After the S2 rework, Resto Druids now have a Moonkin form talent choice early in the tree, and then Fluid form to shift them into Moonkin form all the way at the bottom of the talent tree.
To make the joke worse, the initial talent made wrath “extend” the Moonkin form duration by 1second, which made zero sense because Moonkin form didn’t have a timer. That was removed a few days later, but the horribly organized talent tree remains.
There is zero need for a Resto Druid with ranged dps to waste a talent point on being shifted into Moonkin form after casting Wrath because you can just insta-shift into Moonkin form and get the bonuses right away - especially if you have time to only cast 1 or 2 wraths.
The talent Fluid form serves no purpose for a rdrood dealing dmg with spells rather than cat weaving.
And not to delve too deeply into all the other issues with the druid spec in this era of wow, but to mention the atrocious Hero talents that basically force you into keeper of the grove builds - if you i.e. wanted to go with Nourish for a rotation more similar to WotLK rdrood, there’s no feasible way to do so - WHY even put half the talents in the talent tree if they’re completely unusable…
Not saying rdruids are in a bad place in the current meta, but talk about poor development of a class when many talents are straight up obsolete in any case.
“There is zero need for a Resto Druid with ranged dps to waste a talent point on being shifted into Moonkin form after casting Wrath because you can just insta-shift into Moonkin form and get the bonuses right away - especially if you have time to only cast 1 or 2 wraths.”
Casting Moonkin Form costs a global whereas getting into Moonkin Form via Fluid Form doesnt (except for the Wrath cast). One can argue that Moonkin Form isn’t even that good for dps since you lose the haste from Lycaras Techings but thats another topic.
“but to mention the atrocious Hero talents that basically force you into keeper of the grove builds”
Only if you are talking about raid. In M+, Wildstalker is arguably stronger
“if you i.e. wanted to go with Nourish for a rotation more similar to WotLK rdrood, there’s no feasible way to do so”
Personal opinion: I am grateful for that. If I wanted to spam cast long cast time heals, I would just play a Shaman. Personally, I wouldn’t mind them removing this spell
To many globals are involved to be viable
Lazy talent u save 1 click
You often have time in pvp/pve scenarios to switch manually into Moonkin before mixing in a few wraths, so simply saving 1gcd isn’t remotely valuable enough to warrant a talent being at the very end of a tech tree…
Moonkin form directly increases your healing done by 5-10% in M+. Also, Keeper is top tier in M+ at the moment.
As for the rotations, I prefer playing smart and mixing in Nourish than spamming rejuvs.
It is definitely weaker for Moonkin players since Moonkin form in itself is rather weak (since you lose 6% haste for mastery) and you don’t need the form to do your damage (different to cat players). However, Fluid Form allows you too kick in every form, I would take it just for that benefit.
How does Moonkin Form increase your healing by 5-10%? It increases spell DAMAGE + you get some mastery instead of haste…
You are not spamming Rejuvs anyway (just some for healing checks and abundance stacks), you are spamming Regrowths which are pretty much just fast nourishes.
In what world is Keeper of the Grove top tier in m+? Every good druid plays Wildstalker
Did you read the tooltip of “Vigorous Creepers”? “Symbiotic Blooms increase the healing your spells do to affected targets by 20%.” This alone makes Wildstalker incredibly strong
