Realm balance and player population

There used to be a website which is a useful resource that measured player population through use of the auction house. What faction and race even class that people played the most or the least. But I think that has been lost.

So in terms of player population. What realms are close to being 50/50 Alliance vs Horde player populations? I don’t think it would be fun to be on a realm with either Alliance or Horde dominated player numbers.

Will Blizzard also have something like a realm population tracker?
I am an Alliance player and no interest in faction swapping to the Horde.

The website is called wowprogress
wowprogress @ com

those 2 alliance players in blackrock … lol

Once cross faction guilds are introduced we may see more people willing to go Alliance on realms and the balance will shift, you can already do this with communities but it’s awkward in comparison to a proper guild.

Cross faction players tend to be neutral. Faction pride have been a consistent thing for about 15+ years.
Faction swap is a paid function that will be part of the game.

They tried to balance things out through sharding. But its good to see some more balanced realms although they tend to have lower overall player population.

You misunderstand, players will level or use the paid service to faction change and remain in their current guilds.

I know of one guild who set up a Horde and Alliance version on their realm and have a community which they use instead of guild chat so that everyone can speak to each other.

Once we get actual cross faction guilds, more players will be inclined to make use of it. Although they are still limited to pug content.

Make change fraction like a thing what will not lost your previous progress when you will have or want in future change back. Make offers to players to choose switch for free + some reward like piece of gear or golds in higher value, or items what you normaly can get by playing (maybe some random box of rewards including mounts) + after switch give same amount of progress done - reputations, unlocked content)

None in retail.

According to some of the links Magtheridon realm is close to balance although low population.

Yes. Realmpop. Blizzard deliberately broke the API that it used. Wowprogress is probably the best general indication of relative realm size you will find now, though it’s not very good. Maybe raider.io

It is always better to be on a realm where your faction is in an overwhelming majority. That’s why there are so few balanced realms - players vote with their feet.

It is. It is my home realm. Don’t come here. Blizzard screwed it up when they dumped the overflow from Draenor here.

Hmm. It is important to check how up to date the data is.
Draenor is a Horde realm and have been for a very long time. So flooding Magtheridon realm will only upset this balance.

You’re still not getting it.

Balanced realms are BAD.

Magtheridon was once a solid Alliance realm, 70/30, and then Blizzard dumped a bunch of Horde in.

And at the time, we had RealmPop, so we knew the numbers.
