Regarding Loot rolls and a new approach to them

I have an idea regarding loot rolls in Pug Raids.
Now, I seldom do these myself as I am to old for that crap…

But reading peoples complains and critique of the current system it kinda got me thinking on how it worked in my old guild when I actually did raid runs.

We had a system that for each boss that yielded loot each member got 5 points.
Whenever something dropped the one with the highest score got first pick and if He didn’t want it, the choice went to the next in line and so forth. After the loot is picked the score is nullified and you start from scratch.

Now I think of why not implementing something similar to the current loot system.
Every time you kill a boss that yields loot, you get 5 points.
These points gives you bonus to your next roll. The bonus accumulates until you win a loot roll and the bonus resets to 0 and you start over again.

This would compensate for bad luck and eventually everyone would win something.

Thoughts?
Could this be a solution?

So a GDKP without the gold.

Also called, the DKP (Dragon Kill Points) that was or is still used by some guilds these days.

I hate DKP, you don’t take various possible upgrades because you’re holding out your points for tier items.

OP also suggested a reset of points once you get a piece of loot so im not really sure how it would work. You’d just have people passing on loot even if they need it and then dropping all their points on a BiS trinket, but assuming that point reset every raid and you get the same amount per boss kill then it would just be a tie and would result in it being rolled anyway.

EPGP was another. You earnt points you spent points.

Awful system. But people do what suits them best in guilds. They are free to use whatever systems they think are best.

We have a loot council in mine and they can also be very hit and miss depending on who is running them. Current guild does it very well but I’ve been in the lets gear the favourites and officers type of loot council guilds as well.

Well, you should to be able to roll without using your points so there would be an option to use them or not. The points should not reset for each raid and you can save them for that special item you really want. And what Puny mentioned, holding out, wouldnt everyone do that so in the end it would solve itself.

They should either give personal loot back or some kind of bad luck protection system should be there

PL for anything outside of guild raids suits me.

When I was raiding (old man yelling at clouds), we used EPGP with decay to prevent hoarding and to give newer raiders or people who had to miss some raids the ability to not fall back. EP were also awarded to people who didn’t even join the raid as long as they were online (ie. they were on the bench). It felt like a fair system to me back then.

Nowadays we will never agree on what is the best system, because whatever is good for goose is not necessarily good for the gander too.

Pls don’t.

Make it the Standart for lfr and let organised groups decide themselfs.

I don’t want blizz to say I can’t have two guilds raid together or can’t take a buddy with our guild without having to live with pl
