Yea, FF14 has a Surname you have to choose, which makes sense. For example there isn´t just one person in the world named Alex, they have surnames. Or like in Guild Wars 2 you can have spaces in your name, so you can choose to have a surname or not
Indeed that is a fantastic example, I meant about keeping our original realm as secondary name, like how it works in Retail I suposse. Nameofplayer-Al’Akir, or whatever.
Even they could half-open Thekal & Jin’Do to use that database to use names from there. Who knows, it’s a matter of start to work
I don’t think you quite get it do you? It’s not a force move but they are locking the realms with the intention of bleeding them dry. The playerbase is not static, people come and go all the time.
Infact it’s only done this way to make the process smoother and not over stress the systems by having the entire server transfer at the same time/date. The end goal is to shut down all the servers other than Mirage Raceway.
I´d be fine with that. I just don´t want to make names with stupid accents, just to keep them, when the people, who used the names I want haven´t been playing for years.
I hate everything about this.
Overall this is a good thing for Classic MOP. I had considered moving to Firemaw from Pyrewood Village simply because the Arena population of Firemaw is much bigger. Based on Ironforge.pro’s numbers for the likes of Gehennas and Firemaw their population size is only really doubling for their own factions. This solves a likely merge of all the PVE Servers down the line and Golemagg into Gehennas. Also regarding PVP Servers, do you play Horde Firemaw? Or Alliance Gehennas? Less than 5% of those Realms are the opposing Faction, it’s not really PVP anymore.
Based on the size of the EU English Realm, I’m surprised they’re keeping German and French Realms separate. Expecting them in the future to merge together and/or join the EU English Realm.
I do think they should have made a new Server instead of using Mirage Raceway. Limit it to one max level transfer per week and no Character Creation on the new realm for a month and that way there’s a fair chance to get a name you want.
I also think Guild Transfers should be enabled for people, that sounds a bit silly for having to reform when moving over.
I think the US PVP Server is an experiment, but they could have also thrown Firemaw and Gehennas together and see how that played out. However I think the Realm size was more the decider for many people going there that potential World PVP. They could also add Warmode in the future.
I’d like to see Retail servers reduced down a bit. Most of the Connected Realms are dead so there’s no big reason to me for them not to throw 20-30 of these small ones together and create a healthier Retail Realm.
French is def questionable, but there are quite a lot of German players, that doesn’t surprise me at all. RU not being part of EU-EN servers is obvious.
Just from ironforge data -
German raiders: >21k
Russian raiders: ~13k
French raiders: <10k
We are a guild that has been playing together for six years. There is no other guild in the world with this name. However, because someone else has taken the guild name, we cannot use it. How can this problem be solved?
There are so many players that don’t want this to happen. Saying it’s not forced is also a joke when new players can’t come to your servers anymore. Having gone through one server switch, it was already painful to figure out. I don’t really want to go through another change. But also they seem to not answer anything to us about how they will be handling changes like they normally don’t overall.
If this merge goes through like this, there is going to be massive losses of players. So many are not willing to deal with all the problems that are going to happen with it. Having guild transfers would likely make people more willing to make the move when they don’t need to start from scratch. We know this has been offered by Blizzard before, why not now. There are very little downsides to offering this when they do such a massive change. But losing all the time, effort and gold used to that guild that will be left to rot on closed server is going to bring morale down hugely and make people quit the game.
We should at least have guild transfers available to these megaservers!
many of my guild has stated if they lose their names or guild needs to reform etc they will just stop playing thats quickly 10’s of thousands of dollars they lose just because they didnt ask the player base what they wanted. So blizzard i hope yall are reading this. The player base do not want a MEGA server. If you want to do things like this you have the code from retail. Make it people from other servers can cross server join. But this. This idea is a freaking garbage fire.
Blizzard is Blizzard again.
For months people complained about dead servers and requested (free) transfers to populated servers. They went dead silent. And now suddenly they are doing the exact OPPOSITE of what players wanted - one mega server with only one week of notice. This is insane.
People want transfers off dead servers, not one mega server.
People who want to play on Mega servers already have Gehannas with like 20k players and now the people who dont want to merge and dont want mega servers get their choice taken away. How is this logical or fair?
One new pve ream and one new pvp realm is the way.
Is there a reason that you guys didn’t open a new realm and just do name reservations on Monday night or a different set date?
You guys may well have a good reason but the lack of transparency here as to why the decisions were made in this way is concerning.
An explanation as to WHY it’s being done this way may quell the fervent opposition… though I suspect whatever reason you have may be even worse optics and that’s why you are withholding your specific reasoning.
It’s really sad that Blizzard keeps RU servers as reservations even though the entire CIS community is gathered there. RU servers weren’t merged into the mega server during SoD, and on fresh they made a separate Russian server which players avoided from the start because they knew it was doomed to fail — everyone went to the EU mega server instead. If they do the same in Pandaria, then sooner or later the RU server will die, and little by little players will move over to the EU mega server.
But this would have been a fair way of doing it, we can´t have that. We need to pick one realm, where one group of people clearly has the advantage, because they already have their characters and names and all that jazz.
and then the mirage players are laughing to us here how its win for them and they dont care if we lose guild achiements + unlocks or our names. Like good for them. In addition having Anything, but Gehannas as the one realm to be is insane like why would you merge Gehannas thats already a mega server into a small server so it can become mega server. Explain this to me so it makes sense.
Saddly im in favor for GDKP, im the last member of my guild and i cant no longer give attendance to another guild.
GDKP at least guarantee the success of a pug compared to a normal one.
I spent playing cataclysm be farming gold only and when I could not find even a guild to get a boost for T11 or firelands i Made a new character on gehennas farmed gold again and at least i managed to clear DS on HC with a GDKP.
The merging of the servers will allow me to play the character that i played from the start of Classic that was sitting with over 500k gold with taking dust.
this is not a win for us. half of MR already came from HW back in tbc. we already lost our home before.
and now we get flooded with all the mega server players and gkpd and spam. /2 will become unreadable like on retail. this is gonna be awful and no one asked for this.
i don’t know where you saw that we’re laughing, not a single person i talked to here is in favour of this.
Blizzard need to rethink this ridiculous idea that they’ve just dropped on us out of the blue. NO ONE wants this. No one from Firemaw, Mirage or any of the other servers want this.
