Human: Catholic
Night Elf: Shintoism
Dwarf: Odinism
Tauren: Native American paganism
Troll: Voodooism
Blood elf: Islam
Plenty of religious diversity in wow.
Dwarves seem definitely like a representation of the german/swiss folk, if you look at their language and culture with beer, cheese and a mountain fort👍 It’s really cool, I love dwarves. Odinism though? Seems like a stretch in regards to lore
With blood elves, I’m not sure tbh, but their interior is definitely oriental.
However THOUGH, my post was about the priest/paladin class, not about races!
Muslims don’t worship the Sunwell lmao
But yes there are middle eastern elements in silvermoon, the ships, and the jewelry.
This is cultural, not religious. Big difference. You even see drunk blood elves in some parts of silvermoon
Lately we are being forced to use paper straws instead of plastic ones to “sAvE tHe PlAnEt”. Piss off, you AREN’T making this earth any greener by ruining my drink and poisoning me with paper bits.
I’d rather drink my COLD cold coffee straught from the cup.
I also learned something interesting today
Apparently the name Azshara might have been inspired by Asherah, a Goddess worshipped in ancient Middle East. In Semitic language Asherah means “she who dwells the sea”
You learn something new everyday
Thets okay, nor the Sin’dorei, nor the Quel’dorei
I’m not sure there are Elven Gods in WoW - or Elven names for other races gods/demigods - ; not that they are atheists, but arogant and self centered enough to don’t worship anything that is “higher than them” and especially not their source of power
Best they have I think are ideologies that based around the study arcane magic (or Fel. Or Light)
Light worship do exist, but I think that is on a more personal than racial level
I think I mentioned this before, if not my brain can be very forgetful
But the closest thing we have to an “Islamic” holiday is actually Lunar Festival.
It’s inspired by the Chinese New Year (I think) but it’s actually very very similar to Ramadan. You have the moon decorations, the gold and silver jewelry/decorations, the colorful dresses, and the food.
I think it would be cool, if blood elves would be more clearly middle eastern themed without referencing islam directly, but maybe then, paladin and priests should have other names for their talents, that aren’t christian to prevent it being viewed as offensive by some people. Maybe the Horde Paladins/Priests could be called differently and worship the sun? Would make sense with Tauren. Blood elves also worshipping the SUNwell. I think it would make way more sense lorewise even than the status quo, since tauren paladins don’t believe in the same thing as alliance paladins anyway, but they use the same talent names
I partially agree lol, but m8, what does this have to do with my thread?
They are already that.
Of course they have other influences too like elven fantasy, byzantines, French stairways, and lastly some Celtic vibes with the farstriders (Warcraft 2)
But tbh, they remind me so much of my people just without the wine. Lmao
But too much Hookah/sheesha for sure
The men don’t have the jewelry though in wow. Yeah, I think they seem to be similar, would just like it to be as clear as the alliance ones, and maybe the blood elf leaders could be slightly more dark skinned, so they seem more oriental👍 Most Blood elf npcs look like barbie
I’m sure after the Lor’themar-Thalyssra wedding the Nightborne arcwine will be popular ![]()
Wow, you don’t know anything about the game, do you? Tauren paladins are already literally called Sunwalkers, and Blood elf paladin’s Bloodknights.
THATS WHAT I SAID LOL Now also call them like that in-game actually, and that would solve the problem alot with different talent names
Middle eastern stereotype lol.
Look at the video I linked of the wedding. Most of them are as pale as Southern Europeans.
There is a reason my blood elf isn’t dark. I’m pale in real life. Pale olive.
And yes im middle eastern. We come in all shades ![]()
I mean just not as pale as blood elves usually have been. So multiple types, because all npcs are very blonde now
With the high elves most definitely, almost 90% of them are blonde or white haired
But blood elf NPC’s have a great wide range of hair colors. Something I like with the horde side ![]()
Rommath, which is one of the closest friends to Lor’themar has Black hair. And a really cool red tattoo
Forced diversity isn’t our strength. It’s our greatest weakness, which is why state actors in troll farms from Russia, China and Iran spend millions of hours fakeposting it.
Writers pre framing content in games, movies and TV with diversity boxes and quotas produce soulless , preachy rubbish because what they write doesn’t come from the heart, but from virtue signalling. It is weak, watery soup they create. Look at so many bad Netflix shows.
The cry for diversity never means diversity of thought. It generally means have less Christianity, fewer white people, fewer males, less heterosexuality, less right of centre thinking, less heritage culture, less European indigenous culture. It never really means balance, it just means hate the West. Moan on inaccurately about the past British Empire but ignore the current real Chinese one with its re education camps.
Meanwhile the troll farms ramp all this up as the world’s authoritarian regimes know this is what will sap our spirit.
If this is your only problem, i envy your life.
The funny part is that if you were to replace the connections to christianity and replace them with another religion and then depict them as borderline fanatical workshippers who sometimes may or may not want to commit genocide people would have an issue with that.
