Hello. so i started playing wow on magtheridon (had to copy this demons and their names)
and lately i have noticed my realm dropping from medium to low population. So i started thinking about changing server. I am an alliance player and i found that a couple realm have a majority of alliance players like Sylvanas or Ravencrest. Is it worth changing server or it doesnt really matter.
Depends what u are looking for i’d say. If u are looking for an active raiding guild as an example it can be worth changing server. Or an active auction house with a decent economy.
Most things can be done cross-realm and out in the open world you are sharded into different shards anyways, so for that it doesnt really matter.
This is the part that confuses me. As an example if i do a dungeon finder search i can be matched with any of the other realms or not? I have seen some connected realms and thought it applies only to them. But my goal is to find a nice friendly guild do some mythic keys and raid but probably nothing hardcore
Yes the dungeon finder and raid finder is connected by every single server. Mythic raids can only be done together with players from same realm/connected realms until hall of fame is filled up and blizz unlocks cross-realm for mythic raids aswell.
Well that makes this a lot easier. From what i heard on lower population servers ppl are usually nicer/more tolerant to newbs so finding a nice guild is doable. Thanks for your time and answers
I’m also on a low population realm and, because there’s fewer people available to recruit on the realm, we’re always super happy to get new people in so I’d imagine that other, similar guilds are also likely to be friendly and welcoming to newer players too.
You can find good people (and bad people) on realms of any size - although for smaller realms you might not have much luck looking in your realm’s forum section or in the guild recruitment forum (most guilds I see recruiting there are on bigger realms). You could always take a look at sites like wowprogress or raider.io to see raiding guilds on your realm and apply to one that’s at the level you’re looking for. Alternatively, my guild relies a lot on applications from the in-game guild finder so it’s worth looking at that too.
Good luck, and I hope you find a nice place to call home!
There is crossfaction raiding in 9.2 atleast, no idea how it will work but i guess it will be good for aliance players.
Wut? Source?
So I make gold part time , mostly because I find it fun and mostly because I depend on token to play.
High pop realms are not easier to sell things , the competition is steep , always more supply than demand. Goblins ( players who only make gold) They have several toons online same time just cancelling /reposting. Undercutting constantly. I know I watch their streams. They have toons on every high pop realm.
There’s a pie and those people are not keen to share a slice or even let you dip your finger into the cream topping for just 1 sale.
Secondly , no reason to transfer unless you planning to mythic raid. Magtheridon has many raiding guilds. Just google wow progress Magtheridon EU. You can see every guild what they are uptoo and you can find what fits your needs.
Thirdly , this patch has gone on for a long time now. Many people unsubbed just waiting for 9.2 to come out. So I would hold back you will see alot of people come back when a big content drops arrives.
Fourthly , you get constantly players from Silvermoon signing up to stuff just to check to see if a " rare" is up for mount drops. Meaning chances of finding those spirit beasts for your hunter or time lost proto drake are almost zero. Simply too many damn people nothing is up ever
Fifth point Queues on patch days and expansion launches. Look at Draenor in Shadowlands launch unplayable for the first 2 weeks of launch. Why would anyone want to go through that ?
Lastly people are like sheep , they see high pop and transfer over there thinking it’s better over the hill it’s not. It’s usually far more toxic. You’re replaceable. You’re no longer important. They can just get another Mage anytime they want. You become a sheep instead of a player and a person. You’re a cog in a wheel nothing else.
Wow that actually hit very deep. Nah i am fine as it is. Magtheridon is a fine place. Probably i am overthinking things. Thanks for all the answers though I really appreciate it
I like my Ravencrest community. The community is really tight-knitted imo. I’d disagree that the bigger the more toxic. Although I’ve witnessed that but on horde side. Alliance Ravencrestians are friendly bunch.
wow i can remember a time when magtheridon was high pop…
game really is dying off isnt it ?
this ain’t news.
magtheridon died after legion.
kinda sad, it was my home server for so long and it had almost a perfect h/a ratio.
Our realm is low population - was slated, I believe, for connection just before Shadowlands launched, when they pulled the plug on further connections without warning. And it has, of course, become even more low pop since then.
As others have said, it does have it’s plus sides. From a personal, player point of view - it doesn’t bother me. You still see people out and about (although you do get silly excited when you see someone from your own realm!) and mostly I level alts, do achievements and do a bit of casual raiding.
I have plenty of alts and am fairly self-sufficient when it comes to most things I’d need to craft such as flasks, potions, enchants, gems, etc. And through the process of my day to day playing, I can usually make enough selling stuff on the auction house to cover raid repairs and random “accidental falling off a cliff” deaths.
Of course if I want a legendary item that no-one in the guild can make, then I’m stuffed, because it’s unlikely to be on the auction house. So there’s that, too.
From a guild leader point of view - it sucks. We lose people fairly regularly to busier realms simply because they only use the auction house to buy from, and it costs way more on our realm than others. Or because they want to do mythic raiding and there’s virtually no mythic raiding guilds on our server. If any, now. Or because they simply want more than half a dozen guilds as their raiding guild choice. Or because they’d like to interact with people on their own server - or see chat from people on their own server.
And of course that means that recruitment is difficult too. Sure, there’s less competition for people on our realm - but of course there’s less people. So the majority of my recruitment involved new members transferring in from another realm. The amount of people (a) who are willing to pay to switch realm to join a guild that is probably very similar to guilds on their own realms, and (b) who are happy transferring to a low pop realm - yet are not the type to realm hop regularly, are few and far between.
So in essence … if you’re happy on your realm, you get everything you need from it, and everything you think you might like to do in the near future, and don’t mind the auction house prices … stay where you are.
Conversely, if any of the above isn’t true … there’s a realm transfer sale on at the moment, so if you’re going to do it, now is the time.
If you do decide to move, remember to check out the realm forums for activity, and wowprogress for number of raiding guilds/activity, etc, perhaps roll an alt there first just to get a feel for the place.
Good luck!
It wasn’t. Pretty full yeah but very much playable.
They have confirmed cross-faction raiding?
I’ve not seen any announcement for 9.2
Maybe they’ve seen something we missed.
there are no alliance servers on wow except gorduni, silvermoon, argent dawn and some german i dont remember
Stay away from Kazzak, you are not ready for the toxicity in there. But if you want to have a fun time go argent dawn.
streams of ah cancel/reposting?? …
many of those those are BOTS and they arent streamers roflmao
