Regarding Man'ari

So, given we know we’ll be having Man’ari Eredar become playable/rejoining their people, I’m curious what folks plans are for their Eredar characters? Are any guilds being planned?

Best wait with your enthusiastic ideas as Blizzard will probably butcher the Man’ari, Draenei and Velen’s story completely and they’ll just end up as Red Draenei instead of your evil goth mommy fetish fantasy.

Even if Blizzard do so - that doesn’t mean we all necessarily have to abide that. Blizzard saying “it’s okay, Velen forgives the literal demonfolk that murdered his world : )” doesn’t mean that our draenei characters have to follow his thoughts exactly.

The draenei are such an old and long-lived race that they probably don’t forgive millenia of warfare all too quickly, so there’ll be hostility there. Maybe there’ll be man’ari who seek to use the apparent kindness of the draenei (assuming Blizz go that route) to actually just do further harm.

Personally I think it’s going to go the same way as Dark Rangers. There’ll be some cringe ERP or “NO I HAVE A PERMIT” stuff for a month or two, then it’ll become a niche thing for people NPCing as villains or even playing an outright villain character away from the popular hubs.

Oh, that I agree on. I have unironic, endless respect for the Alliance guilds that will stick to their guns and decide not to invite Eredar RP-ers into their guilds, even when Blizzard forgets of the concept of longlasting consequences.

I was saying that these over-enthusiastic Eredar LARPers on the forums should curb their enthusiasm and stop salivating at their concepts when it all could come crashing down, particularly with Blizzard’s storywriting track record since Shadowlands.

My draenei warlock here’ll definitely be demonifying herself once we get the new skins. She’s all for strengthening her personal power. Plus with the new influx of Man’ari from Argus she’ll be able to slip right in without too much notice.

For those that view the leadership of the prophet and his faith as weak my question is: why be here then?

Why haven’t you joined the Sargerei, or literally any other moment in history in which draenei, who were always tempted and provoked, had a chance to switch sides?

I think we shall have to wait and see.

Perhaps there’s going to be an introduction to these new skin types/man’ari/eredar characters. It could be that these are generally younger Eredar who were coerced into following the Legion, could be these were Draenei that were captured and corrupted, could be that Velen goes on some quest to redeem them and cleanse them.

Chances are Blizzard will just add them without saying anything and it will be a super awkward transition as a result.

I intend to go on a case-by-case basis. If someone has a decent story or explanation for being an Eredar and returning to the fold, then I will engage with them, if they not I will be less likely to. But for now, I shall wait and see.

I wouldn’t necessarily rely on that as a canon fact, mind. Yes there’ll be player interest in it but it doesn’t mean that all man’ari have suddenly just arrived, when it could mean there’s an influx of ones that decide (for whatever reason) to make their existence known.

I think Velen is bad doesn’t automatically translate into I think Sargeras is good that’s like a whole new sentence.

Disliking one’s leaders doesn’t mean every alternative is suddenly better.

That said yeah I agree with Warscale’s sentiment in that it’s still a bit too early to start speculating about guilds et al when we know 0 (zero) about the questline.

I would love if said Man’ari just make some Legoin cults. Maybe a Man’ari unit, traveling in space and fighting other demons for power. After all, there are plenty of Legion ships you can use on the Isles.

My Man’ari Eredar Felbrewmaster Monk will setup a new dojo in the Peak of Serenity. It’s still a Legion-corrupted mess so it will make for a perfect staging ground for a new generation of Eredar Monks.

We’ll also let other races come visit and we will host martial arts tournaments, but instead of the cuddlefest Pandaren rules it will be Mortal Kombat with fatalities and sacrificing those who got knocked out.

Ma’am’ari Eredar, Smasher of the Patriarchy

In the end, a great deal of the Light is about forgiving. And while I dont know how I feel like the idea of literal demons changing their heart and turning mortals (conveniently after the Legion has been defeated), I can’t deny that it would be in Velen’s character to give these demons a new chance.

So maybe it could be interesting. Maybe.

I agree that psychologically it makes sense, but practically what I hear is exactly what Othaar preached: “draenei’s vision is weak, it lacks ambition, magic is the way to power, blah blah”. And so it is a bit of a stretch to make a character that agrees with such a mindset, the same mindset that has corrupted draenei for millennia, but that somehow did not corrupt your OC. And yeah, you’re the exception, okay, but I want a satisfying reason other than “oh I missed the corruption bus and so I decided to stick with the other guys” because otherwise the impression I have is that your character is a lazy concept.

A concept which decided to stick with Velen and the Naaru - the same Velen/Light whose visions/powers were the difference between salvation and doom multiple times over the course of draenei history - without holding reverence to a culture which needed a heavy form of unity to endure.

Yes, it’s hard to buy that.

can’t wait for the Lightforged to be like “yes we accept them

There is always a last straw that break the camel’s back
Your lover died, or lost your child in an Alliance vs Horde conflict, or never forgget or forgive the Orcs and had enough of the tolearance
Anything could trigger a fall
Especially realizing after the promises and time… they achieved nothing
Not liberated Argus
Never will go home
Imprisoned the Dark Titan and killed a few important Eredar… and?
The Legion is not gone, just lost upper management, we only created a power vacuum and the Annihilan, Eredar, Nathrezim or god know what warlords still there just now with a fractured Legion
The Dragon became a Hydra, if possible, more dangerous than ever
The Legion lost Argus and the quick respawn, but the Demons are immortal by nature and reform in the Nether anyway
The Nether still there and will be since it is a fundamental force
We killed what, 1000 demons? 10.000? 100.000?
No one noticed
The Legion armies, technologies are still there just became more dangerous, because while Sargeras had a vision and done all those things to ultimately save the univerese from the Void - even if it means its destruction - the Legion Remnants probably regress back to the original Demon “infestation”, something that was so dangerous the Pantheon sent their best and strongest, Sargeras to deal with them!
Just now after countless millania spent as an efficent Army, they learned a few trick or two
Maybe some smart Demon realize what Sargeras wanted to do and why and continnue, but most of them… probably not
Those Demons, Legion-technology, troops, territories with demonic overlords are out there, the Army of Light lost long ago to the point Sargeras not even considered them a threat just a minor inconvinience, mild anoyance at best
All othose millenia wasted, spent with runing from the Man’ari and for what?
They achieved nothing from a Draenei point of view
And on Azeroth they learned the Bronze Dragons are tasked to uphold the Time Line Aman’Thul decided will be the prime and the best and the one where their race decided to join the Dark Titan…
…they never had a chance, Fate was set in stone and motion

And be realistic, if a Legion ship would show up in the sky and would send an emissary with a white flag, to negotiate, we are mercenaries with a ship, weapons and troops, and willing to work for YOU, the Alliance would probably accept (before they make the same offer to the Horde) without hesitation
Any sane leader would do

Could be more than enough to any Draenei to lose it
