Redesigning demonology mastery

Currently demonology mastery reads as follows: “Increases the damage done by your demons by X %”

I would say it is a little bit dull and I would compare it with unholy DK. Mastery of unholy increases their shadow damage and minions damage. And by higher percentage.

So the goal of the suggestion below is to create a mastery that is a more interesting stat to invest into that sells demonology fantasy in a better way while also providing scalability through the expansion.

The core idea of demonology playstyle is summoning demons and buffing as many as possible with tyrant - mastery could help with that.

My ideal mastery would read like this: “Increases the damage done by your demons by X% and also increases duration all your demons are summoned for by Y seconds.”

In case of imps that would have to increase their energy at certain mastery tresholds. Other demons would simply last longer - allowing for bigger combos with tyrant. The damage component remains as a nice bonus.

Another idea that I toyed with is incorporating the nether portal demons into mastery: “Every time you cast Hand of Gul’dan you have an X % chance to command 1-2 demons of the nether to fight for you for 15 seconds”

It plays into big demon army fantasy and repurposes the nether portal demons who currently see hardly any play. This would also have additional synergy with tyrant.

What do you think of these redesigns?

Turning mastery into passively pooping out imps or other demons like nether portal would be awesome. And way more interesting than just “meh you do more damage”.

By putting lesser demons on mastery we could have more main abilities around summoning and commanding bigger demons. Or, I don’t know, becoming the demon yourself.

I really do think this kind of mastery would be way better, simply increasing demon damage is very boring to me, having a chance to summon more demons when I summon demons just sounds fantastic!

Dev team increased demon bolt stacks legendary, we have last row talent for demon bolt and… they wanna see us with strong demon bolts, but mastery doesn’t affect it ))

That’s why at least it should be changed to increases dmg done by you and your demons

If we need the redesign of mastery, then we need

  • Make our spells scale from mastery.

or

  • Add additional effect on mastery, like “Main/prime demon scales better from warlock stats”
    • For example if we have 50% of mastery, then our demons will take 50% more of our intellect, haste, crit and versa. This change not only be in line with general warlock idea of empowering demons, but also made our demons much more stronger with gear and certain stats. And the beauty of this is that Blizz just need to add one line of code to each demon that will add dynamic multiplayer on stats of our demons that they take from us.

Но делать они это, конечно же не будут… И так починили управление 3 аддона спустя, чего еще надо то?

Pretty absurd suggestion. I mean 2nd row, like pet,s already scalling from secondary stats, mastery works same way with flat pet’s damage increase. Pet’s damage already dynamical, and this “caps” that u wanna see is not the way of doing things, case it makes numbers inbetween do nothing.

If we take a look at numerical values, then this suggestion is not absurd.
Our demons do very little damage on their own, and they usualy suffer from lack of stats, especialy at the start of Xpac. You can have 10% of the crit, but your demon will crit only for 7-8%, such diminishing is a curtecy of modern wow stat system. In more broad term, stronger main demon means that we will have stronger reliable damage source. It also would be a nice compensation for pathetich damage of non consumption tyrant and his capped buff for demons - 15% of the buff for the damage of the demons in the start and the end of Xpac is kinda not suit fantasy of master summoner that makes his or her demons stronger.
If damage of our main demon will be a bit higher then it should be in the end of xpac…well it is not a terrible thing really, we still have abilities like chaosbolt that is already deals fel tons of damage out of nowhere.
Increased scaling from intelect, crit, haste and versa is actualy a pretty elegant solution for underperforming demons. This of course will exclude mastery so we didn’t get a loop in stat progression. And on top of that my suggestion only applies to main demon, not to lesser demons or tyrant…altrough i would preffer if tyrant was more dangerous to fit that name “demonic tyrant”, because with his current non consumption damage he is not a Tyrant he is like a bulkier imp on steroids, rather then transformed eredar warlord.

We already have that, it’s called versatility

Great a nearly only pvp stat should be the best stat in PvE? That’s a great solution, epic fail!

Mastery is the go to for PvE so mastery needs a change

By making it versatility 2.0, slightly stronger, that’s a brilliant suggestion you got there.

But it can’t stay like it is now, I think the random Summon demon mastery found be fun too
