Rate the BfA raids

Ok now that the final raid tier is out its time to rate the tiers this expansion. If you could also write down what worked and didnt work for you i would apretiate it because im rly interested in hearing what people have to say on this topic. And im just going to say this before i start i hated every tier set this expansion so consider that a negative for every tier.

Here is my list:

  1. BoD- Altough there were some fights i did not enjoy, most of them were creative and fun, i loved the aesthetic of it and i dont mean it in a way that its a horde capital, because it was a raid design first XD but yeah i liked the idea of the pyramid raid. Opulance was one of the most fun and engaging fights i have ever seen and it might be my favorite for this tier. Jaina was another great fight were you had to be on your toes almost 100% of the time. Not a big fan of the faction swaping but it was an interesting idea and i dont see a way they could have gone around it. Best tier for the expansion and one of the top raids in the game imo.

  2. EP- Not as creative as BoD and i felt it was a bit too easier compared to the earlier raids in this expansion but again i had lots of fun proggresing and reclearing this tier. From an art perspective i fount i a bit dull, most rooms looked the same as anyother and with the theme beeing Palace i kinda was expecting something like kharazan where you will have a ball room or a dinning hall or something like. The fights were more simple imo but still interesting and very fun, especially Za’qul i tly love the realm hopping mechanic on that fight altough the tentacles were so anoying.

  3. Ny’alotha- Ok so lets get this out of the first i havent cleared it still (mostly because i have been lazy this week) but i did try out every fight in this tier and am familiar with the mechanics during the fights. Most fights are very cool and engaging (altough im not so fond of the fact that most of the fights involve alot of “kill a s**t ton of adds” mechanics) and there are some rly interesting ideas going on in this tier. Yet some bosses (fights) feel like they werent tought out well and/or boring( Shad’har the Insatiable for example, tough it might change my opinion when i try it out on higher difficulties) and are only in this raid so we can get to 12 bosses. The first N’zoth fight i found very fun , because of the fact you switch rooms as you progress during the fight and i was rly disapointed that they cut out the ability to climb on the tentacles in p1, it feels rly alkward clearing the pimples on live and its a relly a detrament to the fight. The second N’zoth fight (last boss) tough was a sheer disapointment , its a glorified add fight and it might be acceptable for a filler boss but not as the final boss for the expansion, especially when we have had Jaina and Azshara as examples in previous tiers this expansion. I rly loved the Prophet Skitra fight and i found the illusion mechanic quite interesting, cant wait to see it on heroic where you have to deal with the Norgenon wall. The trash between bosses could have been cut down tough or give is the power to plow tought them with something idk ,im only saying this because the time between each boss is horendous and at times i forgot that i was in a raid XD. The aesthetic is rly quite nice aswell and it does kinda feel like an old god city considering the limitations that its an instance and not a open world zone. For now its the middle tier for this expansion but it might go up as i proggres further into it.

  4. Uldir- I have little possitve to say about this tier. I hated almost every fight here. MOTHER was interesting i guess , but i cant add much to that. Honestly i cant name most of the bosses without checking first. I also hated the aesthetic of it , but titan facilities are a hit/miss situation for me ,i guess i was hoping for a more Ulduar aproach to it but instead we got a triangle with narrow walkways filled with trash. For me it was poor start to an altready lackluster expansion and it nearly made me quit for good (i did end up taking a break untill BoD after i had cleared normal 2-3 times). Like i said i hated all of the fights here and i didnt wish to check them on higher difficulties ( something extremly rare for me). It also destroyed my guild and it ended up disbanding ,but thats a personal expirience. one of the worst raids i have been into imo.

  5. CotS- Little can be said about this one seeing its a mini-raid, but like Uldir i hated every part in it. Yeah sure the bosses were chalenging but to me they felt more like a chore that fun. They were engaging ill give em that. And like Uldir it cost me guild i ended up joining during BoD due to again disbanding. Worst raid in the game imo and thats including The Eye of Eternity mini raid in WotLK.

So thats my list and its a bit of mixed bag but overall good raids. Honestly the only content that has kept my sub alive during this expansion.

Thank you for reading my wall of text and i cant wait to read yours XD.
Cheers.

Haven’t done last raid yet, but I loved EP. The other 2 (2.5) I can easily forget.

Err forgot them already …

Off to a good start i see XD.

Uldir:
Absolutely no reason to go there as Alliance. The cinematics that actually explained what is going on there were all Horde-Exclusive - the most important of them, told by the Sethrak in Voldun, for absolutely no reason at all since A+H have EXACTLY the same questline leading up to it - just that H gets a cinematic and A does not.
Apart from that, i enjoyed the first encounters (Elevator+MOTHER) the most…sadly, i did not enjoy the ones after those that much.
The victory story following the raid was also Horde-Exclusive.

Overall: 3/10

Dazar’Alor:
I cannot really describe the disgust i feel for this raid with adequate words. First: From a mechanical/fun PoV i 100% agree with the OP that Oppulence was my favourite fight by far. I did not really like any of the others.
But the most important point for me is: The only relevant fight in the entire raid from a story-PoV was Rastakhan…yet for some reason that was not the last Boss of the raid. The last Boss was a completely irrelevant sparring with Jaina that consisted of one single Zandalari ship decimating the entire Alliance fleet. May i ask why? Oh wait, i know the answer…because obviously Blizzard did not really WANT to end the “Alliance Vengeance Patch” with a fight that the Alliance would actually win.

All of the fights in this raid that you spend any kind of time progressing on are Horde-Exclusive.

I never had less fun in any Raid-Tier and honestly: Blizzard should apologize for this POS.

Overall: 0/10

Crucible:
The only purpose of this raid story-wise was to explain how Sylvanas gets the dagger. Which means this raid was, again, Horde-Exclusive. For the Horde-Players who have no idea how bad things can get: As Alliance you actually find an EMPTY SPOT after you defeat the last boss, you get a quest to tell Anduin about the EMPTY SPOT…and he then tells you that this can only mean Sylvanas got it, because, obviously, while you were fighting through that place with no Horde in sight at all…somehow, the Horde must have grabbed it right in front of you.
Wow. That has to be some of the worst story-telling ever.
The fights were on par with the weaker ones of the expac. Not particularilly bad, but not worth remembering either.

Overall: 2/10

Eternal Palace:
Solid raid overall. It could have been MUCH better if Blizzard would not have wasted so much dev-time telling the exact same story leading up to the raid TWICE (for A+H) and instead had spent that time to introduce more of the bosses in the actual zone and built Ashvane up more and maybe hint the love/hate relationship of the Naga with the Old Gods a bit better.

I LOVED the VO in the zone and the raid. Azshara’s VO is just grand. Great cast, great performance. Her VO alone added a LOT to this raid for me.

From a purely mechanical/fun PoV, sadly, i cannot rate the raid that high. It was ok…slightly above the other BFA raids, but it could have been better. I doubt any of the encounters will be remembered as anything special.

Overall: 7/10

Nyalotha:
From what i have seen so far (which was not the complete raid) i am really statisfied with it. The architecture is AMAZING. Simply for that view i would give the raid +2 points. The first few bosses had more interesting and fun mechanics than most of what i have seen in BFA so far. I heard there are issues with too much trash later in the raid…cannot comment on that yet.

Since i have not seen the entire raid yet, i will not give it a score. But if the quality holds up from what i have seen in the first few bosses/rooms it will be above Eternal Palace for me and therefore the best raid of this expansion.

While i do agree with many others that Nyalotha would have deserved more than a single patch after the expansion was basically over already…i do think 8.3 does N’Zoth/Nyalotha better than 7.3 did Sargeras/Argus. I think the way Blizzard explained where Nyalotha actually is and how N’Zoth tries to merge it with our plane is not only a good story, it also mixes really, really well with the insanity-motive of the patch.

I like Nyalotha.

Have yet to do Nyalotha, but agree 100% with the rest!!!

Uldir 7/10
I honestly had fun and really enjoyed fights like G’huun, MOTHER & Zul.
BoD 9/10
I loved that raid, legit, I had fun on every boss, and it was the tier I was the most active on.
EP 3/10
I didn’t liked that raid honestly, the bosses were not that fun, and I got really bored after the first 5 bosses
Ny’alotha
6/10
It’s overall a good raid, with great new mechanics, but man those trash, and that ending, Just… no.

1st was horrible, BoD was fun, except the last 3, eternal palace was ok except the 7th one, this raid is boring so far ( 2/8 )

Oh you just wait xD it gets quite intense xD
I love the new raid so far, EP 2nd best

I did not like that I had no idea why I went to Uldir until I did the Horde side of the story long after Uldir was outdated content.

I do not like sharing armor set with all classes of the same armor type.

Eternal Palace and Ny’alotha have been the most fun raids in my opinion. I have only done 8 bosses in Ny’alotha though, but all fights look interesting, and really like the zone design.

Might add more later.
