I just got back into the game and one of the quests told me to fill some crafting orders however there are none. After I searched on the internet I found out that they are realm specific My question is do they impact gameplay much? Am I missing a crucial part of the new expansion or is this some kind of sick joke by blizzard to buy realm transfers?
You’re not missing out on much and you can use an alt (or a guildmate) to create personal orders for yourself.
what is often empty is the public order 'cause players that active use crafting orders or do craftings for others do it using the personal order option and they use the trade channel chat to find players with specific professions or the otherway around.
you can start to connect with them by typing /join trade — when you’re in a city (valdrakken, orgrimmar, stormwind & co), this command does not work outside of cities and the trade channel can only be seen (read) and used when in a city. Once you joined the channel simply write what you need, people are usually very helpful there!
You will often read people writing stuff like “LF BS to recraft +link item to 447” (looking for blacksmith to upgrade/recraft their stuff…) or “LFW [tailoring]” (looking for work +link to open their profession panel to see their recipes" – it’s a very cut short to essential way of communication, so maybe avoid to write a novel ehehe
This is what I do to finish my weekly Orders quest, as well as to make myself rank 5 437 jewelry.
Unless it’s constantly spammed by boost sellers.
The bulk of public orders are no mats and not enough gold to even cover the materials so you really aren’t missing out.
^^ I do this with alts. I just put on orders for something trivial (unless they need something specific).
All crafting orders should be cross-realm and cross-faction.
They are already cross-faction, just not cross-realm.
Yet.
Right now? Not really. Crafting was a reason to transfer only really early that you could print millions due to shortage of high end crafters. Once everyone was able to max everything it wasnt that lucrative anymore (yes if someone camps 9 hours trade chat will make gold thats why we convert profit to gold per hour usually).
They can’t whisper to me or I to them. All horde brethren
/huntars and cryladins are welcome for fair trade.
Free if there is Trophy/Greater Trophy of Conquest in it.
on Darkspear and it’s shared realms it’s really rare to see boost spams as they have now their own channel know as [Trade: service]
Tell that to people on Dentarg/Tarren Mill.
I think public Orders should be Region wide atleast. And remove the 4 limit. That way if someone wants to sit all day at table and spam orders, let the guy do it, Why not?
What about others who cant spam all day?
it is same reason why raid lockouts, gear/content catchup and timegating exist - to prevent those with more time to get too far ahead and have advantage over others, be it gold, gear or crafting orders.
You either have to go into an instance together or you talk over another medium, like discord.
But you can still complete cross faction work orders on the same realm. I do them for my friends all the time.
Itss not ideal by any means.

My Apologies Lady Liadrin,
It was not my intention to overstep or to inconvenience you. I couldn’t think of that.
Yours Faithfully
They should just embrace cross faction fully at this point and be done with it.
That is true, but you can still accept and do work orders cross-faction. Having the option to whisper cross-faction would be really nice, but you can do work orders already for them, even if communication is a bit finnicky.
What advantage? If crafting orders were Region wide it would be basicaly Infinite orders.
Well, if they removed the cap on amount of work orders, someone (or realistically, some people) could be doing tons non-stop. However, I’m sure nobody would be that insane… (I hope).
