I went from honor level 0 to 35 in arena, and I full-stopped playing a month ago…

…because this happened:

The reason I quit PvP was, because I feel like the game has absolutely 0 integrity. Whenever I lose, I’m never sure, whether my opponent was cheating, or whether he was just good at the game. It’s impossible to tell nowadays for me, because I’m your average player at 1.9 k on multiple classes. It’s same with boosting. Whenever I see someone on a gladiator mount, I’m never sure, whether they earned it, or whether they were boosted.

Boosting + Cheating are the 2 things I hate about this game the most. The 3rd thing are addon requirements, but I could ignore that. No matter how much effort the developpers put into class balance, it all becomes irrelevant, when players are not sure anymore, whether others are cheating or playing fairly. @devs: We are all on social media. We players from casual to hardcore all hear about this at some point over 4 months.

Get your priorities straight. Cheating should be your n1 priority. If you have to implement something like Riot Vanguard, it’s probably worth it. Since microsoft buys your company, you could just lend this software anyway.

i dont support cheaters but i think the only you’re doing is trying to find excuses to explain why you can’t climb instead of just grind your rating and learn the game

You are 1.9k. People aren’t cheating at 1.8k-2k MMR. They’re cheating at 2500+ MMR, which is why all of your videos are made by 30x rank1 gladiators playing at 2700+ MMR.

Now, i get it, cheating sucks, and I hate that high rated players have to deal with it - but myself, i play at 2100-2300 MMR on most of my characters and I have faced literally one bot, and it wasn’t a full rotation bot, it was just a guy who used knockback the second you leaped as warrior. Never got a ROP bot, never got a full rotation ele bot, never got meld bots, etc. Why? Cuz if you’re cheating you’re gonna zoom past 2200 MMR in like 7 lobbies.

You are not facing cheaters.

Gladiator mounts are a pointless gauge of skill. Between class balance, participation, MMR scaling and passage of time, it is impossible to tell whether the person you’re facing who is on an unchained gladiator drake is some boomer dad who got it just barely by zugging as ret/war priest, or if its some power gamer who got all the way to 3300 but didn’t make rank 1 cut off playing an A-tier comp.

just ignore them. Its really pointless. Some seasons you have to sweat just to hit 2k, other seasons you get 2k while drunk and undergeared. They’re also account wide. If you got 2400 once for a gladiator drake back in BFA playing demon hunter with full corruption gear, that doesn’t mean you’re 2400 on your disc priest in 2023 just because you mount up on the drake.

At the end of the day, he has a gladiator drake, but he is on a gladiator drake in your lobby - why is he there? did jesus place him there to test you? no. He is there because that is his MMR skill level at that moment. I’ve gotten people with 8000 rounds (yes really) in shuffle this game, on last season gladiator drakes, that play worse than people i know who are 1800 rated.

My advice? record your games. I watch my replays on Overwatch. You’d be amazed the amount of times i’ve heard “cheater!” or thought it myself, watched the replay and realised he just got a lucky shot, while the rest of the game they played poorly. Record, rewatch.

No, I don’t wanna get that invested in a game, where cheating is so common. I’m not complaining about my rating. If I know lots of people cheat, I don’t have fun anymore.

That is pretty delusional statement, yes the game has cheaters even on low brackets, how do you climb if without cheating? Ofc they end up to top +2500 range. You are right there about the grind, it’s not easy but for healers it has never been this hard ever in the history of the game.

Lets think about the ladder, there are 100 players around who are at the top and they play also with their alts, so it means every player who play their alt just adds up already in to the ladder. Bots really do damage the whole pvp experience, scripting is cheating but no one wants to admit it. Because they are scared to be called out.

Recording own games is really good way to improve, you are right about this. People should do it more.

Cheating btw is so common, even those rank1 players run scripts like, once get stunned automatically use bladestorm ect.
Macros goes further then should be also, 1 button full burst rotation for rogues ect.
I wont play till all this mess is fixed.

Eh.

This game requires so many different skills: positioning, overall awareness, reaction time, understanding the entire toolkit of so many specs…

I imagine cheating can help, but it’s not going to carry a trash player to gladiator.

How much does the script does?

Can he literally stop using his mouse and keyboard and drink coffee while the game plays itself, or is he still controlling his character with some automation?

It’s sad that this company is so greedy that they’re not even willing to hire 1 passionate PvP player and pay him minimum wage to fix some of the BS we need to deal with in this game mode.

Yh I saw some survival hunter doing this a while back- but I am not sure if he was a bit or cheater, since he lost most of the games.

There was somethibg really odd and janky about the character movements and how they would always do the CC in a set way, no matter if they had a go or not.

Barely anybody is talking about how to improve anymore, it’s all complain threads about facing better players and losing, like how do you think you are going to get better, by permanently stomping lower rated people or something?

Yes there are botters and cheaters but they aren’t that difficult to spot. All you have to see to detect a bot is somebody doing the same thing over and over. Kicking you on 90% of a cast, pressing a defensive always on a HP % etc. You don’t need to be 500 IQ to see these patterns.

There are as many ppl in games as in real whose iq is too low to recognize or pay attention to patterns and figure how to then use this discovery for their advantage

Just like there are people dumb enough thinking there arent multiple people using cheats or always has been, but the bad ppl with cheats are not the problem they will remain bad its the people with iq and game knowledge who also cheat who are the problem

Some people are just really stupid trying to tell every bot related topic that game has no cheating or the like, when they simply have no idea what is really going on, cause they simply are too stupid to know better

I cannot speak for others, but when I saw how common pvp boosting and cheating is, I cared way less about improving.

You may encounter a cheater at low-mid MMR as they fly past you and head to high MMR, but the chances that you:

A) Will even detect them
B) Will be able to distinguish between a cheater and just an alt of a gladiator in starter MMR
C) Will see more than 1 in 100 games

are slim to none.

^ its as this guy says. “muh cheater” is just cope. Every game, always has been. No one is cheating in your 2k MMR lobbies.

BUT! You are welcome to prove me wrong. Anyone can - head into arena or shuffle and record your games the moment you think someone is cheating, post the vid to Youtube and we’ll all gather round the campfire and review this ‘cheater’ together :slight_smile:
