its issues, but since I never played Legion, many of the Legion systems that seemed to carry over are new to me and thus make the game feel fresher.

Legion: 10/10
TBC: 10/10
BFA: 7/10 (have a feeling it will go up though)
Mists of Pandaria: ?/10 (didn’t play enough to form an opinion, but I recall enjoying the leveling experience, so probably above Cataclysm)
Cataclysm: 4/10
WotLK: 1/10
Warlords of Draenor: 0/10

Mine would be:

Mists of Pandaria: 7/10
Warlords of Draenor: 5/10
Legion: 9/10
BFA: (To be fair, I cannot give BfA a full rating considering it’s 3 months on. We are giving the other expansions’ rating based on the final product. BfA is not final in its content yet. But so far, around 7/10)

I won’t do BFA, it’s too early yet.

That’s simplifying it. I have to agree with Grainne here. I have have expansion ranked from 0/10 to 10/10. There are systems in play that makes those diffrences;

E.g. I hate the terrain of WoD(which I put at 0/10), I found the story very unappealing, it had the worst possible pathfinder achievement, the world felt small and the dungeons weren’t interesting, except from the one in Spires of Arak. I did not like the old daily quest system, and Ashran(the city) felt really disconnected to the world. I don’t like mission tables either, and the garrison wasn’t all that great either. To this day I can’t stomach Draenor. Exception is Shadowmoon Valley, which I connected a little more with.

In the other end of the scale we had Legion at 10/10. I loved the artifacts, I loved the WQ, I loved Nighthold, the overall zones were very appealing and I connected with them. The story was amazing, my class hall(s) were heaven on earth(mage and druid one I just felt at home with). I liked Argus, I liked the Broken Shore, I loved the mage tower and so on. Overall I had the most fun I have had since TBC. It was absolutely great, and targeted me quite perfectly. Sure it could have been expanded upon, but I think they did a great job right down my alley. That’s ignoring how pissed off I was when the Nightborne were given to the Horde though, and the Alliance got unappealing Void Elves instead. But yeah, still a 10/10 in my book.

Vanilla: 5/10
TBC: 9.8/10
WotLK: 9.7/10
Cataclysm: 8.5/10
MoP: 9/10
WoD: 5.5/10
Legion: 9/10
BfA: 9/10

That’s an absurd way to rate things in my opinion, no offense.

I mean, what’s the index between 0/10 and 10/10?

I would personally say that 5 is the index. That’s average. The decent. The mediocre game experience. The “Meh, it was okay I guess.”.

Anything above 5 is on the more positive side with 10 being absolute perfection.
Anything below 5 is on the more negative side with 1 being absolute garbage.

And since I like WoW in general, then all WoW expansions are going to be above 5, because they have more things in common than things that set them apart.

Some expansions are better than others, but the fact that I’m here still playing the game – and have played through all the expansions! – should indicate that I find them all to be positive game experiences.

I would lack the conviction of my argument if I gave an expansion a negative rating when I have spent a considerable amount of my time playing through that expansion!

I mean, there has to be a correlation between actions and sentiments. And it shouldn’t be the level of hypocrisy…

If I have spent a considerable amount of time playing a game, then it’s because I have enjoyed it, otherwise I wouldn’t have played it.
And since I have spent a considerably amount of time on all WoW expansions, I have also enjoyed them, and my ratings reflect that fact.

You’ve spent a similar amount of time on some WoW expansions I assume, but it’s unclear if you enjoyed the time you spent or not, and the 0/10 rating doesn’t really indicate much, because as said, it clearly didn’t translate to so bad a game experience that you wouldn’t play it!

So if 0/10 is still playable, what’s the rating for a WoW expansion that you just wouldn’t want to play?!

“I rate this expansion 0/10, but I’d still play it!” Eh?

Not a Simple question but il give my Humble opinion.

Tbc 9/10 because in italy we dont give 10. I enjoied everything cuz it was new

Wotlk 8/10 less enjoyed slightly but the lore… oh arthas… falric… tirion wrathgate… the unending boss in hos… i cry when i remind these.

Cata 6/10 i hated it but firelands saved the day

Pandaria 7/10 i enjoied first months but i took a hiatus. Im emjoying now the content

Wod nd. Played too few time.

Legion 7/10 solid i hated demons but solid gameplay . Argus was bad A.S. The 2 allied races.

Bfa TODAY 5.5/10 at start i was so hyped. I love the environment but sincerely is unfinished. The lore… i loved that finally factions were the core. But i think the shoot Missed the score.

TBC 7/10 - Simply for Kara, zones and the music.
Wrath 9.5/10 - Deducted 0.5 because ToC was just filler raid nonsense.
Cata 5/10 - Some nice zones, but wasn’t keen, didn’t play it much.
Panda 4/10 - Felt a little err… childish to me, tbh.
WoD 1/10 - Harsh, but can’t forgive Blizz for the launch chaos, junk product.
Legion 6/10 - Bad start, then got better, but classes are all trashed now.

BFA (can’t score) - Haven’t purchased it, and probably wont, I’m just dossing around in Legion before I cancel my sub again.

Vanilla : 8/10, nostalgic and breath taking, but a lot of dumb things lower it’s rating for me.

TBC : 7.5/10, tbc was perfect, other than the fact that druids and warlocks were near immortal and fighting them was not fun.

Wotlk 9/10, Perfect expansion for pvp, pve was fun althou easy, it doesn’t reach 10 because of huge mixup between pvp and pve, etc.

Cata, 0/10 Quit wow in that period.

Mop 10/10, I’ve never had so much fun in wow as much as in this period, it was perfect, the quests, the farm, the atmosphere, the class design, proffesions etc.

WoD 1/10, they killed combat, turned sub into a monstrosity, my guild disbanded, I quit. the 1 is a perfect 10 for quests/atmosphere thou they always nail that.

Legion 8/10, it was good, m+ was insane BUT! so many missed opportunities, and the story telling was abit irritating in someplaces. ( horde gets wiped out and alliance goes : you betrayed us!, Gen attacking sylvanas in midst of invasion, sylv leaving him alive, Varian and Vol’jin dying, etc. and most importantly the order halls main mission felt like it left 0 impact.

BFA ?/10, I never judge before It finishes, I quit MoP at start because It didn’t feel good once you reached max level, coming back in 5.4 I was so shocked at how fun the game was.

TBC at the time: 8/10. Now: 2/10. Will never go to quest there EVER again.
WoTLK: At the time: 1010. Now: 10/10. Still love it.
Cataclysm: At the time: 5/10(I didn’t really play during this time) Now: 8/10, it has grown on me.
Mists: At the time: 2/10 Now: 2/10, Pandas must be exterminated, though I enjoyed Arena much during the end of the XP. Will NEVER go there to quest ever again.
WoD: At the time: 7/10 Now: 7/10, I like it just fine.
Legion: At the time: 9/10 Now: 9/10. The 1 point is because of the stupid weapon restrictions.
BFA: 8/10. I like it just fine, however, I do wish that they would add Heritage weapons alongside the Armors, and update the old race mounts.
