Recruit a friend is a scam.. Doesnt work

That’s just it though, I don’t understand how we went wrong, as the GM’s just said are our accounts arent linked. While I have to agree that ‘yes, our accounts aren’t linked’, they just arent very helpful. They state it can’t be done now, but how did we know it wasn’t working in the first place. If it was a promotion in a shop we could at least request to speak to a manager or complain, but there’s zero systems in place to help us. We just feel like we have been taken advantage of.

I simply navigated to the main WoW site here: https://worldofwarcraft.com/en-gb/ then clicked on “game” → “recruit a friend”.

After scrolling down I see what linking a friend would give us, including a FAQ.

Even if there was a supervisor, I’m afraid that in all past cases they simply will not link an uneligible account. The policy applies to everyone, and you’ll probably get to hear this for other things in WoW as well that you can’t keep escalating it until you get a different answer.

Everything else has been quite thoroughly covered by other posters here.

Is there any official complaints proceedure? Or are they typically not phased by negative feedback?

There is the GM feedback you can typically fill in after any ticket has been closed. You can put in your experience about the interaction, or the policy you think should be changed.

This will not give you a response, but might get things changed in the future perhaps.

But about RAF: it was unchanged for years, and only after the most “recent” major overhaul did they also made a small policy change.

For feedback this forum thread is more than enough, and you can always use the ingame Suggestion section for quick fire ideas you have about things you think need changing.

You can also use a survey comment from a GM interaction as mentioned above if you feel a policy needs adjusting.

For Recruit a Friend it’s often easy for people who have had a WoW#1 Starter Edition for a few months to run foul of the system. Because you cannot recruit an existing, recently used account. When activating the link it creates a WoW#2 which can be missed and then you will upgrade WoW#1 and think things are all okay. When in fact you should be playing on and upgrading WoW#2.

We often can help within a week or two of this kind of thing happening, but over a month later is really too much time down the line. It’s why you should always make sure to test the Friend link is working right away ingame to avoid any future disappointments.

Customer Support regularly helps with RAF link problems, but we need to be contacted right away if there’s any problems.

The whole WOW#1 WOW#2 thing you mention above… Lost me completely, maybe we are just to thick. We created her account at the point when we followed the misleading recruit a friend steps. She hadn’t even played Wow until then. But, you mentioned that ‘Customer Support regularly helps with RAF link problems’ - There you go!

When you are loging in through the launcher above the “Play” button you have two options 1. Vesrion and 2. Account - when you click on account there you have for example : WoW1 (EU) - Shadowlands ; WoW2 (EU) - Battle for Azeroth

The system is very confusing for people who don’t know how it works, They need to make it more simple. It defo works if you do it right though , Done it multiple times without issues. I feel for you though due to the silly overcomplexed system that makes people confused.
