Reasonable arms warrior changes/feedback

Hi there, playing since wotlk but never posted anything on any wow-forums. Since I read a bunch of stuff that kind of feels like a „end of arms-warrior“ vibe I thought I might as well try and give some feedback (mostly regarding PvP and QoL changes)

I’m trying to keep this as reasonable and as constructive as possible. In my opinion damage isn’t arms main problem. The spec has solid cleave and performs decently well vs melee comps. The real issue is being able to apply this damage on ranged classes. These are in my opinion the most important changes that would not only make arms perform a little better vs ranged opponents but also make it feel less clunky to play:

1. Bring back Avatar slow/root-break

There are still countless roots, micro-CCs and up to 70% slows in the game so I can’t understand why Avatar’s root-break was removed. Not being able to break out of roots with Avatar is the thing I „feel“ the most in Arenas so far. In my opinion it‘s the main reason why it’s so easy to kite warriors right now.

2. Bring back Battlefield Commander + Rallying Cry speed buff

While Battlefield Commander is an overall good talent buffing all shouts, the effect it has on Rallying Cry is sort of laughable. 2% more health and 3 sec increased duration… In The War Within this talent used to grant us and allies a short speed buff, a much more useful and more interesting effect. Yet another tool that was lost that would help with uptime.

3. swap positions of the following talents

Barbaric Training & Javelineer / Anger Management & Champion’s spear

Champion’s Spear and especially Javelineer seem to be very niche talents for mostly M+ and vs very specific comps in PvP. Rearranging Barbaric Training to the middle spot would simply allow us to pick up a little more throughput by default.

4. gcd

How many times do we need make same mistake again and again? Please remove the global cooldowns on Sweeping Strikes and Ignore Pain. As mentioned before this would make arms feel a lot less clunky, allowing us to adapt to situations without interrupting our rotation.

5. lost defensive talents

While we gained an improved version of Second Wind and the new Talent Field Dressing to increase healing received, arms warrior lost other defensive perks from The War Within. First of all Endurance Training (5% more stamina) is gone. Now we also have to choose between Ignore Pain and Fueled by Violence, we used to be able to pick both. Lastly we lost the talent Valor of Victory (+2% vers & reduced cooldown for Die by the Sword). I also miss the talent that allowed us to increase Ignore Pain’s shield a little bit by dealing damage. Ofc this is all small stuff but it adds up. In the past warriors were never about self-healing but they sure were tough. I mean we have an ability that literally lets us soak attacks directed at a party member so please allow us to be a little more beefy again.

6. Unhinged for Colossus

The fact that Unhinged is now an exclusive talent for Slayer is kinda sad… This is more of a nitpick but Unhinged helped Colossus arms stack up Colossal Might a little faster. Also Bladestorm hits like a wet noodle without it =(

This pretty much sums it up. I’d rather see arms warrior be a little more nimble and defensive again than yet another % dmg buff. Also some people really need to relax a little bit. Asking to double or triple Execute and Mortal Stike damage is a bit absurd.

I would remove avatar from arms colossus, chuck in mountain thane as a hero class ability, dont care about turning into a stone giant. Thats Dwarf stuff.

Replace it with a shout or banner with actual impact for group play. More damage, more defense whatever.

Remove the cast lock from demolish and make it a 3 hit combo ability.

Something to help survivability. I only have parry and changing stance to mitigate damage.

Options for proper Dot Builds or High Spike smack build. This mix of both does not work well.
