My wife and I used the in game recruit a friend option. I generated the link, emailed to her email address, we clicked on the link, it took us to the account creation page, we created the account. Guess what, one month in no rewards… GM told us there is nothing they can do because she didnt use the link, which is bull… So from our experience, avoid… its a scam
I can confirm this, we used the link and your link didn’t work properly
Generated the link
emailed the link
clicked the link
created new account with her details accepting the invitation
paid for the subscription / upgraded
1 month later no rewards
It was was one of the main reasons why i recommended she get started!
During the first month of your gameplay, prior to bonuses, were you receiving the in game benefits? Summon Friend, Extra EXP etc etc?
You can also check if your accounts are linked by following these steps:-
I ask this as the rewards are not immediately on the 30th day…
Rewards may not be claimable while the recruit’s payment is being processed. Most players will be able to claim their rewards within just a few minutes, but a payment processing time of up to 3 days is normal for most payment methods. For certain payment methods, such as cash based systems like PayU or Yandex cash, the delay may be up to 8 days.
We contacted in game support after 48 days of play, and were told that if we reported it within 7 days they could have done something, but not now… They told me my wife must have done something wrong, but we didn’t? It took us to the recruit a friend page. I added her as a friend once she was playing, but this just further highlights how it’s clearly broken/bugged
That’s why unique friend recomendation code typed on registration page would be way better than being redirected, it’s easy to miss it, or clicking logo and going to normal registration page, without RaF thing. Also posting this after 1,5 month of playing means you lost your chance…
He bought me a desk, pc and paid for my subscription. We are happy to forward pictures to prove we are a couple, but it looks like these problems are happening in the US as well, just a quick google search shows what a nightmare people are having… The problem is, we did not know until after 30 days there was a problem, and now the GM is telling us nothing can be done? We just feel cheated, after investing over £500 to play together during the Covid outbreak.
And there is no complaints process?
That’s just the thing though… in theory the process should be simple… We clicked ‘accept invitation’, then created the account using the proper process… and we assumed we did it correctly, ive been playing since vanilla so it’s not like I didn’t know what to press
Well, not really. Yesterday I saw someone flying around on the jungle hopper in Nazjatar, so it obviously worked for them. I understand your disappointment, but you shouldn’t go around calling things a scam when they are clearly not.
I do hope you get it sorted though.
Well, we feel cheated! We followed their instructions, and it didn’t work and when we ask for help, we are told there is nothing they can do, so yes, it feels like a scam because we are both very disappointed:
We did everything right, and like many others it didnt work… Nothing in game told us… oh better off checking that x or y is working first because it may not have worked properly within the first 7 days, we just assumed it was OK and then we are told nah, it didnt work… she must have done something wrong… but we did it together and im 100% certain we did it correctly. So be warned, send recruit a friend request at your own risk… It’s bugged clearly.
I take it you used the email address the email was sent to as the registered address?
Dottie’s point is very important as is
I generated the link, emailed her the link from my email address, and we opened her email account, clicked the link, took us to the recruit a friend page, where we used her email address to create a brand new account, all linking from their recruit a friend page. Didn’t work
Anada, in the game it mentions the rewards ‘view all rewards’ what it doesnt do is mention any of these things, so we didnt know it hadnt worked until very recently. I clicked the ‘Recruitment’ button, pasted the link difrectly from the game.
I thought the link was supposed to go directly to recruitees email. Sounds like you sent it to your email address first.
Edit: I haven’t done it for a while so the process may have changed.
It doesnt work like that - The game generates a link, that people are supposed to click on, and from there it takes you to their new recruit a friend page. So i emailed her this link to click on. We even did it on her PC.
Yeah I’m looking at the FAQ page now.
I have not been playing for very long. But my account is very new (48 days). I am sure if Blizzard wanted to help they could. They can see my husband and I tried and the system let us both down. He’s helped me level, do island expeditions, level my cloak up and he’s been great, but this recruit a friend system has problems.
take a look at requirements, all of them were completed in a moment of creating your wife’s account?
" Before the accounts are linked, the recruit will need to agree that their recruiter will be able to see:
- The recruit’s
BattleTag
orReal ID
(depending on privacy settings). - Whether the recruit has active game time.
- The recruit’s online status."
Did she get this notification to accept when you did all of this stuff or not?
Also are you sure no one of us did:
An account link can also be broken if either party chooses to break the link.
by mistake?
I sent her a friend request in game after she created her account using the recruit a a friend option from their website link i emailed her. We have been friends ever since. I used the in game link, copied it sent her it, she clicked it, accepted the invitation, started playing and i sent her a friend request which she accepted. We did it all together following their suggested steps. We did nothing wrong, yet we have no recruit a friend benefits.
From experience, the link has to be used to create a WoW account, not a Blizzard account. You having to manually add her as a friend was an indication that your recruitment had failed. It’s not really your fault though. This seems to be a pretty common mistake that unfortunately occurs because the whole process isn’t very well explained at all.
