Reminder: Ashran still unfair on purpose

The following unfair designs still exist:

  • No songflowers (15% stat buff if I remember correctly) on the Alliance side of the map. How convenient for Horde …
  • One of the mages is much weaker. Guess on which side …

So much e-sports! /s just in case

Was that an oversight? A happy little mishap? I can’t imagine that anyone can overlook this. This totally happened on purpose.

Easy fix:

  • Remove the songflowers or put them on both sides.
  • Copy / paste the stats and the abilities of the mages.

There is no reason at all to not fix it. The changes are so simple, I assume they can’t consume much dev time.

Nobody (except you) seems to care about

Oh, I don’t care for Ashran in particular. I do care about removing unfair designs that weaken my faction.

Thats not true
Lots of people are very anoyed by this, like the Winter Graps Attacker mode
To the point when Ashran pops, Alliance players tend to leave, because 15 min deserter is way better than Ashran, while Horde is even capable to kill their boss!
I’m not even sure Alliance managed to kill Volrath since WoD…
So everything Tpaartas said is true, very true!
There are Epic BGs that are in desperate need of rebalancing (they fixed AV so can’t see why can’t the rest… or won’t)
Even isle of Conquest is a bit Horde favored, Glaive is fun and all, but a lone druid could demolish them in no time while the Horde Airship is positioned so could bombard the east gate longer than the Alliance ship’s guns are in reach of either of the horde gates… not to mention the bombs are right next to Alliance east gate

glaives are also harder to kill for alliance.
The roads and environment are also not mirrored unfortunately

Fun fact: as horde I’ve killed the alliance boss exactly once in SL, while I’ve lost several Ashrans within 5 minutes because the full alliance team rushed the horde boss.

Oh and my winrate in Ashran is between 55~60%, of which several as alliance merc mode which I win 90% of the time. Alliance also has some benefits, like the front of their base has a much better setup for defending compared to the horde, with places where you can LoS as ranged.

Yes, they all need a rework, desperately. AV wasn’t rebalanced though, nothing really changed. Alliance has always had the advantage in the current AV setup when it comes to rushing. The vast majority of matches I play the tower order in favor of the alliance, and the archers are positioned in a way where they can hit you in the majority of the alliance base, while the bunkers are far apart. The flag is also close to being in the middle of the base, where as the horde flag is hidden in the back.

Yes, all EBGs need a rework, desperately, because none of them are balanced. However, I’d say Ashran is probably the most balanced of them all with Isle of Conquest and then AV next.

You mean in favor of the alliance? The alliance gunship can nuke both the hangar and workshop flag, and can fire on the hangar approach of the horde side for a very long time. Horde can only do this for a little bit with no access to the workshop or hangar flags. Alliance has a shorter approach time for the both the hangar and docks as well, not to mention that they have much better access to horde glaives than horde has to alliance glaives. I’ve done quite a bit of merc mode and I prefer doing Isle of Conquest as alliance.

Sorry, what?
Horde had that advantage, not Alliance… :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

No
And I’m kinda sure at this point you are alone with this oppinion
But you totally have the right to have it, so… :man_shrugging:

I dislike Ashran, but honestly, I’d take it over Wintergrasp any time.

Ah yes, that’s why as Horde I lose a lot off AV because the alliance simply captures the towers faster in the rushing scenario :joy: My warrior has a 48% winrate for AV in SL.

My isle of conquest is also at a 48% winrate, make of that what you will.

I care about it, tbqh. I’m tired of losing Ashran. If it turns out there is a numerical imbalance that is the reason… then I would like that reason to be remedied.

It comes from the flowers that you can pick on the horde side. This also has a downside:

  • only half the horde team goes there
  • the team going mid usually gets slaughtered
  • then the alliance can rush either the mage and kill it before the horde regroups, or wipe the remaining horde at the flowers and pick flowers for themselves.

While I think that giving alliance their own version of the flowers is not bad, I think that in the end it doesn’t matter and we’re better off just removing the flowers. Right now the disorganized horde splitting at the start should be used to the advantage of the alliance (and often is).

Tbf, that’s so close to 50% that I think we’d have to say that map is well balanced.

Wintergrasp defence is great. Yes it takes 30-45 minutes, but you’ll win. Enjoy your conquest points!

…OTOH if you’re attacking, just… just leave. Eat the deserter debuff because it lasts 1/3 as long as the BG that you’re definitely going to lose. You’ll be starting the next one before that one finishes and you had 15 mins to do other stuff meantime.

I’m fine with that…

I just seek balance.

Must be my pandaren genes.

Another character I have managed to drop the win rate to below <50% while having a lot of BfA matches and being 55%+ there, so I’d say it’s slightly skewed towards alliance.

Yeah wintergrasp attacking is the worst. If your queue time is less than the expected queue time, just decline and re-queue because there’s a big chance it’s wintergrasp attack where you take a spot of someone that left. Also happens that you leave a match, wait 15, and get put into the exact same match with the attack…

*loots more Pandaran Hide out of spite*

Alliance, as healer, my queues are usually 2-3 minutes at sensible times of day

As yet, I haven’t been thrown back into the same match… but I’m only a casual PvPer anyway so my sample size is smol.

:scream_cat:

This is why I left the Horde! Y’all did not respect us any more than you do vulpera :frowning:

I’d loot more Vulpera remains, but I don’t seem to get any when merc :eyes:

Yeah … all Epic BGs need an overhaul in some way…

Just make epic BGs epic again.

  • Make it completely optional
  • Remove the silly kill count that artificially shortens the time needed to complete the BG
  • Re-implement interesting NPCs like the Lokholar the Ice Lord again / make them actually relevant.
  • Give both sides equal options
  • Make them an ongoing battle you can drop in/out of at any time
  • Maybe bind some special rewards to them, like Mounts/Xmogs/title you can earn by playing a lot of them

Make them EPIC.
As of now they’re just a sh*tshow. Kek rush boss and burst him down and the like…

This please! It’s why I loved the “classic ashran” event so much! I could just stay in the same match for hours and just enjoy it without having to sit in queue and get crappy runs all the time.

  • no soft timers that make you lose or win (resources)
  • no hard timers that make you lose or win (wintergrasp…)
  • reset the match at the end and give a 5 minute break to restart and have people leave/join
  • Make objectives in the map rewarding, both for the victory condition, as honor rewards (and possible loot). Not just the person that captures a bunker or tower, everyone. You’ll always have leechers, they can get a “report afk” by the entire raid
  • Bring back the end-of-match chest rewards. seriously, I’m barely getting any marks of honor now!
  • Stop giving us BfA gear rewards from Ashran, give us 158 honor parts that we can upgrade
  • give us the ability to upgrade 197 honor gear to 200 conquest gear for a small conquest price (muuuuuuuuuuuch lower than the initial conquest price).

The flowers have no real disadvantage. The part of the raid that collects them is back in fight easily fast enough before the mage falls. And from this point in an otherwise balanced scenario it’s 115 % stats vs. 100 % stats.

In fact the best strat as Alliance is not to start pushing right away. Pushing Ashran as Alliance is a trap by design.

Ashran isnt played as intended.
We have to collect fragments, hire bosses, farm jungle etc. We just rush each other bosses(tbh it’s more fun than grind) and team with highest healers/range dps wins.
