I did that questline and Velen didn’t attacked the player as far as I remember… He tried to stop Rakeesh with the player but was too late, killed him anyway, and THEN he realized that Rakeesh is his son. However he seems to forgave Kil’Jeaden who was behind this and majority of Draenei tragedies in ToS cinematic.
That reminds me, can Rakeesh still reform in TN? I think ye, it would be nice if he was the leader of those repenting Man’ari.
He goes red and attack you just basically a wet noodle
Maybe they retconned the fight?
He only attacks you at certain point in the fight, however, if you kill Rakeesh before he finishes his RP, you won´t see Velen turning hostile.
I guess I will do it again on some alt and wait with killing Rakeesh.
More likely we just kill too fast nowadays
I did it and ye, he does turn hostile. But well, he realized Rakeesh is his son and wanted to redeem him I guess. This new questline can offer the chance for reunification then, but I doubt Blizzard will use it.
100% certain Blizzard will forget Rakeesh exists and he will not be mentioned at all in the questline
I am pondering asking around to see if someone would like to RP a relation of Ara’s who had been corrupted ect…
Unfortunately I agree it will be the case. And to be honest, such a thing like penance of some Man’ari deserves at least a whole patch of a story, leading not just to the customisations, but also Heritage armor. Making it a small side questline like that will degrade it anyway. Draenei will get the Heritage questline in future tho, so it might say a bit more.
Sounds fun. But I RP 2 characters already, might go with warlock too, and not sure if I want 4th character. And at top of that I am on AD for 3 months and still learning… However I am not against it. Also, how corrupted you mean? Recently or on Argus?
It was also the fact that he’d seen that exact encounter in a vision long ago if memory serves me correctly.
He had the vision when his son was born and that’s how he realized Rakeesh is him.
You know the biggest middle finger from Blizzard part would be if the questline in question is not about redemption, not about Man’ari mercenaries and not anything of the marvelous ideas the players so far came up with
…but to give the Man’ari/Eredar rolepalyers the "Ren’dorei’ treatment the High Elven fans recieved…
And the Red Skin is because a group of regular Draenei became the victims of a foul ritual, botched trap, or anything, maybe cleansed a large area from the Fel by absorbing it
Nothing else, nothing more
You wanted High Elves? Here, Void Elves!
You wanted Eredar/Man’ari… hehe… here, red skin, totally not related to what you wanted
Sorry… I’m still hurt
That’s pretty much it. I mean just someone that recognises Ara maybe looks like either her mom or dad and then realise they are related. Anything else is up the chance
He did! He had a vision of him holding a dead man’ari and crying.
Quite frankly the more I think about it and the more curious I become about a [small section of the] Man’ari potentially redeeming themselves. I recall Rakeesh was converted with torture, and many other eredars were likely brainwashed too. It makes sense that some would like to reconsider their affiliation with a faction that is in shambles.
If they do it tastefully, it might actually be interesting. But I still think we need more lore about demons and the Legion, otherwise it feels like warlocks are taming third-tier villains.
I’ll be honest.
If I was Eredar the Breadbaker of Argus, and a celestial host of Intergalactic Demonic Hordes and their literal fiery God came to my world. with a gigantic fleet of spacecrafts, with the offer of “Serve me or be destroyed”, you can bet your behind I would be baking my bread with the souls of his vanquished enemies.
I would bide my time to get out underhis yoke, tho. But I was just baking bread when he arrived man, what ya expect me to do? Throw the baked bread at them?
Would be unfair. I mean, just because High Elfs fan suffer(ed) from Blizzards -logic does not mean other races have to suffer from it!
I think that is great, I might actually go with it, I would pick warrior to no need to switch class.
The customisations are already out and they are not fully demonic anyway so I think it’s pretty much clear, unless Blizzard was lazy and they are demons, that would be biggest oof. According to WoWhead there will be Velen’s vision of repentance however, so I think I am closest with what I said above. Acceptance of full demons would be worse and more damaging to the setting. Also there are only few serious Man’ari RPers. Now there will be a bit more but I doubt it will ever reach the number of Quel’Dorei RPers.
I also think that many were forced into it, and now with Shadowlands dreadlord lore some might even realize how deceived they all actually were.
I think we all have big doubts here.
As I said, this thing deserves at least patch tier story.
Lol. Anybody is taking that serious?
Unfortunately yes, Blizzard. And we have to cope with that somehow. SL will not go away, sadly.
