I mean the cosmetic items not tied to armor class. It still says when it is not compatible for my class, but can I add them to the library anyway?
UPDATE: NOPE if red hint

You can only add items that are the same primary armor type and any weapon your class can use.
Tip: Warriors can equip all weapons except wands [and warglaives].
Cosmetic items can always be added.
I haven’t tried it myself, but I remember talks about ensembles being unlocked by any character regardless if the appearance is usable by them or not.
… and warglaives.
I just bit the bullet and it hurt.
Sorotis, the weapons vendor in Valdrakkan. Bought a 2H-sword cosmetic item with a mage and it said “You do not have the required proficiency for that item.”
I realize, where cosmetics are addable by any class, it also doesn’t give a red type warning in the tooltip because those types of cosmetics are enabled for all armor classes. (So be careful with weapon cosmetics.)
Even better: OF COURSE this vendor’s items sell for 1 copper, not refund for what you paid for.
I have to assume this is intentional design to push people to play more alt classes.
I guess, since cosmetics can also drop as loot, Blizzard didn’t want to introduce transmog loot competition, and also wanted to keep things simple instead of enabling it for some items (vendor) and not for others (loot).
I assume you mean those Cosmetic items that you can loot in DF. I don’t think you can add them but I haven’t tried.
I have a cosmetic sword which is marked red for me but it is account bound so I’ll send it to my pally.
Although wouldn’t mind hearing if someone has tried and knows for sure…
If it’s not mailable to an alt you could try and ask a GM for a one off refund.
I think its abit random TBH.
Ive added things that I shouldnt be able to use before but in general its best to stick with the usual rules.
HAHAHAHAHAAAAHAAAA!
That’s odd. I can add cloth cosmetics as a druid. That must be because technically I can equip cloth, but am a leather wearer. Best to do this stuff on a warrior then, they can equip pretty much everything (apart from daggers I think?).
and weirdly enough I can equip daggers…in fact its the thing that always drops from raids for me even though I cant use them!
Do you have an example?
Its very annoying that they let you add the Tuskaar cosmetic set with any armor class despite the fact you can only use it as a leather wearer.
So disappointed when I realiesed!
It’s a left over from launch before you were ‘forced’ to use certain weapons.
No you can’t.
I remember this, too. I bought a cloth ensemble on my druid. The ensemble is for cloth wearers but the item is not classified as cloth armor, since it’s an ensemble item, not an armor piece.
The system got very complex because of this, arguably unnecessarily. Now you got ensembles for one class and addable by any, cosmetic items for all classes and addable by all, and ability-tied weapon transmogs only addable by a compatible class. Maybe more.
