Realm Changes & Free Moves for Mists of Pandaria Classic

Hello everyone,

As we were recently discussing our long terms plans for Mists of Pandaria Classic’s realms, we all felt that the “mega realm” direction used to great success in Season of Discovery and then Classic Era Anniversary has led to an almost universally improved player experience, with availability for grouping at all hours, Auction House health and a massive pool of players for Guilds to pull from. We believe it will have such a positive effect for Mists of Pandaria Classic too. Since these moves are very disruptive we felt that starting this process sooner rather than later would be for the best, even though we know many of you are currently quite happy with the health of your specific realms, so we appreciate it if this feels sudden or uncalled for, but we do think you’ll enjoy the results once the dust settles!

With next weeks maintenance and patch deploy on September 24th we will be enabling Free Characters Transfers on multiple EU Mists of Pandaria Classic realms. The PvP realms in the region will also be re-flagged as PvE to better reflect their current faction war status. Source realms will be closed to new players.

Destination realms will have their realm layout changed and player cap increased to effectively unlimited. No additional latency or performance issues are expected as a result of this consolidation of players. Expected times to process your character transfers will vary greatly depending on demand, we have seen previously under extreme load this process take several hours so plan accordingly, under normal circumstance the processing time is 2-5 minutes.

I do not PvP or care about PvP realms, but for the people who do - do they have to move to NA for that?

What about guilds? Would there be an option to migrate the guild to keep achievements and other things?

Please note, feel free to grab names now, but please refrain from intentionally blocking others names, we have and will take action against people proven to be acting maliciously.

Additional names will be available on patch day as we will be reigning in the date that we consider “inactivity” for Mists of Pandaria Classic to free additional names for incoming transfers.

So you had three options

  1. Pick an established mega server and let people move there where players there are there because its a mega server
  2. Create a new server so its opt in
  3. Pick a semi-dead server and force those people to be on a mega server

Is there any reasoning regarding why you wouldn’t just change the largest realm on each region to become a pve servers and let them move to a pvp server if that’s what the players there want. Can’t help but think the worst choice was made, apologies if this data is incorrect as we only have ironforge.pro information to go off.

To expand on this. you have actively forced firemaw/gehennas players to lose names doing this, the most active servers.

I imagine those who made this decision have ZERO idea regarding the community server being made a mega server, it is one of the only servers where GDKPs are almost none existant (atleast on the horde side). You are ACTIVELY forcing this on them as well.

Can we expect from this insane wave of fair and awful feedback you will take a step back and come to ANY of the many solutions provided in this thread that doesn’t actively hurt as many people as you are CHOOSING to.

You have so many options to hurt no one here, or to ATLEAST minimise effected parties.

Literally how big of a stroke did the decision maker(s) have during the process of even remotely suggesting that it’s a better choice to force Gehennas/Firemaw player over to… Mirage Raceway… And losing our names over that?

This cant be real, Gehennas is already a mega server - why the f would we have to switch to mirage raceway, just to lose our names??

So I just lose my name? What the hell is this. Instant unsub and honestly classic is over for me at this point if you’re going ahead with this
Edit: Just checked every name I have on Firemaw, all taken on the new realm. GOOD JOB BLIZZARD!!!

I don’t see anything about guilds etc… Meaning i’ll have to create a guild from scratch, this basically means that all our guild achievements and items linked to those achievements eg. heirloom pieces are just going to be lost… I mean wth, not to mention that names are already picked :upside_down_face: I don’t mean to spit hate on blizz guys, but out of all the half-assed things i’ve seen over the years this surely makes top 5.

please let us move away from the german realms to eu you have done it for the spanish ones, dont let us be stuck on german realms forever

Sorry but what was the incentive to move to one of the least populated realms in EU? Both firemaw and gehennas has like 5 times the population

Sooo… Are they just not gonna tell us what happens with guilds?? I formed a guild at the end of pre-patch, we now have over 300 members with multiple weekly runs, achieves, huge guild bank. Is that just gonna be lost??? This whole thing looks stupidly organised

When you tried to do this name reclamation in SoD it didn’t work.

Nobody in my guild has been able to get any names that weren’t available before, so it seems like it’s not working.

Can you please confirm that names should be available now on Mirage Raceway that weren’t before today? When did they become available?
