Realm Transfer should have 1 free use per account

I think that realm transfer should have at least 1 free use per account and the the normal prices would apply, since I feel like especially new players don’t know which realm to choose, which was/is my situation. And they then find out after leveling their first character to lvl 70 and playing for a while that their realm is mostly dead in the matter of guilds. That’s why I would allow 1 free use of realm transfer for 1 character per account.

A player should check prior on 3rd party sites what the realm pop is, the realm forums on what the current balance would look roughly ([A]/[H] amounts of threads) and you can just create a level 1 toon at peak times/the time you login usually to run into the capital and ask questions.

By level 10 you should’ve atleast visited the capital once due quests so not noticing it being empty would be strange.

Ye “should”. Because Blizzards depiction of realm popularity is a flat out joke. And the so called advised realms for new players are nothing more but a big fat bait because they will have to transfer away relatively soon.

Stormwind/Orgrimmar are desolated places with Valdrakken being a thing.

Its to enable General chat channel 1 and the others, where players may be advertising also the realm discord etc.

General chat is also not as active. Even on high pop realms. Even Tarren Mills general chat is quite often silent. And we are the third biggest realm. It also only covers Orgrimmar/Stormwind general chat.

Trade chat gives a wrong image because its getting spammed anyway. Same for the service channel.

Exactly, I didn’t choose new player realm, but just some random one, it ended up being server populated with people from y country, but overall guild activity not so much… So right know I am wondering if I should go to different realm, I have on my realm only one lvl70 with mediocre gear and only like renown 14 max on dragon isles. But at the same time it’s still something, you know what i mean :'D

You wont get around having to find a guild through wowprogress most likely. The ingame tool is pretty much abandoned since its implementation.

Other than that Draenor, Silvermoon, Tarren Mill (connected with Dentarg), Kazzak and Twisting Nether happen to be the most active english realms. You will get the occasional queue during xpac releases and all that stuff however with Draenor completely taking the cake (and I would avoid Draenor because of that very reason)

So what realm would you recommend me? I’m fairly new player to wow overall, I like both horde and alliance but alliance more cuz night elves… But it really doesn’t matter anymore since it’s cross faction… Also Im mainly looking for raiding content since it interests me and overall active guilds…

Silvermoon is the highest alliance pop realm. Technically as you said you could go any of them because of cross faction (for instance my realm, tarren mill, is heavily horde dominated but im still alliance due to cross faction) but getting into horde guilds as alliance is a tad annoying because of how the system currently still works. An issue you wont encounter on Silvermoon as an alliance player (after you found your guild the issue disappears however)

All depicted realms are raiding. Tarren Mill houses Echo. Twisting Nether houses Method. Etc.

I see, I will probably choose Tarren Mill also, it seems like it’s not THAT dominated by horde and I take that it doesn’t have ny kind of problems with activity on guild part right? I am searching for beginner friendly, raiding guild that would teach me. Also so that I could have some friends that play wow finally. Since I have non

I do think that Blizzard should have some kind of population indicator on realms other than the full, high, medium, low.

As for the one free transfer, it still wouldn’t be enough. Many realms have suffered with their populations over time. We had a two lots of connections but now they seem to be approaching it from a region wide way of things.

I guess they should merge most of the low pop realms together into one or few. But why would they do it right? They are making money of off dying realms since 1 transfer costs 25euros

I think they hit too many technical difficulties the last time we had more connections.

I personally think they should just close realms and give free transfers anywhere you like instead. However, people don’t like losing their names. I understand that too.

I feel like loosing name is small price for active server tho xd

Tarren Mill has a 1 to 0.04 Horde/Alliance ratio as far as trackable individual players on wowprogress is concerned.

You will ultimately have to go through wowprogress to find a guild. Guild wise I cant help you since my main guild is relatively high and my alt guild is also raiding mythic and occasionally heroic.

LMAO I just found post from Blizzard, they just gave free transfers to 2 realms in the US cuz they were created in 2022 when there were high queues… wow like its understandable but like wow

I think the last time I can remember free transfers in Retail was during the start of SL when the lag was insane on realms like Draenor.

A new player shouldn’t have to resort to checking third-party websites just to determine the best realm to join, the idea seems very flawed.
Furthermore, it’s disheartening for a new player aiming to explore the game when they’re placed into a realm labeled as suitable for new players, only to find it’s far from ideal.

It’s unlikely that a new player would immediately recognize an empty server, given the limited time spent in the main city during the initial stages and the rapid progression through BFA questlines. Even the designated zones for new players tend to be relatively vacant, so it’s not immediately obvious that a realm with only 5-6 characters in the zone isn’t substantial.

Creating multiple new characters simply to gauge the quality of a realm is an impractical expectation and indicates flawed design. Therefore, I concur that new or returning players should have the option for a realm transfer to escape from a low-population realm.

Creating a toon is free and is recommended by Blizzard CS. Since you call it flawed, you should elaborate why if its so important that its impractical to do a little bit of research to see if a realm is a good fit for time that you’ll spent there?

Don’t forget, not only does the realm/pop matter but the local “culture/language” also does which can be gleaned at the forum or through ingame interactions.

Even if the suggestion is followed that a realm transfer is granted, without the player wanting to do any research at all the same thing may occur and then they would repeat that they’d like a transfer.

This option already exists.

to be honest if you do not have anything valuable to say, maybe you could just be silent?
