Reagent Bag: This is madness 🫠

Who the hell thought that it’s a good idea to code this bag to override other bags and already existing stacks of reagents, and just brainlessly funnel every reagent into a new bag.

18 years of game design, and they make such stupid design mistakes.

I’m struggling to see what the issue is but I could be missing the point you’re trying to make.

To free up bag space we have a bag solely for materials, why wouldn’t you have your stacks in there?

Because the game splits reagents.

Let’s say your Reagent bag is full and Reagent A goes into another bag.
But then you use a reagent from reagent bag for your stuff and free up a slot in Reagent bag.
Next time you pick up Reagent A it goes into that slot.
So you will have to stacks of Reagent A. One in another bag. Another in reagent bag. I already gave up sorting this. Two bags of duplicate stacks. Whatever.

And don’t get me started on three stacks of each herb etc. Just goodbye.

Still don’t see the problem…

Isn’t it normal if your reagent bag is full it goes to other available slots aka regular bags?

Imo there is just way to much cluttering my bagspace, it’s even worse then SL… :man_facepalming:

the point the OP is trying to make is this:

let’s say you put 10x cloth in your actual bag
the next time you loot cloth, it’ll go straight to your reagant bag
now you have 2 stacks of cloth consuming 2 slots while they can stack into each other.

i agree
it should prioritize existing stacks in the bag and stack on top of them rather than going straight to reagent bag
not a big a deal, but with bigger bags and lots of items in the bag things start getting messy.

But why would you ever do that, what’s the use off a reagant bag if you do this…

Why don’t you just…buy a bigger reagent bag or empty it into your bank more frequently?

sometimes it just happens without you noticing
let’s say your regeant bag is full, all mats are now goign to your bag

you clear up your reagent bag and forget that you still have cloth in your actual bag
it happens and can be easy to miss if you have lots of random stuff in your bags

i fail to see the point
i have the biggest reagent bag and empty it into my bank frequently

Well if your reagent bag is never full then the game will never put a reagent in your regular bag, so you won’t have this problem in the first place.

If you have 5 units of writhebark rank 2, and your reagent bag is full the game will place it into a normal bag slot.

If you empty your reagent bag and later gather 4 more writhebark rank 2 then that goes into your reagent bag, so you will have 4 in the reagent bag, and 5 in your normal bag.

You have to manually combine them, otherwise they take up 2 bag slots instead of it just stacking the 4 pieces on to the already existing 5.

That is what the OP means with his post.

Wild mechanics!

My OCD is so high that I always have a near empty bag whenever I come across an AH

I never even used the bank once (properly).
Only too store my old legendaries, collecting dust…

Yeah, I noticed this with fish when I started fishing for Tuskarr rep - I was wondering why the ones I was catching were not stacking with the ones I’d already caught. The answer was that I’d emptied some of my reagents bag into the bank so the extra fish were going there instead of stacking with my existing fish. Surely it is straight-forward to create code that checks if any existing item is already in normal bags and stack there instead?

While we’re at it, I’m pretty sure that in the olden days the professions could utilise mats directly from your bank without you needing to go to the bank to fetch them. Am I remembering correctly? It would be neat if we could do that.

easier said than done,
but it’s not a big deal in my case
if the OP didn’t start the thread i wouldn’t even start a thread about it myself
that said,
no matter the size of your reagent bag, if you’re flying around mining and herbalism and world quests and killing rares
your regeant bag no matter its size will fill up quite quickly with all mats rank levels/ore rank levels/random elemental rousing and awakened/cloth etc etc
i’m not going to pause my activities just to head to valdrakken and deposit my items

the reagent bag is definitely a great idea
but there’s room for improvement for sure.

An infinitly big reagent bag!

On a serious note: A banker toy would be cool.

Its strange how different things trigger different people.

You seem angry about how items stack in your bags.

Where as I’m more upset with the nutter who decided to put statues and trees in the way on the Dragonriding Race courses.

Obstacles!
Can’t jump over fences when you’re flying, so what else!

I get triggered with buff frost mage threads :eyes:

well

rather than having a reagent bag and regent bank
there should be only 1 large sized reagent bank accessible from anywhere
whenever you loot mats it goes straight there
assorted by expansion/category etc…

there, that’s what i call a nice quality of life improvement to this almost 2 decades old mmo !

Edit:
i would go further and make that reagent bank account wide accessible by all your chars
the dream…

That defies the WoW development strategy:
Everything that’s old is useless and should be forgotten about.

Well for me, the Course a means to an end. I only do them for the 15 artisan rep I get with a contract.

So when I have to restart it because I’ve turned a corner and there’s a statue in the way, it’s quite annoying.

If I remotely cared for the Dragonraces (which I don’t), then I’d probably wouldn’t mind them so much.

Ikr, especially when it’s Fire Mage that needs the buff, not Frost.
