Na, RBG requires different set of skill than arena but it is as valuable as the other. I like coordinating RBG teams, micromanagering stuff like sending people to different cap points, scanning enemy rogue meanwhile healing or dealing damage. Similiar micromanagement is present in both types of PvP, arena as a team deathmatch is about cooldowns and adaptive combat where in RBGs it’s about big team coordination. Though I admit that you can have “freebies” in RBGs that do not participate to the fullest potential and they can be carried. RBGs being an option made me being able to que up with my lower rating friends meanwhile having gear progression. After years of arena it becomes a bit dull to be honest.
I wish we had multiple ratings per character for that reason. “Rating slots” or whatever, one dedicated to serious competitive pushes, and the other for having fun with friends.
StarCraft II does this for its team brackets if I recall correctly.
It’s not really the ilvl I want to take away from RBGs. It’s mostly the prestige, cosmetic rewards associated with, you know, being good at PvP.
Do I sound like an elitist douchebag if I say that a guy who’s stuck at 1100 rating with a full set of 226 gear really shouldn’t be harboring an Elite title, weapon illusion or tabard?
Well, I think RBG should have it’s own titles as they do and it also rewards it’s own PvP gear cosmetics like those classic sets. I wouldn’t mind about removing cosmetics (tabard, illusion, elite title) from the RBGs and tie them down to the arena or whatever. And I support your idea of “Rating Slots”, would be great.
I just dont want to kill the RBG scene as it has been revitalized. Heck, I wouldn’t give a damn about cosmetics but I wouldn’t want to enforce arenas as the only way of PvP gearing. I would even want to bring back (fully) WoD gearing with Honor/Conquest gear with no rating gates. So I think I misunderstood your post there a bit wrong, as I thought you only meant the iLvl of the gear.
Edits: Maybe instead of sharing some prestigious stuff, maybe they should have their own? Add a variant illusion (recolor?), tabard and title to the RBGs to keep the incentive to play them. That way you can still differentiate the player “Skill-style?” But alas, I don’t think we’re getting much new stuff on the pvp-side.
I played 10 arena games in total,at 0 cr i faced people with 35-40 k hp as 194 ilvl geared player.
This should not be happening, because as freshly geared character you are gimped by 30 ilvl difference, which is a lot.
Arena is unplayable when you face people with 40k health at 1300. I’m glad RBG exists so I don’t have to participate in that cesspool. The reason you see a difference in RBG rating is because it’s much harder to boost.
You wanted to say easier. With 9 good players you put a clown on base and tell him to defend and call if something is happening like one of the most famous WoW streamers got boosted. They literally put him on base because he didn’t know how to deal damage properly.
nice try, but not
tbh i reached 1900 much easier than 1800 in 2s.
Rated bgs are way harder than arena, i have over 1,7k rated bgs played on this char, just getting people forming group, and increasing rating takes 10 times the time than it does in arena. You should be able to get even gladiator mount in Rated bgs after you win 50 above 2,4. Arena games are 1minute long you just press dmg cds and hope you get oneshot either that or enemy team oneshot you, In rated bg game last atleast 15 mins for flag maps and more for base cap bgs Like AB.Back in the days there was no time limit on seething shore for example we had 1 hour long game sometimes. In a time you get high rated bg rating you get it 10 times over in arena. And dmg in rated bgs does not matter i won and lost many games where we had crazy dmg advantage or enemy team had and we beat them, so it is about playing objectives compared to arena that is easy deathmatch.
Are they though?
I mean, really, are they? https://bit.ly/3si2sDj
What does that prove? They play other brackets for fun i bet as they reached rating needed for gear in rated bgs.WInrate does not mean you are hardstuck when will you people learn the truth that you cam climb rating even with sub 50% winrate as mmr is still a factor.
Please if you have no knowledge about a certain topic, then dont spread missinformation among our fellow players
thank you
How can RBG take less skill than arena when it often ends up as a 8v8 arena match in key positions which requires voice communication between many more people?
I have over 40k hours in this game i have lot of knowledge. This is the truth of SL arena if you are denying then so be it.NO1 cares about rank1 arena only hundred people play it maybe in that bracket this experience i summarized is present in other 99% brackets.
The main goal in RBG isn’t killing but completing the objective. In arena even minor defensive mistakes can cost you a game since there rarely is any coming back from losing a team member whereas RBG is more forgiving in that regard. That and much like with raiding it’s easier to make up for bad players the bigger the group gets.
Kids, learn from this. 40k hours and this is result, yikes.
Irrelevant. Organising a team to get a game going has nothing to do with the gameplay itself.
Only happens regularly in low rated games. Higher up and people will start knowing how to counter things and you can’t rely on bursting opponents down in the opener.
Lol.
Absolutely not.
Sure, if you’re at low CR and don’t know how the game works.
At the very high ratings, it’s often games don’t last that long at all, because teams leave the moment it seems lost
Bring out the screenshots, I call big X on that.
It’s almost like… Arenas in general are faster (but even then have matches that last for longer than the average RBG) and are quicker paced Where a single mistake can cause a loss (That alone, makes arenas harder than RBGs)
The fact you think Arena is just a Deathmatch, with nothing more to it, showcases how clueless you are
You may have 40k hours in the game, but evidently not a lot of knowledge regarding it.
If we didn’t have ilvls tied to rating rated bg’s wouldn’t pose a problem.
Personally I don’t really care if rated bg’s are easier, if people want to do them either because they actually enjoy them or because they are easier it’s fine. I just don’t like how much of an advantage they give people now. It should be possible to gear up in low rated arenas without giving the feeling of smashing your head against a wall.
