Hey
I level up and geared as Outlaw in random battlegrounds.
The talent that set blind to 1 mn 30 and the vanish reduction make Outlaw nasty for ninjacap.
But i’ve learn yesterday that rogue under shadow duel could interrumpt a cap with shuriken.
So i understood on map like Gilneas how powerfull it can be.
And also Outlaw is unmatched on map like Twin Peak / Warsong.
So i decided to play Sub ( i kinda like it too but 3mn shadowblade without possibility to reduce the CD of burst is kinda meh, maybe with exp i will not need it for kill but i will try to adapt. °
So since i outlaw i open with ambush and saber slice 5 kidney ( if pistol proc MFD -> BTE -> PS thank to legendary Greenskin wicker i am often succesfull in burst as rogue, but kinda RNG). I am now in my own to learn sub.
I saw pikaboo opening Shadowstrike -> Flagellation -> MFD -> Kidney.
It look like a arena rotation but i am suspicious for RBG rotation to kill someone.
When i tested on random, i am very often tempted to open with cheap shot then flagellation -> shadow dance (SOD) -> Shadowstrike.
Am i doing wrong by opening cheap shot ?
What is your rotation as sub rogue in RBG ?
yes, but after you used all the diminish return of sap and you already used the blind versus a DH tank for example, well you gonna have to fight.
And also versus Flag carrier, or Orb Holder, maybe the rotation is different.
Because i’ve learn that sub rogue don’t open the same if the target is an orc or a human etc.
Since i know merely nothing as sub, i prefer to ask to fans how to.
priority 1) opponent is in a stun
priority 2) doing damage to opponent
open with cheap shot or kidney. press shadowstrike and eviscerate. if you are trying to kill someone (and stunning them), you should be in shadow dance. use covenant ability and blades when you are bursting, preferably early on in the burst. press another stun when the first one is going to fall off so there is no gap.
you can open without stuns if you want, it’s more damage if those globals go towards damage. but it’s assuming your opponent won’t react to what is happening, otherwise you’re sad. disrespecting your opponents in a way i guess. pika is doing that because he thinks he’ll get away with it, and a lot of the time he’s right because he’s fighting opponents who are a lot worse than he is.
your opening with shadowstrike is probably the highest DPS opening, but it leaves 2 GCD open for a defensiv CD. Maybe it is to force that CD? Was that on kill attempts?
without SB, flag is a bit awkward to use (due to it’s lack of CP generator).
I like to open with CS > CDs + flag > mfd Evis > then alternate SS/Evis/CS depending on combo points. It is very bursty with a guaranteed 5 CP Evis+flag crit.
A variant of that opening if you already have SnD and the 2nd lvl 15 talent, you can go CS > CDs + SS > flag > Evis > MfD Evis for a double crit Evis.
Tbh once sap is on DR, I play hide and seek for 18sec with the DH and do a 2nd sap-cap attempt.
You can also fight him on the flag and do a kidney+cap. It is exactly the same duration as the cap and will work 50% of the time with the help of latency.
I rarely try to kill the DH, takes too long. But my rogue is a bit undergeared (200ilvl), so that may be why.
I only kill the DH (never a guardian) if he is either undergeared or if I have the berserker buff. 90% of the time I do the annoying CC dance
yes this is incredibly useful for anticapping.
This is situational in my opinion. A lot of times I open with shadowstrike to cut the distance in order to save a shadowstep for when I am being slowed/kited. Obviosuly you don’t need to cut the distance if you have a lot of time to approach your enemy, but when I do:
Pre pop symbols, cold blood(and blades)>shadowstrike>shadow dance>cheap shot>sepsis>shadow strike>evis
However, I use what some may consider ‘noob’ talents… deeper strategem and shot in the dark.
What I have realized in this opener is that most players are too slow to react even when the cheap shot comes as the 2nd GCD, allowing you to use shadowstrike on the opener instead.
First are you using MA or the rotten lego . Both all in very differently
Secondly what talents you use
Rule of thumb for pvp is less of a rotation and more of a priority system , symbols and dance should always be stacked, shadowblades is good all in but not always needed or important your real damage cds are dance/symbols most gos
1:is it stunned , if not stun it
2: does it have find weakness? Apply via shadowstrike (although cheap shot should already apply this)
3:do I have 4/5 (or 5/6 deeper stratagem) combo points = eviscerate
4: don’t have enough combo points = shadowstrike
Openers depends I’ve ran with and without mfd and honesty I rarely ever use kidney on opens unless I really just want to bait a trinket because I know I can’t likely kill target in one go
Its hard to give openers because they change depending on if relentless/orc or not also , the real answer is just learn to not leave stun gaps they are Normally what stops you getting a kill because you left a gap between two stuns and your target could get off that defensive in that small space.
To op on learning sub , using shadow strike in opener can be good choice, there are times where the gap closer out weighs getting stun on first gcd but you need to know what response different classes can do, the real milage out of shadow strike from stealth is when you use it with vanish offensively to out play IMHO more than as an actual opener , sometimes its better than shadowstep because you get a gap closer front loaded with damage to finish off a high mobility target if they gave nothing left to stop you but movement
