Reasons to NOT commission the best crafter?

So with more of the profession system pieces falling into place, it occurs to me that to get my Inscription past 65, I need people to hire me to craft epic staves for them. Or I could spend half a year farming mats and crafting them for myself and vendoring them…

The first option is cool and all, I’m happy to do it, no fee etc etc, but why should I expect anyone to ask me to do it, when there is surely a scribe on the realm who is a more accomplished staff crafter? I can think of thirty ways I could be a better one myself, and they are all called “points not wasted on resourcefulness”.

I feel like I will be stuck here unless people feel like getting suboptimal output for their reagents because they want to be nice to me or they want my name on their staff.

Crafters are limited to how many orders thay can fill. The idea is you build a rapport up with a player and use that person.

Honestly, I plan to stick my orders up as guild only, then ping discord to let people know it’s there. I trust them to give people a moment to say “hey I could really use the skill up”.

Also, crafters will only offer to work for free until they have maxed out. Much like taking art commissions (may be talking from experience here): at first you work for nobody, then you take free requests, then eventually people offer you money.

It seems to be better to sell your skill up crafts on the AH.

That stops working when crafting becomes serious (and you realize what a mistake investing in resourcefulness is). At this point, other than a few very expensive dragon customizations that I doubt anyone wants to pay enough for, my only skillups come from crafting BoP staves that use [very precious] BoP materials. I cannot craft those and sell on the AH, but through a work order I can craft someone else a staff using their materials.

cant wait for the moment that m+ opens and you realise nobody will commision anything below absolute max level because they can get much better gear from m+

and whole idiotic system crumbles

will be glorious to watch this and tell you " told you so"

My guess is professions will make more sense once things get going and people start crafting/recrafting in masses.
I think the key item will be Artisan’s Mettle . Illustrious Insight as well as recrafting both need it, and from what I understand these must be provided by the crafter, and they’re soulbound meaning he has to farm them himself.
So even if someone has maxed out skills, they won’t be able to handle an infinite number of requests plus they’ll charge a ton for it.

At least this is how I understood professions, this may be totally wrong.

I’m personally not a fan of this orders system. I would like to just ignore it but the game gave me a quest I can’t complete because I’m too stupid to be able to fulfill five tailoring orders. I hoped I could just give myself five jobs but it just refuses to work, or I’m messing it up.

I have read various guides but they are not helping  So I’m doomed to have this quest sitting in my log until we leave DF.

I should get an alt to DF and see if I can do it that way instead.

Not sure if it works
but someone in my guild is using alts to give their craft main jobs for stuff they want/need
