Hey i have been playing some frost DK lately. To be honest the speccs is pretty viable if you put some work into it. But it could be awesome with 2h hand wep again. Just makes more sense if the class is going to be a GCD Machine. So slow and clunky playstyle would be nice if the obliterates actually do more than 15k on crit on target and i have 404 ilvl, pretty low compared to Another dual wielding haste based class, such as outlaw rogue which can do 30-40k crit with dispatch. just does not seem to be very balanced.
But i see one main issue in any sort of PvP related content with frost. unlike unholy they do not have any healing absorb.
Just remove Necrotic Aura from Unholy talents, and redesign Necrotic aura to do 0.25% of totalth health absorbed every 1 sec when in 8 yard radius of the DK, this effect needs to stack but if the target gets further away than 8 yards then the absorb debuff should be cleared.
This way Frost DK will be Become viable in arena and very counterable anyway. A DK’s main issue is getting kited, but when they get in range they should be deadly.
I ain’t the only one who thinks Frost DK needs some Love.
And as it is right now, unholy is impossible to beat as frost because of healing absorb.
So this is my suggestion on what little change i think could be a great way to balance it out.
While I do agree that Frost needs changes, I don’t see how losing 8% damage on frost abilities for an easy-to-kite absorb is a good tradeoff. Might as well just switch to Unholy.
UPD: I misunderstood your suggestion. Do you want Necrotic Aura to be redesigned that way for Unholy specifically, or both Unholy and Frost?
they just need to revert all the big changes/nerfs they did from legion->BFA
GCD change didnt help frost at all
bring back the aoe stun with pilar (this would also hugely help m+ utility)
make the talent aoe rooting with RW no be bugged and fail so many times.
any1 that played frost on legion knows it wasnt the best of the best, but the utility of keep a target stuck and geting pressure every 1min made them a good choice.
atm the role is basicly filled with unholy with 1.5min windows and less CC
i want it to be redesigned in such a way that. Necrotic Aura should be completely removed from unholys talent bracket, and only made available for frost. This way Unholy has necrotic strikes as healing absorb and frost will have necrotic aura
Lol no thx, Im really happy with unholy in pvp, why by the gods u wanna remove necrotic aura from this spec I really dont know. Switch to unholy or play another class, done.

I clearly explained in the above posts why i want necrotic aura removed from unholy and redesignet for frost.
but you clearly have not read that.
I don’t want to play unholy or any other class that is why i am making this DK topic under DK’s on these Blizzard Forums to hope to create some attention around this.
and if the only suggestion you have for these posts were people are just suggesting future changes or maybe pointing out some unbalances from their view in the game, is to just reroll or change class. Then please do us all a favor and just don’t post any comment if you do not anything to offer to the topic.

Unholy never uses Necrotic aura. the other talents are just too strong. so the Aura is useless for Unholy anyway.
Okay, I see. Still, then Necrotic strike is going to be a simply better version of an ability really. You won’t have to heal through the frost’s aura, just jump away/knockback (say, won’t probably help much against mw/rdru likely for example).
You are right. but it will help alot taking down melee classes.
Maybe it will not help much against MW/Rdru. but it will surely help just switching to their dps and let them run away for example
Well, it also depends on the melee, really. I mean, take a fury warrior or a DH. They have some ways of self-healing, and talents can amplify it. If you take your proposed 0.25% of total health absorbed every second and assume that a player on average has 200k health, that would mean that every second you will put an absorb for… 500 health. Needless to say, every class with off-heals will laugh at this idea.
I think all Frost Death Knights need to do is… chill out!
But in all honesty, Frost should really be an anti-mobility anti-caster spec. Beyond just Death Grip and Chains. Leave Unholy to be the necrotic, disease, rot spec.
Maybe an Aura that causes damage dealt by the FDK to start wracking up enemy cast times? Mobility skills are slower or do not last as long/go as far?
Which it already is. Same about movement, you can choose Heartstop Aura (slows enemy cd recovery by 30%), Delirium (20% increase on movement ability cd), Deathchill (rooting).
Problem is — laughable damage. Imagine if a caster’s top dmg was wand auto-attacks.
Heartstop aura is pretty nice.
But Delirium is just useless. i have spend some time testing it on mage, rogue, warrior, priest, drood. to see how long their cd’s would increases when having the Debuff - and they used their movement speed abilites while having it on - and the cd’s was unchanged for them when they checked.
i had a mage blink around every 20 sec, while having the debuff on, and it states on wowhead that the Debuff should affect blink cd’s also. does not seem to be the case
Would be better to just redesign that talent also
Maybe just decrease resource regeneration for 12 sec by 25% stacking up to 2 times
this way the talent would be extremely viable in pvp combined with heartstop aura. maybe even OP now that i think about it

Mana users 50% slower mana regen at 2 stacks
Dk’s 50% slower rune regen at 2 stacks
