Remind me about troll gender traditions

I remember that trolls were patriarchal and women didn’t take any serious positions till wow came and Thrall made edict about gender equality, but still at some positions women were unwelcome in troll society. Does anyone remember was it priesthood or something else that still remained limited or unwelcome?

i dont know about trolls,

but i remember Night Elves were like that. Only accepted women as priests, and men as Druids. they started to be more accepting after joining the Alliance, and wow became a game in 2004.

also would be better to ask in Story forums next time, most lore experts are there.

Last I checked that was RPG lore which is now non canon.

Nah it’s in the books as well. Not that men were downtrodden but priests could only be women in the time of Azshara, men were welcome as mages etc. The priests then also became the sentinels under Tyrande and the main military force and the High Priestess (Tyrande) the new leader after the well of eternity fiasco.

Malfurion was the first Druid, with the women doing all that some of the men who no longer could use magic I suppose turned to Druidism. After Hyjal they had to fill up the numbers and expanded it to allow both.

Don’t know squat about trolls though, sorry.

On the other hand, Night elven and Nightborne societies were led by a Queen…
Both Azshara and Elisande had a court with womens in important positions, but even in Prince Farondis’ Court, Nightwatcher Idri was in a pretty nice post
And as Naga they carried this with them
I don’t think if a Woman aimed a position, anyone would stop her to be that
Kaldorei after the little incident with the Well are more rigid, thats true

I meant the troll bit, sorry if that wasn’t clear!

All the bit about troll women being subservient is RPG lore and therefore not canon.

Night elves are a matriarchical society even in the game and books, is true.

Ouh. Well now I feel silly. Yes, I don’t know of anything pertaining to gender roles in Troll society

Kinda wrong here lil furry friend. Night Elves are a society that (until wow came along) was about 98% female, males were rare, and golden eye males rarer which is why Furion (later Malfurion) and Illidan were so special. Golden eyes indicated a great destiny for them. In WC3 If I remember correctly on Illidan and Furion are male, the rest of the Nelves are female. So it wasn’t a concerted effort for them to be led by women, they were led by women because women were the overwhelming majority of their populace.

There is no gender but body type what the heck man…

Depends on the Trolls. We’ve seen that Blood Trolls are a matriarchal society.
The Zandalari Trolls work on a royal lineage so have had Kings and Queens.
The Darkspear is a Patriarchy led by a Shadow-Hunter which appears to be a male only vocation.

Shadow Hunter Vosh’gajin is a female troll.

She’s a boss in Lower Blackrock Spire.

its not male only.

EDIT: other female Shadow hunters include;

Shadow Hunter Askia (Warspear)
Shadow Hunter Bwu’ja (Frostfire Ridge)
Shadow Hunter Kajassa (Frostwall, Frostfire Ridge)
Shadow Hunter Mala (Frostwall, Frostfire Ridge)
Shadow Hunter Mutumba (Vol’mar)
Shadow Hunter Narez (Krag’wa’s Shore, Nazmir)

And here was me thinking I had specified Darkspear.

All those bottom ones are Darkspear.

Well, that’s history! We live in modern society, were women are given special privileges in wow like becoming a fruit bowl :ramen:

nah see if the devs lived in modern society rather then morally corrupt america bobby k and most of the old blizz dev team / executives would be serving time for their sex crimes :stuck_out_tongue:

Well, I’ve checked both the books, and the RPGs, and there’s nothing on Body Type 1, and Body Type 2 so I might not be able to answer your question.
