Reagent Bags and sorting

Could you please make it possible to set the reagent bag to “Assign to: Trade Goods” like you can with regular bags, making it work with sorting?

Currently, if you have your options/cvars set up with the legacy option to reverse the sort order of bags (meaning stuff gets sorted to the right-most bag first and the left-most bag last), crafting materials are not sorted into the reagent bag (likely because its implementation relies 100% on simply being the leftmost bag). Regular bags have the options to assign them for a certain kind of items, like junk, quest items, trade goods and equipment, and making the reagent bags either auto-assign to trade goods or at least giving us the option to do so would be incredibly helpful for people who still use the old cvars and whose bag sorting habits are built on almost two decades of doing so.

Blizzard says ‘no’, to the extend they ever will read your post at all.
Blizzard being Blizzard, Reagent bags are for strict reagents only, no room for any flexibility.

Please read my post again, and see what I actually wrote.

I am not asking them to put stuff in there that you’re not allowed to now.

I’m asking them to make it so that when I click the “clean up” button on my backpack, the stuff that’s supposed to be in the reagent bag goes in the reagent bag.

It’s not my fault that they decided to name it “reagent bag” since some gnomes are then confused about it being for trade goods (aka crafting reagents) and not spell reagents (which largely aren’t a thing anymore).

(Now it’s likely that they’ll never read my post anyway, as I’m not a content creator with a huge following and this is the EU forums, but that’s beside your second point)

The only way I could make is work, is to put “ignore” for main bag and assign the other bags to “Consumable” or “gear”
Its stupid really. Clicking on sort bags, I expected reagents to go into the reagent bag automatically. But noooo…Blizz’s coders cannot think that far ahead.

Fortunately, this appears to have been fixed, and trade goods are now automatically sorted into your reagent bag on cleanup if you have one.

Would have been nice to see it in the hotfix patch notes, but I guess I can’t complain there. Main thing is that it was fixed…

Hey, since this ticket exists, I will put it here:

The Reagent bag is not interreacting correctly or as one would expect with regards to a toon that has other profession bags as well.

  1. Profession bags should take priority when Reagent bag and e.g. Mining bag are on the same toon.
E.g. Mining goods go to the mining bag but non-mining goods go to the Reagent bag

  2. This is really a bug, but maybe I just don’t understand the logic.
I attempted a work around by manually putting the mining materials into the Mining bag. However, the next node I mined, a new stack was created in the Reagent bag instead of continuing to increment the stack of the same material that I manually put into the Mining bag.

Look, send this to your BA’s:

Given: I have a Reagent Bag and a (Profession bag)
When: I interact with a gathering node
Then: the material related to (Profession bag) is put into the (Profession bag)
**Excuse the brackets, I can’t see how to escape the correct ones

(You should easily figure out the rest of the tests given that one.)

For now, i’ve reconcilled to dumping my herb bag in the bank… and just filling the Reagent bag with 1 of each quality for all my herbs and elementals (and a few misc bits). Then have ‘another’ entire bag set to trade goods to filter that way. It’s a right faff.
