Consider it like this, right, Consider RP is like a glass of beer. The RP realm is relatively full of beer, and can be called beer. Someone adds some lemonade (for the purposes of this analogy people who come to RP realms with no intent to RP.) Now lemonade is fine, in its own right, and there are many pints of lemonade available to the person who wants it. However they want beer, but more lemonadey, so lemonade gets poured in (more and more OOC’ers coming to the server). You end up with a shandy. Its neither one thing, nor another, so you couldn’t call it a pint of beer/RP realm anymore. However this is the only pint of beer left, and suddenly its not really beer anymore. Add more and more Lemonade, and it becomes a Pint of Lemonade with a small dash of beer. It certainly isn’t beer anymore. Add even more Lemonade, and all you have left is a pint of lemonade, and no Pint of Beer. This is fine for those who wanted Lemonade, who had the choice to get lemonade, but suddenly means for the people who wanted a beer, there is no pint of beer left. Everywhere you go is just pints of lemonade.

Thats the problem. It isn’t that OOC’ers are terrible people (apart from griefers, who should try evolving and catch the rest of the Human race up), but their very presence -does- (even without malice on their part) dilute the Pint of Beer that is a Roleplay realm. OOCers suddenly become the ‘norm’ and the last EU RP realm is gone. Kaput.

Sound like Hyperbole? It ain’t. Like Watrus a few posts up, I too started on Sha’tar RP realm, and it was bustling for RP to be honest. Then with more and more OOcers coming in, even though they weren’t griefing, the RP’ers got sick and tired of being squeezed out of ‘their’ realm, and transferred to the sunlit uplands of the last RP realm left, Argent Dawn. Every other RP realm suffered this dilution, to the extent that they aren’t really RP realms anymore.

Thats why we people get angry, this is the last realm where we can RP in an mmoRPg.

Encouraging people (who may be perfectly nice) to come here without intention to RP, is essentially trying to destroy the last RP realm there is.

Bad Danellos. Don’t do it… All the more miffing by the fact I know you used to play on AD during Cata, and Roleplayed there.

Seriously, people can get PVE and PVP -anywhere-, just leave the last RP realm alone.

I hear you. However, I must point out that there is absolutely no rule that prohibits a player from joining an RP realm if they have no intention to role-play, only that they do not pick inappropriate names and that they do not disrupt the experiences of those who engage with role-play. If you find a player who disrupts your role-play, you are absolutely within your right to report them because they are in contravention of the CoC.

However, I do hear your concern and the concern raised by others in this thread. My post was intended to highlight the failure of Warmode and the extreme faction imbalances that exist with this mode outside the edge case of the RP realms. I did not expect this to upset anyone, and I apologize for being a bit crass with my response.

I have role-played on Argent Dawn many times in the past, and I do have dormant characters there. :slight_smile: I understand therefore why this may have come off the wrong way.

I was actually looking forward to get an answer, to be honest. Can you MVPs please make the GMs aware of the “crisis”? There has been an outcry for changes for a longer time now.

MVPs exist so that GMs have to visit forums and the like less. They can’t summon GMs.

There’s no law that prevents me from signing up to a D&D group and loudly talking about how much I love anime over the planned activity, either. It’s just basically antisocial and disrespectful to everyone else involved

Something being allowed by a set of rules doesn’t mean it’s necessarily good - IDK why you think that is the case, even

Literally no one (not a single one) made this argument you are propping up some beat up super old strawman and confuse legality with legitimacy

Plus you absolutely “must” not point that out, instead you should accept that the current rules in place are insufficient

I actually made no value judgement on this rule, only state that this is currently the case. “Both sides” is a lame argument for me to make here, but I really do see both sides of it. It is hard for Blizzard to enforce.

It really isn’t. The server is tagged RP. Do you have an interest in RPing? If no, get moved to a normal PvE server.

Many long-term members of the Argent Dawn realm are basically telling you that the disregard for RP realm integrity IS ‘disrupting the experience’, which to me means that the descriptors and rulings on an RP realm need another look.

They really don’t seem to enforce much.
It takes a ridiculous effort to get rid of a griefer/trolls via report.

Yeah I think that’s quite cool, thanks for doing that brother (speaking from MVP to MVP here) but no joke I appreciate that move a lot and I guess it can be hard for someone outside the AD community to fully get the scoop of the OOCer problem +++
