Realm population imbalance

This is unbelievable, I log in to join my guild on my server and I can’t log in cos of population imbalance, so now I don’t have a guild, I don’t have a server, I am not even going to play?

Of all the unthinkable stupid things I’ve seen this company do over the years, this might just top it all.

Go to PvE. There are no restrictions there.

Another topic that comes up each time we talk about realms is faction balance on PvP realms. We’ve received a lot of feedback on this since 2019. We hear you, and with Season of Discovery, we’re going to try something new: this Season’s PvP realms have been designed to maintain faction balance as they grow. Yes, this is actually happening!
However, there is a potential cost to this faction balance that we want to make sure you’re aware of: if one faction is significantly more dominant on a PvP realm, there is a very real likelihood that faction selection may be temporarily limited on that realm. That said, our overarching goal for Season of Discovery is for it to be a fun and smooth experience, and we are prepared to change course if necessary. Your requests for faction balance have been heard loud and clear. This is a new direction for us, and one that we’re excited to try.

Again, this feature will only be turned on for our Season of Discovery PvP realms. You will always be able to roll either faction as you wish on PvE realms. We encourage everyone who isn’t committed to the challenges and difficulties of PvP to consider a non-PvP realm for Season of Discovery. As an old WoW veteran myself, I can tell you – playing on a balanced-faction PvP realm can be a double-edged sword.

For the sake of balance, I think of all the great things the company has done, active faction balance is one of the best.

And yes, I’m aware there haven’t been many great thins for a long while. But I think this is a good thing.

That’s Blizzard’s problem to solve, not ours.

And regardless, it was obvious that having only 5 servers would lead to queues that huge, and that adding enforced faction balance to that would only make things worse.

We all know that for a release its often too always queues, they also said that pvp servers will have balancing inplace. I guess its better to play on a server with 10 ppl for you then with alot of ppl. Just keep to retail where there isent too many players around!

yep they used to do this back in the day with faction based free transfers aswell, this is chris metzen’s work i feel.

I think players need to understand how this system works. As others pointed out, just wait until the balance is restored and you can make characters of that faction again. The servers have been up for only about 24 hours, of course it is busy and swinging like crazy. Wait for the opportunity.
