Recent Ignite buff

Does anybody else feel like that 5% Ignite buff did absolutely nothing in 99% off the cases?

Since mobs die to fast in M0’s and Raid’s aren’t a thing yet (ST is where Ignite shines, imo) I feel like Fire Mage still does Tank DPS…

That 5% buff only was noticeable on giant pulls with mobs tanky enough to survive 20+ seconds.

Fire mage is unfixable with the current combustion. If they buff it properly then burst during combustion will be too good but if they don’t then it keeps doing healer dps outside of combustion. Combustion needs to be changed as a whole. It causes way too many problem. The entire playstyle is about having as much combustion uptime as possible. They are tuning the spec around combustion because that is the intended playstyle which is awful.

Understanding the issue:
The full crit effect makes crit our weakest stat and we don’t crit naturaly outside of combustion because we don’t stack crit. This is supposed to be a crit based spec with crit as a weakest stat… The spec is too slow without combustion at this point.
Maybe if they change combustion crit to mastery effect from 50% to 100% then crit would be a much better value than it currently is. Just buffing the spells by 10% won’t do anything to the spec outside of combustion.

Minor buffs to ignite will never achieve anything noticeable because it’s based on your base dps.

Let’s say you got 10% mastery.
Then with 10 fireballs, you effectivly do the same damage as 11 fireballs.
Now with a 5% buff to ignite you’re doing the same damage as 11,05 fireballs. Which simply isn’t going to terribly noticeable in most situations aside of your DPS meter giving a slightly bigger number. And even then, it’s small enough that the difference can be chalked up to the normal variance you have in a fight (e.g. getting screwed by inconveniently timed mechanics, or getting lucky with some procs)

Do you guys think the +10% dmg on Pyro and Flamestrike from the Tier set will #MakeFireGreatAgain?

Fireball, pyro and flamestrike just got buffed too. Between those buffs, tier sets, skb stat scaling fire will be somewhat competitive on ST by the time people are mythic geared, decent on consistant cleave of high target counts but not so much on burst cleave and low numbers.

It will get a decent tier set in the second season that changes the meta build and bring into a better place. It will be used more on high keys and prog raiding.

Third tier set will be a banger and fire will be meta again.

Just the prediction of a man who’s lived as fire for the last two expacsand is noticing a pattern.

The buff is too small. I see no noticeable difference. Fire mage DPS is still low. Make Ignite 100% outside Combustion or SBK proc more often with longer triggering uptime and rework rune of power!

And all the while none of the fundamental problems with the spec will be adressed.
But since fire will perform well in the MDI again by abusing the new tier set/ a legendary/some ridiculous trinket/some other nonsense it’ll be handwaved away, untill the next expansion, where it turns out they needed to make that tier set effect a permanent part of the spec cuz if you remove it it loses it’s crutch.

The pattern is getting somewhat annoying :stuck_out_tongue:
